Having no plans for a Marill in his final team, Josh showed no mercy to the wild he upset. "Saber, finish up however you please!" (Whatever offensive move the Pokemon sees fit)

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Ixion whinnied when Josh nudged her away from the wild Pokemon. He didn't want to waste his time with this Cacnea, but she was looking for a warm-up before being called on to fight Josh's true quarry. The fire-type slid to a stop, letting the trainer dismount before beginning battle. "Charge!!!" (Tackle, crossposting in QBU thread)

Cacnea took the hit and rolled for a bit, but easily righted itself and appeared to increase in size. It was definitely a brighter hue of green than it was when Josh forst spotted it. (Growth)
Josh was not happy to see the Cacnea start increasing in size. Grass-types capable of it were like a ticking time bomb, just waiting to explode from all the potential energy in them. "You don't have a lot of time, Ixion! Don't relent now!" (Tackle again)

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Josh winced at the impressive blow the wild Pokémon landed, the volley of stings striking the Ponyta's soft underside. She jumped around madly and reared on instinct. Before Josh could even give a command, Ixion entered a berserk rage, bent on taking the Cacnea down with everything she had. (Tackle again.) The trainer was worried for his Pokémon, able to catch a glimpse of festering flesh as she charged by.
The Ponyta's attack rolled Cacnea again, but the cactus pokemon stood once more and started to glow faintly as wisps of light tried to snare Ixion and drain energy from it. (Absorb)
Josh kept trying to withdraw Ixion for her own safety, but she was persistent about finishing this battle. She groaned, but more due to the venom than the wild's attack. Though the reckless fire-type's legs started to buckle, she continued her relentless assault. (tackle again.)

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
The attack landed again, and Cacnea rolled around the area yet again. This time, however, it looked a little worse for it as it struggled to stand upright. The glowing started again as wisps tried to lash Ixion again. (Absorb, hp reddish)
The two Pokémon appeared to be on their last legs. Josh frantically tried to recall Ixion, but continued to fail. The Ponyta would take down her foe or take a big spill trying. She tried to trample the grass-type one more time, looking like she could fall at any time. (tackle, will faint from poison next round)

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Ixion stumbled a she charged the Cacnea one last time, but the attack landed solidly. Cacnea continued rolling, and was lost in an area that neither Ixion or Josh could follow it. (I forget if this is wilderness or city terrain )
Congratulations, you defeated a wild Cacnea! Ixion gains +5 exp!
Again, gonna take some creative liberties with this one. It's all cosmetic and won't affect the battle--I'd just like to build a bit of tension. Even though Josh has two Pokémon capable of dealing supereffective damage, I still feel this is a boss-level encounter due to the huge level difference.
As soon as he saw the Skarmory circling above, Josh reached for Saber's Ball. In the split second he took his eye off it, the tenacious wild came almost on top of him. Before he could actually release his Pokémon, he felt a tremendous gust of wind. "Omigod!" Josh cried, diving off Ixion's back, the moving air from Skarmory's wake blowing the capsule containing Saber in the opposite direction. The startled fire-type reared in fright, turning around to see tatters of her trainer's clothes in the Skarmory's talons. The "sand" beneath him felt awfully hard despite his fairly soft, rolling landing due to the emergency dismount.
By the time Josh could get back into position aboard Ixion, the Skarmory was already on his tail again. He turned his head back to see where the foe was. It sped toward him as quickly as oncoming traffic on a country road. The young rider had no choice but to dive from Ixion's back again--it was hopeless to try to outrun their foe. In desperation, he nudged the Ponyta toward Saber's Ball in an effort to be close to it after diving off once more.
The energency dismounts were tiring, not to mention painful. In his panic, Josh finally got to the stray Ball, released Saber from within, and immediately shouted, "Thunder Wave!" nearly at the top of his voice. "I've got to find some cover or this thing's gonna kill me!" he thought, his heart racing.
Dice Roller1 D100 rolled

