Okay, so I've been wondering. I know that when we battle against the mod, it's pretty easy to tell which way the battle is going, whether a win or loss, and rp accordingly, but what about when we are battling other players? I mean, we both want to win but, it would be as if someone would have to willingly decide to lose, especially if the Pokemon are so close in skill as they are now. Could you clear this up for me, maybe I'm missing something?
Yeah, Pokemon types are probably a good indicator, but I don't think it should be the only indicator. Maybe the mod could interject in the battle every couple of rounds to describe the overall status and energy of the Pokemon? It would just help push close battles one way or the other without one person willingly deciding to fail, or the battle going on longer then it should.
No. That is the challenge of this game, and it is not easy and it takes some getting used to.
In Magic the RPG, you can go into every battle thinking "I want to win this battle", and if you win or not entirely depends on the numbers.
However, in this game, you can't enter every battle with that mentality. You have to be willing to lose. If neither player is, the battle will last forever and I will step in. You just have to be willing to step back every once in a while and say to yourself "Am I winning this battle?" and sometimes, the answer will be no.Look at what I do in my battles (both the Cherubi/Pikachu and the Sandshrew/Swinub in Route 6 are good examples) and try to do that yourself. I know I have 80 characters and you have one so it's harder for you to lose, but you have to do it. You'll get over it

No. What I am asking is for YOU personally to interject everyone few rounds and describe the status and energy of your pokemon. You dont have to type it for the other person to see, but I expect you guys to know this and act accordingly.
Re Types: Gosh, I wish pokemon didnt have types now. Let me just say this. Types should impact the battle, but the impact should be small. I do not want fire trainers giving up everytime they see a water pokemon. In this game, it is possible to win despite. I haven't watched the anime in 5-7 years, but I still remember how they did it their. Try to mimic that.
Does Route 6 go to the same place as Route 1? or are the people on Route 6 going to have to back track?

Hey guys. Sorry you have been frozen for the past two weeks, I am deeply, deeply sorry, and with the upcoming weekend I should find some time to do a mega update and then normal updating speed should continue. Thanks again for your patience.
Unfortunately, I have the feeling this has come to an end again. But if you get the ball rolling again, Video, I will come back to it. This is a fun world to be in
Don't worry, Video posted in Magic:The RPG, that he should be back by around the 24th, and that is when he expects the Pokemon World to start up again.
Yes, I suppose I should have posted that here as well. December-February is a very hectic time in my life for which I apologize and I should have done something about prior. However, it will all be over by the 24th and I should restore this game then. Thank you and sorry.
Umm... If this thing's gonna be revived, may I try helping out with it? Perhaps with the ideas or something? I'd really like this to be up and running again. Videos kinda dropped out on us.

Yeah, I'm going to PM Nai, and see what steps we need to do to make this happen. In the mean time, any ideas on how we can improve this, and make it lively again?
One thing that comes to me is the whole concept of "unlearned moves". I never quite understood it, and it just seemed unnecessary and easy to abuse [Ex: Squirtle use unlearned Hydro Pump!] I think that mods should be able to interject in battles to cause random things like a Pokemon learning a new move, evolving, or other unforeseen random events (However the general flow of the battle would still be decided by the players). Does this sound good? What are your ideas?
Okay, I haven't been made WPL yet but I've been told it will be soon.
So for the time being I'll just post what I've written so far, and see what everyone's reactions are. Let me remind everyone this is still rough, and not the final version. It's... extensive. Any questions would be appreciated.
Classes:
Journey Oriented
Trainer
A trainer’s main goal is to earn 8 gym badges and thus gain a ticket into the Risin National Pokemon League. If they win they League, they will be crowned National Champion. 8 badges also enable you to challenge the Elite 4. If you defeat all of the Elite 4, you will be granted membership, and the other members will vote someone out. The life of a trainer is mostly about Pokemon battling, and refining battling skills to become stronger and stronger.
