Gerrard was fine at first, but his utter refusal to develop as a character, ever, choosing instead to wallow in endless wangst, shall we say colors my opinion a bit, eh? He could have been a strong Campbellian hero, but wound up being Annie Skywalker.
VestDan's Weatherlight series is fantastic, especially if you're unfamiliar with the storyline or skipped over the story when it was out there.
That said there are us, few, writers who will continue to work through the winter. I thank everyone who has commented on my articles; you've pushed me to reconsider and develop further some of the ideas that have been brought up. Thank you!
Yes. A thousand times yes. They lured me in with Ivory Tower and Zuran Orb, and I kept telling myself "I can quit whenever I want...just look at that untapped disk". That was ten years ago man.....
Quite frankly, I feel like this is probably the closest any fictional story not told through a traditional medium will ever come to the greatness of other storys. The depth of characters leaves something to be desired, but the epicness of the story well makes up for that. The way the story comes full circle, and the originality of the characters and the idea behind the story makes the story of the Legacy incredible, and there is only one other non-novel that has even come close to this in terms of sheer imaginitaveness, creativity, and the way it can move those experiencing it, and that is the story that has evolved over years in Warcraft. This, I think, tops even that.
Happy Holidays, etc. Maybe I'll read VestDan's saga [I remember reading half of it! It was good], and maybe I'll write an article for something before January ... I haven't had time to play Magic, but I'm looking at a ~40 day layoff between semesters, here.
Outliers is a good book.