Dice roll is to hastily survey the surroundings for any form of cover he can use in the case that Skarmory ignores Josh's Pokémon and goes for him directly. Though both Saber and Ixion are out, Josh is going to be using Ixion exclusively to remain mobile...at least until Saber inevitably drops in this fight. I hear not dying is a good thing.
Skarmory charged down the street carved through town, with what appeared to be stars beginning for form across its wingtips. The blast of electricity from Electrike narrowly missed the charging bird, as it used its extreme speed it had built up to dodge the attack.
Josh is able to spot a rocky crumble of a building to duck into and avoid the attack, leaving Ixion and Saber out in the open to face the brunt of the Skarmory's swift attack as it approaches the pair.
Saber is an Electrike, not a Magnemite. Also I'm under the assumption that with two Pokémon out, I'm still only allowed to declare one attack per round.
The resulting wake blew embers from Ixion's flaming mane, setting a pair of nearby wooden crates alight. Josh couldn't believe the speed behind the Skarmory's charge--it was incredible. Definitely fit for a racer. Ixion tried to shield Saber from the attack, but the ray of golden stars took a U-turn after nailing the fire-type, both of Josh's Pokémon caught in the moving minefield anyway.
He waited for an uproar from the fleeing, panicked residents before recalling Ixion, as to not blow his cover. "Saber, keep trying! You need to land that Thunder Wave or there's no hope of victory!"
As Skarmory started to circle around again, the blast from the thunder wave closed in on it . . . but barely grazed it as the steel bird went through an amazing display of agility to avoid the majority of the blast. Almost unnoticed was a slight swelling of its gullet as it appeared to swallow something it held in its mouth, and the residual electricity faded away to nothing. Finishing the evasive turns, Skarmory again comes swooping in. The air is moving so quickly around it a shrill, tinny shriek starts to emerge from its wings as it moves to strike the pair of pokemon and increases in intensity as Skarmory's dive picks up speed. (Air Cutter)
So this is Skarmory's famous 190 mile-an-hour dive... Josh's mouth was wide open. Even if he did manage to make a capture, how was he going to get used to THAT? With this section of town having evacuated, he was going to have to take the cover at face value this time. "Saber! Lead your Thunder Wave into his dive this time!" he shouted, the cone of air bouncing off the small Pokémon with little immediate effect. Emphasis on immediate effect.
The thunder wave washed over Skarmory, but didn't appear to slow it down at all. The steel bird finished its dive, then turned and flew off north to what appeared to be the direction of Route 4.
The moment Josh sighted Skarmory, he had Ixion slow to a halt gradually as to not attract attention. Backing away, he released Saber as quietly as possible. "If you're silent about it, maybe you can nail it with a Thunder Wave. Stealth is the key here," he instructed his Electrike, trying to keep his voice down. "Ixion, all that practice in the desert will start to pay off here," he said in the same soft voice, patting gently.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
The wave appeared to hit Skarmory this time, but no immediate effects were seen. The steel bird flew up, and the air began to shriek again as it quickly picked up speed into another air cutter.
Josh pumped his fist when the crippling wave of electricity struck the Skarmory square. When it seemed to take off without a hitch, the unthinkable happened.
The noise of the air blade rang in Josh's ear, followed by a horrible shriek from Saber. The small Pokémon leaped on instinct--right into the center of the wave of compressed air. It burst open the wound that the boy had just dressed after sterilizing it with a Potion, and cut the wound open even deeper and larger. "Saber!!" Josh screamed, worried his Pokémon wouldn't make it.
Saber himself shrugged the pain off, despite the wound swelling and turning red with blood. "If you think you're okay, then go for it. Look for an opportunity to ram into it with a Spark strike, but prioritize defense above all else!"
Josh let out a loud yelp as the ray of stars pelted him and his team. He dreaded just how much more the steel-type's talons would sting if his quarry dug those underneath his skin.
The Skarmory was wearing them down--all three of them. Josh knew he didn't have much longer to attempt a capture. There was no way he'd make a successful capture in his current state. Then, Josh did something daring. He had Ixion trot below the wild's current position. "Ixion and I are going to try luring it down here. When it comes after us, nail it with a Spark strike!"
Saber was just as adamant as Josh about making the Skarmory a new ally. The boy's heart raced. If this didn't work, they'd probably have to retreat...and even then they might not make it back to Russeton.
The Skarmory soared toward the pair, but as it was about to dive its wings and tail stiffened and was only able to continue in a straight path above them. It was still out of range of the waiting attack from Saber.(Kind of paralyzed, in that it can't attack this time.)
"Finally, some headway," Josh thought, breathing a sigh of relief. "Stay vigilant, Saber! We're starting to turn this around!" Ixion changed direction, this time trotting closer to the Electrike. "Wait until the time is right, Saber. Coordinate with us--don't be reckless!" (orders from last round stand)
