I almost wonder whether you are making too big a deal out of this and taking on more guilt that you should. If your friend Amy has a nice set of attributes you would be quite unobservant if you didn't notice it when you saw her, or every once in a while when she gave you a friendly hug. That does not mean you should stare at them or make a comment, just as you shouldn't do if you are trying to get to know a woman in a more intimate way. Just keep talking to her about The Hobbit, UFC, Chomsky, or whatever it is that you and her enjoy talking about. You are gonna have dreams about her once in a blue moon, you are going to feel a stirring in your special parts when you see her dressed to the nines to impress someone (not you probably), and you will notice her attributes. That is what being young is all about. Heck, I am 40 and 19 years married, and it still happens to me. Not feeling shame or that it is a taboo subject will go a long ways towards helping you not focus on these sorts of things.
The only other thing I would add is don't be surprised if it happens to you once or twice with you guy friends either- it does not mean you are objectifying them and does not mean you're gay. Societal ideas of beauty, fitness, and that intangible charisma that some people have go way beyond genuine sexual preference. This is actually a good reason why you should not feel bad about it with your female friends either...it happens regardless it is genuine attraction.
