"That's it!" Josh said to himself. He then released Saber and turned toward his Pokemon. "Your quarry today is over there. It's extremely nimble, so use a Thunder Wave so you can fight on a level playing field. Also, nonlethal force. If you do everything right, you'll have a new friend to play with!"
As Saber engaged the wild fire-type in combat, Josh scanned it with his 'Dex. This Pokemon was likely going to be his training Pokemon to begin living his dream as a racer. The sooner he was able to start, the better. Time was running out, as well. Sure, the Ponyta's flaming mane illuminated the local area, but once that was out, Josh was going to have a hard time heading back to town in the dead of night.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
As Saber's waves passed over the Ponyta, the horse's legs buckled slightly. It didn't slow her down immediately, as she charged toward Saber with her head lowered and smoke starting to curl from her nostrils. (Tackle)
OOC: please edit the cards for your pokemon team into the opening post spoiler, for easier reference in battles.
The Pokemon's hooves hit Saber harder than the Taillow's beak ever did yesterday. "Keep your distance and find the right moment to strike!" (Tackle) He quickly learned just how aggressive this species was in the wild, and couldn't get his mind away from the possibility that Saber would fall in combat. No wonder Pokemon as mounts were so prized--most of them were tenacious to raise to begin with!
Edit:
I noticed Saber's 2 experience points from its first battle were never updated.
The wild Ponyta saw the bird swooping down from above, and tried to swirl it's tail flames in the way. Unfortunately, the horse's legs buckled and she lost her footing. The falmes of the Ponyta's tail whiffed harmlessly through the air. (Tail Whip, ineffective due to paralysis)
I'm only posting to keep the QBUs moving at a reasonable pace, and so they don't clog up the main thread. Contact Raptor for card updates.
Also, thanks for the edit, it really will make things easier ^^
"You got this, Saber!" Josh encouraged his Pokemon. "Don't relent now!" (Tackle) Starting to gain the upper hand, the excited trainer readied a Ball with which to make his capture.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
The wild Ponyta growled at its current predicament, and tried to meet the charging Electrike head-on. It was a slow start, but she eventually got free of the paralysis and made a final effort to try and tackle the electric pokemon.
The two collided, and Ponyta fell to the ground. She was appearing to have difficulty standing again, though her spirit was still full of fight. (hp red)
Saber dropped his guard at the fire-type breathing heavily, not seeing the wild charge coming quickly enough to hop out of the way. The speed behind the attack send Saber flying into a tree. Not sure if his Pokemon would be okay, Josh instinctively ran toward him. When he caught a glimpse of the Ponyta snarling at him, he threw a Ball toward it. His worst fear may materialize before him...

The pokeball connected with the Ponyta, trapping it inside. The ball sat on the ground, wiggling back and forth as the light winked on and off . . .
on and off . . .
and with a soft chime, the motion stopped as the light faded away. Congratulations, you caught the Ponyta! Watch for her in the next update form Raptor.
The next morning, Josh makes sure he's clear of town before releasing his new Pokemon. She definitely looks excited to be outside. The trainer, on the other hand, looks nervous. Knowing the Pokemon's temperament and what she could do, approached his new Pokemon's side slowly. Taking a deep breath, he rest both his hands on Ixion's side, ready to swing his leg over to mount his Pokemon.
Dice roll was 40 if you need the reference here. If Ixion burns his hands when he tries to mount, he will most likely use her in the battle to gain favor with her. If his ride is successful, Josh will use Saber in the next battle to get him caught up and get that move finished soon. Depends on how much the RNG hates him. Regardless of the outcome of the ride, Josh will definitely battle the trainer he finds.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Unfortunately, the heat radiating from the Ponyta is a bit more intense than what would be comfortable, and Josh's hands can't maintain contact for very long.
Barry, however, isn't going to patiently wait. He and his Starly look a little impatient, and he calls out "We going to do this? I want to battle someone!"
(OOC: Riding is something that Raptor should decide. I'm only handling some of the QBUs currently)
Josh dismounts, then swaps out Ixion for Saber. Excited to take on a more intelligent opponent, the Pokemon circles his trainer rapidly, sparks flying from underneath his paws in bursts of acceleration. "Be relentless and quick, Saber! Same tactics as always. Cripple it, then strike!" (Thunder Wave)

