Please stop running away, I actually have a legitimate question. One that on a brief look around doesn't seem to have been asked lately.
I am running a Mac OS X 10.9.2 laptop, 16Gb RAM, and I am looking at running MTGO. However much of the information I have found has been quite out of date, much of it around 10.5 - 10.6 era OS X, which say to use a full Windows emulator.
I am wondering if there is any more updated advice for someone such as myself (other than, "get a real PC" in which case I point at my 16Gb RAM and then proffer my hoisted middle finger in thouests' general direction in the most heartwarming and endearing way )
In particular I'm curious if anyone has had any success with Wine or some other such "wrapper" program?
I have historically found things like Parallells to be very clumsy and resource hungry so I'd like to avoid that particular character building hell trip (because let's just say I have a LOT of character ;P )
Would appreciate any advice the Tech Support community could offer. Many thanks in advance.
The current client will not be available for any non-Windows operating system. However, the next-generation client is being prototyped in Microsoft® Silverlight, which should work on any operating system. Should Silverlight be chosen as the production platform for the new client, it should operate under almost any operating system.
In the meantime, many have run MTGO successively on Linux/Mac under emulation or dual-boot (e.g. with Parallels or Bootcamp). If you want examples on how people have done this, please see this thread.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it....
Hey Duxx, many thanks for the very speedy response.
I have seen that thread in my travels. It is useful, but as mentioned was just hoping for something less clunky. Any ideas on when the next-gen client comes out?
No, no release date as of yet. Once the new client is out of Beta, shouldn't things get less clunky? I'm not an experienced Mac user, but I wouldn't bash a users preference either.

Actually, this has been false since 2010. They opted for Windows Presentation Foundation over Silverlight. In part because they did not want to re-write the server code as well to support Silverlight.
In essence, no mac/Linux version coming anytime in the V4 run. On top of that, WINE has major issues implementing applications that run off of WPF. This is because WINE uses Mono to implement .NET applications, and Mono has no intentions of adding WPF support.
I am DistractedED and I am a dirty Mac gamer.
