The thought of most Magic pros posing for Vegas style cards makes me want to scrub my brain with Lysol. (I could name a few exceptions though, ahem.)
I'm a fan of G/W and G/R, the latter because the first deck I ever put together was an elf burn deck a billion years ago.

Um, yeah, a stripper's code of ethics prohibits them any sexual activity, especially behind closed doors in the privacy of a hotel room.
Very true, but based on the amount of stings with this issue, it doesn't happen in Vegas.
Trust me. The consequences aren't worth it for the girls and the businessmen who own whatever company they work for.

My favorite combo is probably black/white - it's what I played when I first picked up magic cards (5th grade? :o) - I still remember how much I loved that royal assassin - I thought it was the best card possible.
Of course the Christian parochial school I went to quickly banned the game and I never touched Magic again until about 2 weeks ago when I rediscovered the game with a friend of mine. Now in between grad school work we play around a bit and I played in my first draft last week - it's good to be back.
I've been getting into draft tournaments and so had little occasion to play black recently (unfortunately playing B/W in shadowmoor drafts is a good way to lose quickly), so I've had to branch out some.
It's 4:30AM, and I'm going to bed soon, and I'm only about 20 minutes into the game, so I'll probably fall asleep before the show ends. So I must say what's on my mind before I forget...
First of all, let me preface by saying I LOVE Gavin on the show. He brings a great point of view (namely, the tournament player) to the show, and he's great at keeping up to date on tournament results, spoiled cards, etc. However, I feel that whenever Gavin is on the show, he steals the spotlight, and we rarely hear Tom or Derek talking. Tom has a clear role, as the moderator/mover-alonger/schedule-maker of the show. But Derek's role is not as clear, so oftentimes, I feel he only gets to talk when Tom asks him to talk about/present a topic.
I've came back to listening to the show about a month ago, and I don't feel like I was interested in Derek at all until this week, mainly because I never heard him talk. But this week, even though there still was no clear role for him, I was interested in him talking, because there was lively dialogue between him and Tom. When Gavin is on the show, I feel it's more of a monologue with random assertions by the other two guys. In fact, I've heard Tom (and Gavin himself) joke about Gavin 'ranting' for minutes and minutes.
That's just my thoughts. I definitely don't want Gavin to leave the show, or even to reduce his contribution to the show, but I miss the lively dialogue. Back when it was Tom, Dom and Gavin, we have more conversation because Tom could counter Gavin, but now that Tom is the moderator, he doesn't speak as much, IMO. What do you guys think?

Well, it's been a while since I've listened to the cast, been recovering from the beating Gavin gave me in round two of the Berlin PTQ in Hollywood.
Now that I've begun listening again, the phone calls are a nice touch, providing some nice variety.
The BG combination is by far my favorite. Because green-black is already established in the current Standard meta, though, I think Eventide won't hold as much good stuff for it as with other less developed combinations like UR.

They said they want wizards to continue to do the booster as the week 0 preview. But what would they do about mythic rares? Do they show a whole mythic rare, and give us no clues as to what we are more likely to see, or reveal a whole normal rare and leave us clueless about the cards we want to see.
And they already did the week 0 preview for Shards of Alaara, anyways. It was the planeswalker. Although there might be more since we didn't get to see all of him.
And finally, the mythic rare symbol is brass from what it looked like to me. Not orange. But I might be wrong.
I'm a big fan of pairing enemy colors, because they offer nice play opportunities that aren't so simple to achieve.
My favorite combination has to be UR with instants and sorceries to control your opponents; of course it doesn't work against G's can't be targeted by opponents and uncounterable creatures, but that just forces you to spice it up.
The 1st moment I saw a Djinn Illimunatus, I knew I had to build a deck around him; now it's a WURS land destruction deck my friends hate
I thought about this more and how this is supposed to get new players. I can sort of understand it. When Akroma was made I still was pretty new to the game. I kept buying packs until I got Akroma. Also, when I checked tcgplayer.com. The area with the lowest rating for magic was innovation.
I enjoyed your podcast, and I look forward to hearing more.
Im a big fan of Izzet, or the UR color combination. This is probably because of the Izzet GuildmageDespirate RitualLava Spike infinate combo that I was so sad to see leave standard. My first deck that I ever played was the Izzet Preconstructed deck, followed shortly by my own build of a burn deck, based around Volcanic Hammer and Shock. God, I miss those days....
Great show as always. Like the Voicemails and glad to see it taking off.
As far as favorite color combo's, B/W has always been my favorite, with both being my favorite colors, but R/W and R/G have become favorites of mine lately, mostly R/W because it won me to Box tournaments in One weekend, and I'm liking R/G coming up in Extended,so that's about it.

Hey guys, I'm a relatively new listener. Basically I went on itunes, typed in Magic the Gathering, and the mtgcast network popped up and I've been listening ever since. Used to listen when Dom was on the show though, guess I just sorta stopped for a while.
I think this was better than last week though, Tom was a lot more considerate
To the question though, I've been a blue mage nearly my entire career as a magician (playing since The Dark/revised). I have to say, the decks I enjoy playing the most are probably blue and green, but the decks I have the most success with are either blue and black or blue and red.
Right now, my deck is UR control in type 2, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Hopefully R&D did a better job with the Izzet in Eventide than they did with the guild in guildpact.
Oh: And BTW... I know you guys have been pronouncing the hybrid symbols like they were words (gr like a growl, and gu like something sticky), but I've been pronouncing them using the guild names since ravnica, but mostly since Shadowmoor. People seem to just get it when I say that oversoul of dusk costs selesnya Selesnya Selesnya Selesnya Selesnya... maybe that's just in my area though...
Keep up the good work, and I've been enjoying the tribal time with toms...

Search your library for a land and put it into play tapped, gain two life.
First things first I am all about speculation but how is that black? black rarely search for a land and when it does it tends to be a swamp and rarely just flat out gains life usually drains it. guess it could be one of those weird cards like augury adept that is more like one color that the other, but just seems like that is to much of a green spell.
