I am contemplating laser hair removal for my face, underarms, and pubic region, because I dislike constantly shaving those areas (although the alternative of allowing the hair there to grow out is far worse), but I know that the process can be expensive, so I wish to ask for advice about it.
Has anyone here ever had laser hair removal? If so, was the process painful? How long did it take to perform? How expensive was it? Would you recommend it, or its it better that I simply remain with shaving as my method of depilation? Thank you very much.

I've looked into it in my area and it runs $500 a session, and it normally takes 4-5 sessions to completely remove the hair from one area. Sometimes they run specials on Groupon but I don't trust those.
I've heard mixed reviews from people and I think it varies based on thickness of hair...for women of Italian and Mexican descent our hair is usually long and thick and harder to remove.
The pain is very manageable. About the same level of flicking rubberband against your skin.
Usually you need about 10 sessions to completely wipe out the hair.
But $500 per session is way too expensive. It's $50 per session in Australia.

I am very fair-featured, and my hair is neither thick nor dark, so, hopefully, removing it shall not be a difficult process.

What is the reason for that massive difference in price? That is insane!

I tried it once, didn't like it. I don't think it was anywhere close to $500 for a session, though. I agree that's expensive. It was more like $1-200 I believe. The pain wasn't very manageable for me. It was horrible. Like getting burned. Maybe there are different methods of doing it, but yeah, I didn't like it, and the numbing stuff they gave me didn't seem to do much either, honestly. The worst thing though was the smell. There's this horrible smell of burning hair that sticks to you for a good few days after you get it done.
There are a lot of different methods lumped under "laser hair removal" though, and I'm not entirely sure which I had done, so price/pain level might depend on the method used.
I'm doing my tenth session in two weeks ["6-12 sessions to fully remove hair"]. The pain is pretty bad but is definitely manageable - it does not have lasting effects pain-wise beyond an hour or so after for me? I only am getting it on my face currently - it is $50/session here [and they don't take insurance], for what it's worth. I shave as well, but it lets me shave less often, and the effect is definitely pronounced. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
