Oh, right... My, oh my, I use the term drug far too 'liberally', but justifiably so, and use it to include caffeine and the stimulants in tea.
Hahah, I do that too! Because caffeine IS a drug. Really, everything you consume is a drug, even burgers. I just think people use the word to arbitrarily cast things in a bad light. It shouldn't even be a word.
I smoked off an on over about 2 and a half years, so quitting wasn't that bad for me. It doesn't start with the first cigarette, it starts when you incorporate it into habits. Now I occasionally bum a cigarette here and there since I have friends and family who smoke, but that's no good either...
What really got me to quit was when I noticed chest pains that seemed to be more frequent if I smoked. I remember telling a school nurse I wanted to quit, but that I didn't "feel like myself" when I didn't smoke. She reminded me that it doesn't matter how I feel; you're never not yourself, and nobody wants to be dependent on substances just to function.
Also, every time you smoke a cigarette... that's kinda like smoking a Mana leak, isn't it?
Yeah, they put me on antibiotics and Claritin. They were worried about the pain level I was experiencing though.
If you are experience that much pain from a sinus infection, you waited too long =) Though in the future, should you get another sinus infection, the signs will be tell-tale and you won't put it off so long. The biggest giveaway is the raunchy smell, combined with pressure in the sinus area.

Yeah, I know. But I didn't know whether it was an infection or withdrawals from nicotine which was why I waited so long.
Basically when the ibuprofen stopped taking the pain away, I went to the doctor.
Edit: the other messed up part is I have fluid in my ear so my equilibrium is off.
But I just had Easter dinner with the family, and I feel slightly better.

Me too. One day, I suddenly heard a pop sound and it was like I was under water. I went to a wedding that weekend, deaf in one ear. People kept talking to me on that side, and I was like "huh? huh? what?"
That has gotton better but it took a long time. Hearing came back in a few weeks, but the ringing lasted for months. Still some fluid in there bothering me, but I can hear, and theres no ringing. Have to go back to the doc though and ask what to do now.
Just wondering how your going with this - still smoke free? Think I'm going to try again soon. I just know I have to muster up the motivation first or it won't work and I'll cheat
uhm, i dunno if you found out, but as a smoker myself, i know that cigarette withdraws last 2+ weeks...but if you make it 2 weeks your smoke free from there on out.
P.S - quitting smoking is worse than quitting heroine...remember that lol
I've been trying to quit for about three years now to no avail. Mostly because of money restrictions as opposed to the will to stop smoking (which is probably why I can't seem to quit.) but I can go days without cigarettes and find that in that time I'm extremely pissed off and moody, sleep a lot, use other substances to make up for smoking. (usually large quantities of caffeine or alcohol)
Congrats on not being a drug addict anymore and proceeding with your kicking of the cigarettes.
To whoever asked why we picked up smoking in the first place - at least for me I was trying to be a cool kid like all my friends cus' they smoked. I picked it up when I was 12 (I'm 22 now) and my mom is a two pack a day smoker so they were everywhere. I also liked smoking since the first hit I had and find it gives me something to do with my hands. I smoke a lot less when I'm typing a lot/playing a game/playing magic so I'm pretty sure it's a habitual thing. I don't even know, to be honest. It was an awful decision that I regret, though.

You will think about it for the rest of your life... I quit just about 3 years ago now after a 10 year pack every 2 days habit.. the first 2 months sucked big time, thought about smoking all day every day, after that you start think of it less but you'll still always have those triggers that make your crave. Best advice I can give is just keep plugging away and try to associate your "triggers" with other things i.e. I use chewing gum in the car to keep my mind of it, now I find that I crave gum all the time in the car lol.. the more you make a habit of not smoking the easier it is to follow that habit, but trust me when I say you'll never ever reach the point where you just don't want to smoke period. Quitting requires constant mental vigilance and fortitude, your mind needs to be MADE UP. My mom quit 18 years ago and she still tells me she feels like a smoke every now and then but she says the craving are very quick now, couple mins and she is not thinking about it anymore. Goodluck though, hope ya can keep it going!
doing multiple lapses of this is rough. i've done it multiple times in the last few years. though my smoking habit/facination is cigars, which probably has it's differences from cigarettes in terms of quiting.

I stressed myself out too much and started bumming them off friends at school. My brother saw me and got mad at me. But instead of yelling at me, he made a bargain with me that if I stopped again, he'd buy an AVR booster box and we'd throw a draft party. I know, stupid incentive, but it worked and I'm back on the wagon.
But, after that week of smoking 3-4 a day, guess what I got? Another sinus infection. Lol.
So, I've had finals coming up and the stress is unbearable at times, but I've found B-Complex and exercise really sinks the cravings right now.
Anyone who thinks that quitting cigarettes is more difficult than quitting heroin or any opioid are delusional and have no clue what they're talking about. The withdrawals aren't even comparable, psychological or physical. I'm not going into a tirade over this but the notion is absurd.

Should I go back to the doctors?
Edit;
Saw a doc. He gave me a stronger antibiotic. and a non-narcotic / non-habit forming painkiller.