Coordinator
A coordinator can choose from to branches of focus
Contest
In contest, it is all about the show. A coordinator works hard to entertain the judges and crowd. A Pokemon Contest consist of two rounds:
Show Time
The 1st round is the Show time round, where the Pokemon uses his or her battle moves and prowess to woo the judges and crowd. They are graded by a 1-10 point scale by a panel of 3 judges, and a computerized average of each audience member’s score. Depending on the amount of contenders, a certain number progress to the next round.
Battle Time
The 2nd round is when the semi-finalists battle it out. Each Pokemon starts with a set amount of points. Everytime something happens in the battle that the judges like, (and to a lesser extent the audience likes), your Pokemon will gain points. When something happens that is disliked (such as a botched move, or a devastating hit) you lose points. Thus, a majority of these rounds are won without either Pokemon fainting. However, if a Pokemon does faint, it is an automatic loss. A 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place win at a Contest gains you a ribbon.
Olympiads
Olympiads focus solely on the athletic (and in certain Olympiad Stadiums mental) ability. Your Pokemon takes part in a competition (it is different at each Stadium), and actively competes against others. Depending on the event, it may or may not have judges involved. The events can range from a track race, to swimming, to even a game of Poksitball. Like Contest, there are two rounds.
Game Time
The 1st Round is where all the participants take part in the athletic event. The top placers move on to the next round
Battle Time
Unlike Contest, this round is actually a normal battle. A medal is awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. The winner of Round 1 also receives a special 1st* place medal.
Championships
The top levels for Contest is the Risin Grand Festival. The top level for Olympiads is the Risin Olympiad Relays. A full team of at least six Pokemon well versed in the competition life is recommended for entry.
Prerequisites
To enter either the Olympiad OR the Grand Festival, a total of 75 Coordinator points must be accumulated. Points are awarded as so:
1st Place Contest Ribbon - 15
2nd Place Contest Ribbon - 10
3rd Place Contest Ribbon - 7.5
1st Place Olympiad Gold Medal - 10
2nd Place Olympiad Silver Medal - 5
3rd Place Olympiad Bronze Medal - 7.5
1st Place Round 1 Olympiad Crystal Medal - 5
To enter in the Relays or Festival, you do not need all Ribbons or all Medals, you just need the required 50 points. It is possible to enter the Relays with only ribbons, and enter the Festival with only medals
Mission Oriented
Breeder
If one was to mix all the classes together, they would probably be a Pokemon Breeder. A Breeder’s main goal is to breed Pokemon for health and happiness, usually for the clients that commission them. Using their skills in Pokemon Husbandry, they create the optimum conditions to allow Pokemon and their offspring to be at their best potential. Breeders make use of incense, certain foods, certain locations, and sometimes even music. Many Breeders end up being hired by Science Labs, Pokecenters, Pokemon Gyms, National Ranger Parks, and even Criminal Teams.
To be an official Pokemon Breeder, one must breed two Pokemon together to create a healthy offspring. This offspring is taken to one of the many Breeding Centers in Risin, and examined by the board. If it passes regulations, you will be considered an Official Breeder. Fail, and they have the power to prevent you from taking important Pokemon Breeder Missions. Fail badly enough (Pokemon is disgusting half-breed spawn of Satan), they can ban you from the Pokemon Breeder Association for life, and you can be arrested as a felon if you are caught Breeding Pokemon.
Breeder is a class that actually works very well together with the other classes. You can be a Breeder-Trainer, Breeder-Scientist, or Breeder-Gangster. It is also perfectly fine if you decide to be a completely freelance Pokemon Breeder, taking missions and jobs wherever you can find them.
Gangster [Teams Rocket, Aqua, Magma, Galactic and ???]
There are many Criminal Teams that plague the Pokemon World, and they’re recruiting! To join a Criminal Team you first have to find a member, and convince them your on their side. If you gain enough notoriety, whether through superior battling skills or criminal activities, you could be approached by a Criminal Team member. If your ambitious enough, and think you’ve got the resources, you could try creating your on Criminal team.
Once on a Team, you may have to go through basic training, and later do missions to further the Team’s goals.