The wave of thunder knocks the Starly out of the sky. "No, no, no, no! Get up and hit it with a peck, or we're toast!" Barry called out to his pokemon, but it appeared that Starly was stunned from the shock and fall from the attack. (paralyzed)
Taking advantage of his foe falling prone, the excited Pokemon's leg muscles burst with electricity. Saber burst forward with incredible acceleration toward the fallen Starly, but tripped before being able to complete the attack. Josh stood there in silence, hoping his Pokemon would stumble into the Starly, both of them rolling down the hill rather than just his own ally. (possibly a failed Tackle?)

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
"Get out of the way, Starly!" The bird is able to regain its movement enough to hop up and overtop of the tumbling Electrike, but as it lands and begins to growl, its legs give out under its own weight again, still affected by the electric burst. (still uses growl, just immobile)
Saber stood up after tumbling all the way to the bottom of the hill. He grunted before flexing his short legs again, ready to strike the Starly from below (tackle). But the bird had the higher ground. Even in its weakened state, that gave it an advantage. Josh's Pokemon also seemed to be handling the battle of attrition more poorly than the Starly.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
"Dodge it and try your own!" Barry shouted. Starly made a less than graceful hop over the charging Electrike, which it then turned into a divebombing tackle attack. However, the attack looked barely controlled at this point in the battle. It was clear that both pokemon were evenly matched, despite the type advantage.
The two Pokemon seemed to stumble past each other with every attempted blow, unable to land an attack. Saber tried to blast forward again in a static-powered charge, but wound up shorting himself out. "Saber, you okay?" Josh started walking up to his companion. No response. "Saber?" Still no response. He'd wore himself out completely. "Well, I guess that's one thing we need to work on," Josh mumbled as he reluctantly recalled the Pokemon. He pulled money out of his wallet according to the wager, ready to pay the winner. "I lost my first trainer battle...how embarrassing..."
The terms of the battle were one Pokemon per side, correct? If not I'll make edits.

Yes, since Barry only has one pokemon it defaults to 1v1
Also, you jumped the gun on the battle ending, so I'm taking some . . . creative liberties with this. Hope you don't mind ^^
As Josh started to recall the Electrike to its pokeball, it appeared to shake off whatever electrical short had momentarily paralyzed it. Saber is able to stand once again, though it is as unbalanced and out-of-breath as the Starly opposing it. Barry looked at his pokemon's condition, and offered a solution to Josh. "This is real close, but you've got a type advantage over me, and both our pokemon are worn out from that battle. I'm going to concede this battle to you. Well fought."
While Barry did not have any cash on him at this time, Saber does gain 8 experience.
As Raptor hasn't updated the player cards yet, we'll have to make do ith the previous versions. I don't think anything's changed besides Saber learning Spark. Also if Marill is really mad at Josh, go ahead and have the Pokemon attack him directly if need be. I don't mind--every other Pokémon game I've been in recently let wilds attack humans.
Josh still groaned from his spill. It turns out falling and tumbling from a Pokémon moving at over 45 miles per hour can be quite painful. Ixion tried to lure the angry Marill away from Josh and to more solid ground, where she planned on overrunning the Water-type. (Tackle if the lure works or the terrain doesn't prohibit a ramming attack)
Josh did his best to reach for Ixion's Ball and Saber's as well, looking to juxtapose his two allies. Given his weakened state, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to recall his prized fire-type in time...

The Marill didn't seem to charge at Josh. He breathed a sigh of relief as he recalled his Pokemon and released Saber. Just as he let out a cry for a Spark attack, he realized the ground he lay on was saturated. But it was too late--the Electrike looked to flex his muscles, his four legs covered in a shower of electricity. The young trainer tried to stand up and get to drier ground, mud and stagnant water splashing all around him.

Still in its defensive curl, Marill peeked out enough to see where the Electrike was, then started a rolling tackle toward it, using its defensive position to its advantage.
Josh's hair stood on end from the electricity running through the wet ground, even though the intensity was mitigated from traveling through wet soil. He could have sworn he heard a loud crash from the two Pokemon colliding with each other. (Spark, see above post)
