Jace on the other hand gives you card advantage for no life cost. On the contrary, Jace can actually take some damage for you. I'd think that makes him better than Arena.
My heater was dead, so I sure feltt he -1° mornings x_x
And I'm very interested in the opinions of other players, judges, and assorted ethereal beings as to the "medical emergency" question - there is no official policy, but I've been asked that question quite a few times, and almost had to deal with it twice. So - discussion, folks! And then you can have your marshmallows.

Wow, it got below freezing here?!?! He didn't tell you all that it has happened before. :wink2:
Man, shows how much I have been outside lately.
Well, I may not learn a whole lot from the Cranial Insertion articles, but they sure are an entertaining read. And a good source of funny quotes. You just have to love the "Marshmallows" answer! One of the best ever imo. Thanks for another funny and informative article.
ive been don ther years ago at that tim yes ive sen ice in the road and snow at some instances
I loved this article. What a great read, and I know what to do when I see spontaneous human combustion during a game.

good work, as always. and i read the ci articles, so you know you have at least one regular reader now.
EDIT: as for the medical emergency thing, i have severe allergies and asthma, so i always carry an epipen and an inhaler on me. i would probably tell the TO when i got there. i've never had any problems (thankfully!) but you never know, so i figure i'll let someone know and tell them i have my meds on me in case something goes wrong. but that's just me.
Comments on the sudden medical emergency scenario would be good, though. My blurb probably sounded HEARTLESS~!, but it's really just practical. There are very few conditions under which a tournament should be stopped, and one player hitting the floor -- while it's certainly an unfortuate situation -- is not one of them.
I take the approach that the NHL used when a recent on ice incident causing the officials to suspend play and postpone the game for a latter date.
For an FNM, perhaps delay it until saturday, or sunday. Even do a double dip, continue the previous halted FNM earlier in the day and then proceed with the regularly scheduled FNM.
For higher events, it wouldn't be feasible to suspend the event for a new date but you could delay the event for an hour or so to at least update the condition of the injured player.
I just wanted one clarification on the part with Foxfire in it...
Perhaps it is all in the oracle text (which I dont really want to take the time to find, lol)...
The card specifically says "target attacking creature" right? Doesnt this mean that foxfire cannot target the jitte players creature after combat since said creature is no longer an attacking creature? This would be similar to Maze of Ith then right?
I just wanted a clarification since I was confused by your ruling on it...thanks guys.
Oops, I gave them to my sister already, she likes marshmallows more then I do.
On a serious note: I really think that if a player spontaneously combusted that 911 should be called right away. At the same time someone should find the closest fire extinguisher and use it on the poor person that is burning up. Medical emergencies are not something one should hesitate about. Get in, do what needs to be done and think about it later. I should hope anyones second thought upon seeing someone on fire is to get a fire extinguisher and put it out (the first thought I think most people would have is "OMG!!! That person is on fire! Real actual honest-to-god fire is surrounding that persons body! And I am standing right here and watching it!"). Really, what else can you do?
technichly that would not work. since most extingishers contain cheamicals that eat oxogen alive. tans lation you could suficate a person if you did that. you'd be doing more harm then good.

The creature is considered attacking/blocking/blocked/unblocked until the end of the end of combat step, so there is time to do shennanigans.

What happens if my opponent casts Foxfire on his creature with a Jitte after damage has already been dealt? Does he rewind and take the counters off?
Okay, so as long as this is done during the end of combat step it is okay...I guess I was reading the question as the guy was in his 2nd main phase trying to do this....
and just for reference for the kids at home following along here is the relevant rules section on end of combat phase stuff, heh..
311. End of Combat Step
311.1. As the end of combat step begins, all “at end of combat” abilities trigger and go on the stack. (See rule 410, “Handling Triggered Abilities.”) Then the active player gets priority and players may play spells and abilities.
311.2. As soon as the end of combat step ends, all creatures are removed from combat. After the end of combat step ends, the combat phase is over and the postcombat main phase begins.
About Spontaneous Combustion: if I understand correctly, they don't catch on fire, but more like just die, with burns on their skin. I dunno. Can someone who has medical experience weigh-in on this?
Otherwise, good stuff. I actually learned something too, which is a plus.
Nice article - part of the reason I finally got around to registering here over vacation.
I didn't see any response to your "ASTADPPY" spell-announcement acronym challenge, so speaking as a slow player, here's one:

Spontaneous combustion is not well-supported by science.
