Well this doesn't seem to be going well, Serph thought to himself. He called back Nincada, and called out his newly caught, but still injured Mudkip. He only needed it for this one moment though.
"Mudkip, knock it off the branch into the muck!"
Even in his weakened state, Mudkip managed to produce a powerful stream of water aimed at the Venonat that was taken completely by surprise.

Venonat was hit by the stream of water, and fell into the muck below the tree it had rested in. It thrashed about in the water and mud, trying to right itself, but it was clearly distracted for the moment.
Serph recalls the still worn out mudkip and calls out rattata. This will be a rough fight due to the terrain, but everyone else is fairly exhausted.
"Alright rattata, get in there!"
Rattata begins barreling towards the venonat as fast as he can.

Rattata caught the insect completely off-guard, and charged the unsuspecting creature right into a tree. Venonat righted itself and tried to climb the tree to a safe distance, but appeared to struggle getting very far. It was clearly becoming worn out from the battle.
The dog Pokemon shivers slightly, obviously displeased with the damp and muck. The frog Pokemon is fine, though. It happily splashes into a puddle and gathers up a glob of mud.
"Stop that! No throwing---aaaagh!" Trish yells as she narrowly dodges.
"Guh-huh-unk!" the Pokemon laughs.
"Come on," says Trish, noticing Houndour bare its fangs at their new 'friend.' "Let's go find some strong Pokemon to fight."
My apologies, Jenesis. I didn't realize that you still wanted to continue. Now that I know, I will make sure the updates are regular.

Trish wanders the swamp looking for pokemon to fight with her pokemon friends by her side. After about 20 minutes, it looks like no pokemon has reared its head to face the traveler. However, Trish notices a small glint in the bushes to the right.

Croagunk hops over to what looks to be a small pokeball-shaped container. He picks in up to show Trish, but before she can grab it, a long blue-tinted vine shoots out, grabs it, and pulls it into the bushes to the left.

Hey Jenesis. Sorry for the delay. I had finals, so I wasnt able to get to this. They are done now, so you can expect speedy updates.
Houndour blasts fire into the bush where the vine came from, and Trish hears a sharp shreak followed by what sounds like fire being put out by water. A few seconds later, a small pokemon wrapped in vines, burnt black by the fire, runs out and tries to Tackle Houndour.

Now that it's out in the open, Trish recognizes the bundle of vines as a Tangela - the Gym leader of her hometown, Celadon City, specializes in the Grass type. The panicked Pokemon isn't very fast, and Houndour can dodge out of the way easily.
The nerve of that Poke-thief! "Use Ember on it again!" Trish shouts to Houndour. "But make sure you don't hit that capsule!"
As the tangela is already weakened by the previous attack on it, it is unable to dodge out of the way of the second one, and takes another ember directly. It seems to do the job, and tangela drops down, fainted. The pokeball shaped capsule rolls out of it's clutches.

"Good job, Houndour." Trish walks over to the capsule and bends down to pick it up. Her Pokemon gather around as she inspects it, then tentatively pokes the center button with her thumb...
The pokeball pops open when Trish presses the small button in the middle. Inside, instead of finding any pokemon, she finds a small note. Trish unwraps the note to find 1000 pokedollars!
Also, the Tangela wakes up. Noticing that Trish is occupied, it starts running into the bush, away from her Houndour.

Trish hears the Tangela run away into the bush, but she ignores it. Fighting weak Pokemon would be a waste of time, anyway. "Nice work, Croagunk," she says, stuffing the Pokedollars into her wallet. "Just a little more training, and we should be in top fighting shape for this Gym Leader!"
As trish wanders through the swamp, looking for pokemon to fight, she stumbles upon a odd area of grassland in the middle of the swamp. A small oasis, as it were, from the mucky goo that surrounds it. In the center of this outcropping, a medium-sized, green pokemon is sitting on a rock. It doesn't notice her yet.

As her pokedex hovers over the green pokemon's silhouette, it makes a small ping.
"Scyther, the Mantis Pokémon. Its claws are sharp as swords, and it is a powerful flyer. This Pokémon is rarely seen by humans and almost never captured."
The Scyther makes a motion as if it heard something, but doesn't seem to do anything just yet.

Almost never captured? thinks Trish. That sounds like a challenge if I ever heard one. Just you watch me, Pokedex!
Trish lifts a boot out of the swamp and softly trudges into the clearing, hoping she won't startle the Scyther into fleeing. Houndour pads along at her heels.
Trish locks eyes with the Scyther, holding her ground, then suddenly makes a motion toward the puddle of mud where Croagunk waits. "Croagunk! Use Astonish!"
Croagunk, still covered in mud, bounds forward and leaps up into the air toward the Scyther, widening its eyes and extending its tongue in an effort to look as scary as possible. "Gaaaaaaaaaaaa~hnk!"
