This thread is for the discussion of -spooky-'s latest article, Squandered Resources: Halloween Special. Due to technical issues the thread that is normally created when an article is published didn't occur, so I have created this thread to allow you to talk about it. As always, please keep your comments on topic.
I really dont think you can combine those decks, at least in the way that comes to my mind. Infect and normal combat damage are very anti-synergy, as they both work towards different ends. If you do 15 damage to someone and then play an infect creature, that infect creature gets you no closer to making that 15 damage a kill. It's the same the other way around. Either you play an infect strategy, or a normal combat damage strategy. I don't think you can have both. :/
Sorry...I should have elaborated further. I meant to combine the infect with the ability to use scavenge and make the infect creatures much more of a threat.
First id like to say: Spooky u rock!! I love legacy almost as i like to keep my money on my wallet
If i may, id like to see more budget control decks, since its my favourite type of deck.
On toppic, would be viable to use tendrils of agony instead of Sickening Dreams? I know that if u cast silence u dont have to worry about your wincon countered, but tendrils has a built in protection against counters
About the idea to combine infect with scavange i think it isnt a good idea since you would have to dilute the control side of the deck, which means your infect creatures will have less protection
Tendrils instead of sickening dreams just opens you up to more problems in my opinion. It targets, which means you have to worry about cards like Leyline of Sanctity. Also, it costs more mana, which means after you combo off you have to worry about how many petals are left in your deck etc. This is relevant if you are trying to cast a silence or similar spell before you actually cast the dreams, just in case.
As far as using scavenge with infect. It might look good on paper, but I suspect it will be too slow. In essence, you are attempting a 3 card creature based combo with no true way to search out the pieces. scavenge is sorcery speed, which means your combo is easy to disrupt through removal, and half the cards in your deck are essentially dead without the other combo pieces. :/

I honestly thought about it. Wrote up a list, but I couldn't bring myself to put it up.
