I guess 6 would be fine. I understand that is probably important to set a limit somehow, I just don't want to be too limited. We should probably just see how it plays out then reassess later or something.
One last question: Will "shiny" pokemon be factored into any of this? Would they be considered rare pokemon, or are you giving that whole aspect of it a pass? I don't think it was used in the first version, but I ask because it may come up later on.
I think that it should be a possibility for Pokemon to become shiny when they evolve. The pokemon would need to have been takin' care of very well and maybe even be holding a certain new item. That's just an idea though.
EDIT: I'm suprised no one has told me they think this is a stupid idea yet.
Personally, I think the number of possible attacks should be higher than six, otherwise, combat could easily get stale.
Well, the problem with too many attacks is that it opens up degeneracies with a lot of TMs--if your Pokemon has eight different types of different elemental attacks, there's very little that can stand against it. Plus, the six moves will gradually change over time--and I'm under the assumption that kicks and biting and stuff won't be official moves, but they'll be usable in battles. I never got bored battling in the old game...
Starting list looks pretty good to me, although Riolu seems stronger than a lot of them. You should emphasize that Aron has to be RP'ed as pretty slow; with that drawback, he's OK, but without it he's awfully tough.
Hey, is there anyone else on the forums going to Rice University in Houston? We could ALWAYS use more people in our Magic games. PM me if you want to play sometime
Michael thought quickly. "Pikachu, run up next to it and hit it with a thundebolt while right next to it" They small mouse was way ahead of him, sprinting up the much larger Lairon, showcasing it's speed to try to confuse the Lairon and then suddenly shot out a quick but strong blast of lightning at the Lairon.
As long as you RP it well, battles never get stale. Even with only 2 moves.
I like the list, it seems pretty balanced. I'm happy to see Ponyta on it, it makes things easier to resurrect Nico for this world
Ditto I think is fine, he only ever knows Transform, everything else is breeding and/or TMs. Eevee, I dunno. It's small, cute, and ever-so-fluffy, probably a blast to RP with, but I'm a little hesitant on any starters that would require a stone to evolve. (Not entirely the case with Eevee, but my point stands)
But you have piqued my curiosity with the stars.
What do they mean?
Will we ever know?
. . .
Can you tell me in a PM?
Please?
Pretty please, with a Cleffa on top?
(knows this won't work, obviously)

I was thinking of picking Aron. According to the show, he isn't that slow, even for his size. However, it could easily be played as a pokemon that simply attempts to outlast his opponent, and nigh refuses to go down.
I'm a little hesitant on any starters that would require a stone to evolve.
From the list pokemon that need a stone to evolve even once are: Vulpix, Jigglypuff, Growlithe, Staryu, Skitty, Pikachu, Clefairy. Plus there are a couple that you would need a stone to reach its final form, stone evolution won't be a problem I would think.
3. Does anyone know how they work the Pokemon Contests in the anime?
Yes. I've watched several of them.
In the first round, the participating trainers do some sort of routine with their Pokemon, trying to impress the judges. One I recall involved May with her Beautifly, throwing a frisbee around the stage and having her Beautifly "catch" it with wind and such. The routines are choreographed beforehand and usually involve the trainer and the Pokemon performing in some way, using moves creatively and impressively.
In the second round, the trainers actually battle each other--but it's not a normal battle. Each trainer's Pokemon's picture is up on a big screen above the stage, and they each start with a certain number of 'points', indicated by a yellow HP-like bar above the picture of the Pokemon. As the Pokemon fight, they can never gain points--but they lose points when the opponent does well, or when they slip up and make a mistake. For instance, if Beautifly gets his with an attack and is thrust backward--bit recovers--then it loses few points. If it's thrown out of the air and smashes into the stage in an awkward way, it loses a lot of points. The match is over when a Pokemon has either been knocked out or lost all its points.
I'll try to post a video. But it's really subjective.

Just a thought, could there be some sort of levelling system? Maybe not numerical, but maybe 'Starting, Rookier, Inexperienced, Standard, Experienced, Veteran, etc' or something to that degree; something that stops a rank newbie who's taught his pokemon a few TMs and evolved it from beating an elite trainer with years under his belt of training. I'd like this just to be able to get an idea of how I should RP my pokemon and maybe have some grounding in who should win battles aside from choice of pokemon and strategy.

Will you allow for exceptions to the list if it's not overpowered and we can come up with a solid RP reason behind it? I would really like to start with Meditite, however it's not on the list.

No matter how hard you try, you can't stop us now!
@ Seraph Prime: I would greatly prefer If you took one of the list, but if you truly need a Meditite, I might think about it.
@Dranith: This is an important part of RPing. You must be willing to accept it and lose if a opponent is clearly stronger than you. For example, if any of you fools get attack by a Beedrill on route 1, you probably will not be able to defeat it. There is such a thing as an upset, but I expect you to RP well enough that you will not beat such a trainer. Also, this is why I have put TMs for every move into the game. That way, people wont be getting Fire Blast and Blizzard too soon in the game.
@ Everyone: No one has a pokedex yet just so you know, you have to go to someone to get it "I wonder who?!"
Also, I'll do a mass update later, expect for me to one do a mass update once per day.
It's not imerative, there just happens to be a lack of my favorite type of pokemon, fighting and Meditite happens to be my favorite fighting type. If you would prefer I can choose something else or develop a much more in depth character bio that would warrant an exception.

Well, there is Machop, Tyrouge, Torchic, and Chimchar for fighting types (and I know the last two technically aren't fighting types, but they become them) I would hope you could use one of them
Are we allowed to add backstory to our characters after we've already made them?

About how long until the character thread goes up?
I also PMed you a while ago about this WP, did you ever get it?
Also, anyone want to comment on my strating list a few posts back. Any comments on Eevee and Ditto? I am unsure about these two.
