I'm interested in learning BioChem, but don't want to go back to school. I am self motivated, and am willing to work for the knowledge, but I just can't seem to find anything relevant with my searches. I have a preferance to read over watching videos as well.
MIT offers all the materials for BioChem except the book, which isn't terribly expensive at all. Also, I found a free text for people who are interested in BioChem.
If you umm... "arrrgggg!!" , a "rushing water" file is available of the text Biochem 7th edition from Berg (is what I used for my biochem coarse)
Also EVERYTHING that I covered in my studies as a biochem major is covered by YouTube channel "freelance teacher", if it wasn't for that guy, I don't think I would have passed organic chemistry. Truth be told, There is no difference learning biochem from this channel vs. going to school. Even if you are in school you will be using internet resources like this (and exactly this) anyway.
Also YouTube channel Kahn Academy is good.
Along these same lines, does anyone have recommendations on free courses for statistics?
I'm pretty familiar with the basic stuff, like linear regression, T-test, chi-square, etc. I'm also fine with "business" statistics like ANOVA or DOE. I'm looking for an entry point into more advanced stuff, like For instance Markov Chains.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Khan Academy videos for biochemistry or for statistics are good, but you should buy a good book and work through it and do problems.
WRT statistics, what's your background and what do you want to get out of it? What amount of rigour and how much probability theory do you want to deal with? What disciplines will you apply statistics to (e.g., legal, medical, scientific, engineering, business; each discipline has its own gold standard, best practices, etc., etc.)?
