Josh was about to issue a command when Ixion flexed her muscles--the sign for the Leafeon to strike. He couldn't follow the grass-type at all, and it rammed her head on. "You should be able to see charges like that! That's why we've been doing all this speed training! Keep your eyes on it and ready a Flame Wheel!"
Ixion's wheel of flames wreathed Leafeon in light for a brief moment, then it was gone again. "Keep moving, try to trip it up with some razor leaves. Aim for its legs and feet!" As Leafeon dashed around the immediate area, bursts of leaves would fly from its position before it darted away. The speed, combined with the leaves of the attack, appeared as though Ixion was stuck in an autumn whirlwind.
Most of the leaves that touched Ixion burned to cinders after they'd done their work, but they still pierced her skin. It was about this time that Josh started to learn there were different kinds of speed. The kind of speed Leafeon had was a different kind than Ixion had, and it was a different kind than Saber had, too. It was definitely a sight to see. "Watch closely and follow up with another one!" (Flame Wheel. Sorry for the spam but she doesn't have a lot of options yet.)
OOC: Don't worry about attack spam, sometimes it has to be done
Leafeon was scorched again, and picked up a bit of a limp. "Darn it! Get away, and use your synthesis to heal up again. Watch out for counterattacks." Leafeon managed to get out of immediate danger of the Ponyta's fire attack, and used the ambient light to heal itself of some damage, including the limp. It then puased and waited for the right moment to strike again. (hp yellow)
"They can't keep this up forever!" Josh encouraged Ixion. "Don't stop now--bathe it in fire!" After rearing and stomping the ground with her hard hooves, the Ponyta dashed toward the Leafeon again. (Flame Wheel)
"Thanks for the battle. You were actually a great opponent for me--I'm trying to train my Pokémon for speed. Good luck with the rest of your trip," Josh waved as he took off northwest again.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Josh knew finding one wouldn't be easy, and it would be a fluke to find one within the first few minutes of his search. He dismounted Ixion and had it ambush the wild Aipom with a wild charge. (Tackle)
OOC: I thought I did. Do you want the cards reposted at the opening post of each individual battle?
Ixion fearlessly ran into the dust cloud as she trampled the Aipom. When she turned around to try it again, she shook her head rapidly and blinked repeatedly. (Unable to do anything, recovering from the sand.)
"Buck him off, Ixion!" Josh cried as the Pokémon slashed across her back. Three, four, five, six slashes before her flaming mane burst higher. Sounding a loud cry, the fire-type reared, then started jumping and heaving in random directions. He gasped. Whoa...she can be really wild! I'm glad I never agitated her... (Flame Wheel)
Ixion reared up in fright, almost falling clean over. "Don't let it get to you! Now's not the time to let up--you're almost there!" (Flinched, can't act)
Josh winced as he heard Ixion's painful cries over and over as the Aipom raked deeper into her wounds. Three, four, five, six...the count still climbed. "You gotta try to buck it off and run over it again! Get it into a rhythm!" (Flame Wheel)
The flare of the mane and tail as Ixion started her (his?) attack scorched Aipom rather harshly. It fled to a safe distance, and put out the flicker of flame on it's badly singed tail. Defensively, it started to kick up sand and dust again, trying to hide itself and buy some time. (Sand-attack, hp yellow, burned)
Ixion squinted through the blast of airborne sediment, looking out for a large tail that would be a complete stick-out in the rainforest. "You've got it on the run, Ixion! Find it and keep going! Just one more should do it!" Of course, it wasn't nearly that easy. Not only did Josh's Pokémon still suffer the effects of being blinded from before, the cloud of sand made it even harder. She surveyed the area more carefully as the cloud dispersed, mane blazing to prepare the final blow. (Hopefully the last flame wheel but I somehow doubt it.)
Ixion spotted the Aipom hiding by a tree, and charged it. Aipom ended up wreathed in flames again, and scurried off into the distance. There was a splash of water, followed by a second splash, and then nothing.
Congrats! You defeated a wild Aipom! Ixion gains +4 experience
Josh didn't think a wild Pokémon would come this close to town. Ixion already walking alongside Josh, he sent her into battle against the bug-type. "Alright, Ixion. See if you can jump this thing with an Ember shot."
The embers succeeded in lighting Kricketune up like a candle, but the bug had enough wits about it to burst out of the flames with a fury cutter aimed right for Ixion.
Ixion sounded a cry of anguish. She suffered the same fate as Saber in the desert--the insect had cut right over the wound Josh dressed earlier--bursting it open wider and deeper. The smell of burning blood was rancid--the young trainer wanted to vomit. With Josh unable to give a command, his Pokémon continued the same tactic as before. (Ember)
Wreathed in flames again, Kricketune was not fairing well at all in this battle. It tried to leech some life from Ixion, but it was very clearly hurting. (hp red)
Josh thought about a capture for a split second, then shook his head. He knew what Pokémon he wanted--fast ones. This one was anything but. He pinched his nose shut and gave the go-ahead for Ixion to finish the bug-type off, the smell only getting worse as the blood-sucker spilled some of the fire-type's hot internal fluids in the process. Pinching his nose closed didn't seem to help much--the boy's face started to turn green. (Ember one last time)

Aipom bellowed a high-pitched, squeaky sound, and jumped on Ixion as it raked the Ponyta with a flurry of claws. (Fury Swipes)