Known Teams (There may be Criminal Teams that are not general knowledge)
Team Rocket
Natives of Kanto, Team Rocket has finally reestablished some foot hold in Risin after their defeat at the hands of “Red” and the retirement of Giovanni. They generally focus on Pokemon theft, and nefarious research. Not much is none about them by the people of Risin, except for the fact that they’re in the region, and they’re bad news.
Team Aqua
Essentially a group of Hoenn-born Eco-terrorist, obsessed with the protection, and expansion of the ocean. In the past year, a plot by Team Aqua has left the region of Almia in flooded chaos. Confident from they’re recent victory, many of Team Aqua have begun to cause trouble for Risin. The spike in crimes connected to Team Aqua has become a hot button topic for Risin politicians and journalists. It is easy to say that Team Aqua is essentially the most feared Team in Risin
Team Magma
Also natives of Hoenn, Team Magma is reeling from it’s devastating loss in it’s gang war with Team Aqua in Almia. Now that Aqua had layed roots in Risin, Magma is trying it’s best to do so as well, hoping to counter whatever damage Aqua may cause. While not exactly the most legal group of individuals, Team Magma has been seen as more well-minded and favorable by the population of Risin by actively standing against Team Aqua. A few politicians have been so bold as publicly announcing support for Team Magma.
The Es Cade Corporation (A Subsidiary of Team Galactic)
To most of the population of Risin, the Es Cade Corporation is just another International corporation. A few know that it is controlled by Team Galactic, and even fewer know of it’s nefarious intentions. The Es Cade Corporation, and Team Galactic, operate themselves more like a business than a criminal gang. Advertisements for the Es Cade Corporation can be found on the television and radio, and Es Cade is also an official sponsor of the Risin Grand Festival.
There may be many other gangs hidden throughout the Pokemon World, and if you wish, you can try your best to seek them out.
Ranger
Pokemon Rangers are the stewards of nature. Their job is to protect National Parks and various other important, unprotected swathes of nature. Ranger Unions can be found throughout Risin, that help to organize the many rangers and attempt to thwart the plans of Pokemon poachers. Rangers will usually accept missions from the Union to ensure the natural balance is maintained, and that human beings are not harming Pokemon habitats.
While even normal Trainers can accept Ranger missions, to obtain a full Ranger license, you must go through basic training. The highest level Ranger missions will only be available to official Rangers.
Official Rangers can also gain access to Wildlife Sanctuaries that are cut off from the general public. They also gain the license to use the Capture Stylers.
Capture Stylers are special devices that tap into your Party’s Pokemon, and give the human individual special abilities. They also aid in calming and herding feral Pokemon
Police Officer
Unlike Rangers, Police Officers primarily work in cities and towns, making sure the law is being followed. While Rangers do from time to time battle with criminal teams, it is the police officers that probably do it on an everyday basis.
There are many ranks within the Police Force
Officer Cadet
Cadets are training officers, usually groups of three under the watchful eye of a superior team leader.
Field Officer
After Cadets go through training, they become Field Officers. Field Officers work the streets with one other partner
After Field Officer, you can choose one of the many branches
Gang Unit
They deal specifically with the Criminal Teams
Pokemon Unit
They specialize in Pokemon crimes, including but not limited to; abuse, misdemeanors, breaking of League rules
Detective
They work mystery cases; Murders, thefts, etc. If they are found to be Gang or Pokemon Related, they are passed on to those specific units. The head detective of that particular case, usually remains on said case if it moves though.
RBI (Risin Bureau of Investigations)
Time in the Detective, Pokemon, or Gang Units are required for consideration into RBI
If a case seems to span throughout Risin, the RBI will get involved. They use the latest in technology and espionage to take down their enemies. Because of the resurgence of Team Aqua, the RBI has been doubling it’s efforts to crack down on them.
