This thread is for the discussion of my latest article, MTGS Mini #13: Old Frontiers: Arabian Nights. We would be grateful if you would let us know what you think, but please keep your comments on topic.
As an old player who remembers the set (I started playing after it was released, but boosters were still being sold of it at a local shop, oddly enough!), this article is a very informative and great hindsight into Arabian Nights.
I loved how small the set was, honestly. While alot of my views on old and modern sets are nostalgia speaking, I loved Arabian Nights, nearly everything about it, especially the stuff you mention.
The card tags on Oasis aren't working, I believe you forgot the put the slash in "[/card]"
Good article, by the way, I started playing at the time of Onslaught so I had no idea about Arabian Nights, this at least helped me understand it a little.
it was neat to read about arabian nights, i hope to see one article for each set. Can wait for the homelands one, that will be an intresting read to see what you come up with to make it sound good. lol.

Current Fallen Angel (Anson Maddocks art) Count:449!!!
Great article. I started around The Dark, so I was in contact with the cards from the first expansions, but couldn't get ahold of them cheaply. They hold a sort of mystic alure. I'm sort of a student of the game, as far as the design of the cards, and I love this article's take. It is amazing how many basic ideas have their roots here, where they were just touching upon entire mechanics with a single card and moving on without a backwards glance. Looking forward to the next one.
This is a great idea for an article, and I think you identified some of the key new ideas in AN. I must make objection, though, to the amusing suggestion about unbanning or unrestricting LoA in Vintage or Legacy. LoA is nothing less than the most powerful card drawing engine in all of Magic. It singlehandedly wins control mirrors like no other card ever printed.
One must wonder though… with the speed and non-basic hate of Vintage and Legacy, would the card have much of an impact if unrestricted/unbanned today?
I don't say it should be unbanned, just wondered aloud what would happen if it were. I know it is a ridiculously powerful card, but the card has been illegal for so long, the formats might be able to adapt to it or even hate it out. I mean, I hardly keep up with Vintage, but I can't recall the last time I heard of Library of Alexandria being used, even as the one-of allowed.

Unerstricting Library would probably bring back MUC in all its "Ophidian ftw" glory and slow everything to a crawl. Nothing like seeing two blue mages get into a protracted counter war over a snake that puts you on a 26-turn clock.
A few errors i noticed: "situational" in "situational drawing" which links to [card]Sindbad[card] is linking to [card]Sinbad[card], which doesn't exist. Subheading "Trial and Error" is spelt "Trial and Erorr". "Elephant" in "the tournament-defining elephant tribe" links to [card=War Elephant|War Elephant]Elephant[card] instead of [card=War Elephant|Arabian Nights]Elephant[card]. Still a very nice article to read, good job!

Wrath of God couldn't be more religious if the picture was Jesus smacking demons with a jug of Holy Water.

Great article, better topic for an article.
Please do more.
