I was wondering how many of you enjoy conventions - things like Comic Con or others. I used to love going, but as prices started going up in the mid-00's and the cost of getting a table at most Artist's Alleys have skyrocketed, I've found myself (and my friends) have little interest in going. Especially since the previous draw to these kinds of things (cheap anime at Otakon, for instance, or being able to see new stuff) has largely become irrelevant with the internet. Although I will say the smell of the average convention goer has gotten better in the last ten years
So what do you guys like/not like about conventions?
I used to love going to Wizard World in Chicago back in the 90s, but as the cost to attend just kept on climbing for an event that was 75% vendors I gave up on it.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
I love gaming cons! Being able to play new games with strangers is really fun to me. Also, I get to trade Magic with new people. I want to go to a Comic Con but the tickets sell out too fast and in some cases the organizers are totally clueless about how to deal with creepers and **** shaming. NYCC sold out quick but I'll probably buy a ticket off of an auction site*. I picked NYCC because it's within my state and so traveling there will be cheap.
*=It's illegal to sell NYCC tickets...unless you can deliver them within 30 days on most sites. So once the tickets get mailed out it'll be ok to buy off an auction site.
I think my issue is largely that the prices in my area have largely doubled while the quality has decreased. I used to hit Otakon almost every year, then transitioned to working a table in artist's alley with some friends, but we've been pushed out by strict rules about fan art* combined with skyrocketing prices and restrictions on the number of people who can be behind the table (we used to have four guys so that we could rotate who is actually sitting pretty easily).
*Which most people flaunt. I got in trouble for a giant robot pastiche that a volunteer insisted was a transformer (it was actually a gundam/robotech fusion), while across from us the entire cast of One Piece is wearing suits and that's okay.
So what do you guys like/not like about conventions?

things I hate:
1. lists.
b. inconsistencies.
V. incorrect math.
2. quotes in signatures
III: irony.
there are two kinds of people in the world: those who can make reasonable conclusions based on conjecture.
