So, it occurred to me just a second ago.. Can HDMI be transferred to computer via USB port? I dunno if anyone has looked into this, but it seems viable in the sense of direct stream. If this is do-able then there would never be a point to EVER buy a capture card for PCIe or some other external crap that is overpriced. Truth be told, I have no experience using one, but I have seen them on the google's image search.
Truthfully, I just don't want to drop more then 20 dollars on something that should be so easy due to all this technology we have.

From what I understand: USB can take a computer image and send it to a HDMI device (in that direction). Are you sure that's not just a HDMI connector for non-HDMI equipped computers. For example, I have a minidisplayport-to-HDMI for my mac. The machine lacks a native HDMI port so I link up through an adapter.
HDMI cannot send the computer images through USB (ie; "downstreaming / downloading from HDMI to USB). There would be an information traffic jam or overload. If even feasible, whatever you wanna record would come out like garbage.

Why? USB only handles so much information at once. What's branded as "USB" is still commonly USB 2.0 which is small amount of information per second (480Mbps) compared to PCIe (tied to SATA standards...maxing out at 6GB/sec like SATAIII). Even USB 3.0 (said in my source to be up to 5GB/sec, though I am unsure if that's a theoretical or actual...never clocked my USB 3.0 personally) cannot funnel such a large amount of HDMI content directly.
PCIe's "information bandwidth" is much larger. These cards can handle and process more at once.
I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
