Hey folks, I'm taking a step back from MtG as far as spending money on the hobby is concerned. I'm still going to play casual-competitively with my friends via Cube and Commander and whatnot, but I'm not going to keep up with the competitive constructed formats. The majority of my collection is being peddled off and I've already got one fairly big sale lined up.
The majority of the money I make off of my collection is going directly into another hobby and the travel costs associated with it. The leftovers I'm going to use to vitalize and explore some interests I've had lingering for a while. Cutting to the chase, I'm going to start infusing my own liquors and liqueurs! I've done a little bit of research, and it's gotten me fascinated, so I'm going to sate that interest with trial-and-error and more research. Unique spirits make excellent gifts--at least here in the south--and they also just make cool party favors and conversation pieces.
Anyways, my love for Magic is no less than it was before I decided to start peddling off my collection. I'm even still considering producing my own version of The Booze Cube! To help compile "ideas" and "profiles" to work towards with infusions, I've decided to attempt defining an infused spirit for each of the colors of Magic.
Do you have any suggestions for base liquors or flavors to infuse into said liquors for any of Magic's colors?
I have a coworker who is a professional beer taster and he says there are conventions that have different liqueur flavor tastings. I think they're usually in New Orleans because he said there's a lot of steampunk folks there.
What a fantastic idea! Me and a couple buddies recently have ventured into homebrewing (first batch will be ready in two days!) and I might have to look into some themed brews once we hone our skills. I certainly think a good starting point would be equating a particular liquor to each color:
R:Whiskey, definitely whiskey you can't tell me that Manic Vandal get's that angry on his own, and that flavor text. W:Vodka, with all that grain these guys like the clear stuff. U:Rum, obviously with all those Octopuses around these swashbucklers love the XXX. G:Tequila, cacti are plants too. Besides green always has the most scantily clad women, there must be a reason. B:Hmmmm...this is where I get stuck. My first thought is Malt Liquor cause that stuff makes you feel like death in the morning. But that doesn't really fit the theme. I'll leave this one up to someone more creative than myself.

Absinthe, and/or bitters.

Make a cycle of Ravnica themed drinks. Something absinthe based would fit pretty well, being a green drink that contains wormwood. Dark beer for like medieval monks used to make. should be smooth and fruity.
Maybe throw in Ashnod's Coupon to have them buy you another drink?

My cube list on CubeTutor.
Both are very much under construction. Please stop by and talk about it!

I'll +1 this. I regularly partake of schnapps while slinging cards anyways!