RISFIA( Risin International Special Forces and Intelligence Agency)
Any crime that has international implications is being worked on by the RISFIA. The RISFIA has even more advanced espionage equipment than RBI, and is involved in hundreds of covert operations all over the world. RISFIA recruits only those it ask for. Usually, they are taken from the Police Force, but occasionally others are recruited. There is a rumor that last year’s winner of the Risin Olympiad Relays is a member of RISFIA
Scientist
Scientists, like Prof. Oak, Elm, Birch, Maple, etc. work tirelessly to understand Pokemon, and make technology available to make life easier.
As a Scientist, you must work through the ranks, until you are well known, and your opinion can be trusted and respected.
Intern
As an intern, you are basically the lab gopher of whichever Scientist you are assigned to. You may get lucky and end up working for Prof. Maple, helping him to a ground breaking discovery. Or you could be unlucky, stuck in an outpost in the frozen tundra, studying the fecal samples of Piplups.
Lab Assistant
As a lab assistant, you have control over your own Interns, and you have more choice in what you want to study. As a Lab Assistant you can choose from these concentrations:
Evolution
Breeding
Type-Specific
Environment
Moves
Technology
Create Your Own
If you decide to create your on Concentration, it must be MOD approved, and you have to convince two other Lab Assistants to help you get started on a Research Outpost
Once a concentration is chosen, they are put under the supervision of a Professor.
Professor
When you have spent time a large amount of time as a Lab Assistant, your supervising Professor will allow you a Graduate Research Grant
After your research has been completed, and your findings approved by the Risin Bureau of Science (RBS), you will become a Professor.
As a Professor, you have the responsibility of giving away starter Pokemon to beginning trainers, and continuing research in your concentration. You also have a whole entire army of interns and lab assistants to manage. Hey, but it’s all for science!
Medic (Pokecenter Technician)
In the Medic Class track, you will focus on healing, and the health of Pokemon
Nurse
As a nurse you are assigned to a Pokecenter. You may be living the high life in the bustling Pestachio City, or you could end up bored out of your mind in the middle of the desert. It’s all random. Usually you will be in a Pokecenter with four other nurses.
Nurses man the Pokecenter, and also are called out into the field if a Trainer request for medical aid in the wild.
Nurses may also be required to accompany other Class-Type missions. For instance, Rangers may need a nurse to accompany them into a restricted Wildlife Sanctuary
Doctor
After enough time as a nurse, you become a Pokemon Doctor. You can accept many missions that require your medical expertise. As a doctor, you must also choose a concentration
Physical Wounds
Viruses and Internal Sickness
Pandemics
Doctors usually are given jurisdiction over three or four Pokecenters.
Gym Leader
To become a Gym Leader in Risin you need to do the following things:
Earn 8 Gym Badges in Risin
At least participate in the Risin League Championships
Buy/Rent the space available as a Gym
This may require a large amount of money, so you may need to find interested investors. Most Gym Leaders either inherit their Gyms, remodel their own homes, or take out a loan and charge for Gym membership
To join the Risin League, the Risin League Officials have to approve of your Gym, and you must have a sizable amount of followers (at least 4). Once you are approved, you can give out badges, to trainers who defeat you.
Being a Gym Leader isn’t just about giving out badges. Gym Leaders are seen as leaders of the community, and may have the opportunity to take on dangerous missions set forth by the government, or other community members.
Elite 4 Member
To become 1 of the Elite 4:
You must have finished in the TOP 10 of the Risin Pokemon League
You must find (their an elusive bunch) and defeat every member
Once you have done so, the current Elite 4 votes out one of their own. If there is a tie, you break it.
As an Elite 4 you essentially become a celebrity. You can take on the most dangerous missions, and money basically just falls out of the sky for you.
But be wary, for you can also be challenged, and if you lose, and are voted out, you can only return if you have reached the TOP 10 of the Risin Pokemon League again.
You’ve got an idea?
