a guy at work, who is in his 50s and single has been on 2 or 3 vacations this year.
I mean, if I had the money to get away for a few days and my own vehicle, I'd almost certainly take a week or two long vacation. I'd enjoy going away by myself because I wouldn't have to worry about doing what others wanna do and only do what I want, at my own pace.
I could think of a few places I'd enjoy going to that are probably less than 6 or 7 hours way from where AI live
my friends mom is 60 something years old widow, she's going to the arctic circle by herself. if a 60 year old can go vacationing by themselves it shouldn't feel strange for a young person to go by themselves. maybe that will inspire some people to get out the door. certainly inspires me.
but as a loner or single person myself i can understand that feeling of you don't have someone to go with you, you want to share the vacation experience with someone on? when your on a single vacation you get a feeling that something is missing?
certainly that 'something is missing feeling" is annoying and held me back at times. if you got the time go.
looking back on it i'd rather have a fun time by myself than the pile of regrets that I have instead.

I've always been dirt poor and traveled with family or boyfriends or for work so the idea of a single vacation is sort of new to me.
If you look at the Groupon vacations page they always assume you're going with one other person, and the rate you see on that page represents one part of a two part package. You pay more if you go by yourself. It might be useful to keep an eye on that just for ideas.
From what I hear from my obscenely rich and obnoxious friends who travel on their rich family's dime, Alaska and the UNESCO world heritage portions of China are nice. Not like I asked about it, they just divulged it. I'm not interested in hearing about their travel stories.
