Whenever I would take out the trash, usually during the night, I can hear bats flapping their wings around trees in the backyard. I know it's bats instead of birds because birds don't make that hissing noise. I am kind of paranoid about getting rabies, and have considered driving them away. I subsequently have done some research, and found out that apparently bats eat bugs and garden pest, so I'm considering letting them stay. What do you guys think?
Bats are great! They do a lot for pest control and are very important to the ecosystem. A lot of people put up bat houses to try and lure them in. I'd say keep them.
It's really up to you. The incidence of rabies from bats isn't all that high, but you should decide for yourself. In either case, use pest control services that are designed to deter bats from roosting near your home, not kill them.
As others have said, the rabies risk isn't significant. They are, however, rather unsanitary animals. If they're roosting somewhere where you don't want a guano problem, like in your attic or your eaves, you might use excluders to encourage them to nest somewhere else. Otherwise, leave them alone.
It is now late enough in the year to deploy excluders. You don't want to do it before about September, because the baby bats aren't flying yet and they get stranded away from their parents.

Just kill all of them and save time trying to get them to go to another place

712.5b The controller of another player can't make choices or decisions for that player that aren't called for by the rules or by any objects. The controller also can't make any choices or decisions for the player that would be called for by the tournament rules.
Example: The player who's being controlled still chooses whether he or she leaves to visit the restroom, trades a card to someone else, agrees to an intentional draw, or calls a judge about an error or infraction.