If you have an idea for a class that is not here, PM a mod, and we will see if it’s doable. There are many, many more options, but beware; Most other classes that are out there really just boil down to hobbies. If you want to persue them consider pairing them with another class. For instance, you can be a Trainer-Breeder-Photographer, or a Police Officer-Farmer, or a Coordinator-Trainer, or Medic-Journalist
Examples of more classes:
Farmer, Photographer, Journalist, Teacher, Politician, Fisherman, Store Owner, Businessman/woman, Theif, Magician, Hobo, Lawyer( lol if you can make that interesting, more power to you) the only limit is your imagination!
What do you mean by Journey Oriented and Mission Oriented?
Good Question!
Essentially this would mean what the character would spend a majority of their time doing. While Trainers and Coordinators can follow a linear path to their respective Championships (thus a "journey"), the other classes advancement is measured predominately through missions and quest. Now, this does not mean there will be no missions available for Trainers and Coordinators, it just means that it is possible to completely ignore them and still have advancement in the game. It would be very difficult for a Scientist, Gangster, or Police Officer to ignore missions. A Breeder is kind of in the weird middle ground where they can tilt either way.
Also, when you create a character you choose a Class:
If you so desired, you could have a 3rd or 4th, but this would complicate things, and might be too much for a player. At any time, a player may switch his or her classes. For example, if a Trainer decides they are done fighting Gym Leaders, and wants to become a Police Officer, all they have to do is inquire at a Police Office or Academy. The Mod in charge will approve of the change, and the character can update their profile.
I forsee a problem with people being at different points. Scientist characters will require many NPCs as trainers/co-ordinators won't be sticking around them much. Similarly, trainers will need plenty of NPCs to keep them busy. As will Gym leaders, Elite 4 members, Nurses, etc. Whilst this isn't strictly bad, per say, it does minimize the amount of activity players have between each other. Classes are liable to stay away from each other, since unless they have a battle to fight (a la Gym leaders, who are really stationary trainers with a specific typing), they most interaction they'll probably have is 'Hey nurse, I need my pokemon healed' 'Okay'. Etcetera.
Of course, once there's enough people in the game, this won't be so big a problem. In my opinion, scientists/medics (assistants/doctors and above... Speaking of which, there should probably a 'higher' rank of medic above doctor) should be able to 'recruit' journey based characters for missions. This way, these characters are able to interact more as well as giving journey based characters a larger scope of what they can do.
By the way, when do you think this game will be up and running?

Yes, I think that to foster interactivity, we as Mods can make missions that require, trainers and specialized classes to work together. We can also steer these specialized classes into interaction with trainers and coordinators, as Videojuegos did by having Immersa (forgot her characters name) infiltrate the Livian Gardens Tournament. If we're smart, we shouldn't have this problem. Also, hopefully just through traveling through the routes, there is chance for interaction.
As far as the missions go, we can leave them open for a period of time (no more than a couple days, or a week depending on the time of year). If no more sign up, we can fill it with NPCs just as Video did with the tournament.
As for when this will all begin? Honestly right now I have no idea. I'm waiting for Nai to make me WPL so I can change the threads around. As soon as that happens, I can get the Create A Character thread going. At the earliest, it might be open tomorrow night, but I make no promises.

To become a Gym Leader in Risin you need to do the following things:
Are those class types?
When do you select the classes? Can you change them?
For example:
Primary Class: Trainer
Secondary Class: Photographer
or
Primary Class: Scientist
Secondary Class: Coordinator
If you so desired, you could have a 3rd or 4th, but this would complicate things, and might be too much for a player. At any time, a player may switch his or her classes. For example, if a Trainer decides they are done fighting Gym Leaders, and wants to become a Police Officer, all they have to do is inquire at a Police Office or Academy. The Mod in charge will approve of the change, and the character can update their profile.
I hope that cleared it up.
As far as the missions go, we can leave them open for a period of time (no more than a couple days, or a week depending on the time of year). If no more sign up, we can fill it with NPCs just as Video did with the tournament.
As for when this will all begin? Honestly right now I have no idea. I'm waiting for Nai to make me WPL so I can change the threads around. As soon as that happens, I can get the Create A Character thread going. At the earliest, it might be open tomorrow night, but I make no promises.
