This is a rant. I've personally witnessed more than a handful of altercations that almost got physical over nothing but a game of cardboard dragons at the LGS or over someone calling someone else a mean name. And these were not 8 year olds, these people were all legal "adults". And even more obnoxious is after realizing it doesn't matter if some asshat called them a pink pony or that it's not a big dealing to lose at a game of luck they go onto to brag "Man I was this close to suplexing then back breakering and piledriving him then finishing it all off with a jump off the ropes err table into an elbow from the sky on that punk!!!!!!111" like it would have made them a hero if they fought this person like someone who gave their life distracting a school shooter so someone else could tackle them and wrestle the gun away from them and end the rampage or like a fireman who died trying to rescue a scared kid from a burning building. Yes losing sucks sometimes and no one likes getting called names but please grow up so we can all just play with our pointy-eared pseudo Native Americans and our enchanted ancient trinkets in peace!
I've only ever raised my fist in anger once at an LCS. I was playing a league EDH game and the person to my right swung at me for lethal. And that's perfectly fine, but then he got up and started grabbing his junk while making thrusting movements against me (he was salty because I had wiped his board twice when he was trying to kill me). One hard elbow to the nuts and thirty minutes later, he's banned from the store for life. I received a warning not to do that again. I am fully aware that if this were anything more than a casual environment I would have received a DCI ban. I didn't care, though, because getting someone's junk in my face is not what I would call a pleasant experience.
TL;DR: Don't go out of your way to antagonize the opponent. At best they'll call a judge on you. At worst you won't be walking out of the store.

Even if the author is silenced, the performance is stopped, the story will not end.
Whether it's a comedy or a tragedy, if there is cheering, the story will continue on.
Just like the many lives.
For the us who are still in it and still in the journey, send warm blessings.
- We will continue to walk down this path until eternity.

Sounds like he deserved that.
I have not seen anyone do anything aggressive at my LGS at all, not even the raising of fists in the air. Cursing of cards, yes, but none towards the players.
