Zoey's adventure begins in Shire Town, in Ageos' southeasternmost reaches. Professor Pear greets the young teen with a Pokédex, five Poké Balls, and of course, the Marill he requested. Pear suggested. "Ageos is recovering from a regional disaster right now, so don't expect every town, or even every Gym, to be running at full capacity. Also, if you are looking for inspiration as a Trainer, the Ageos Pokémon League starts in a few days and is being broadcast both on television and over the Internet. Good luck!"
Josh received a notification that his registration had been processed, and that he was free to wander Trinity City until the beginning of the tournament.
Billy's last leg of the journey through Victory Road was uneventful, though the climb itself left him short of breath as he entered Trinity City.
What do?
"I compete in Ageos' regional championship every year," Rocco replied. "I don't care to dress up for this occasion, but they want us this way for the opening ceremonies. You'll see me in a more typical outfit during the event itself." He paused to examine Beryl's face. "Say, I've heard you're quite the hero. Can't wait to see how you battle." He listened to Beryl's questions. "Oh, is this your first year in a regional tournament? Well, I wish you luck, then! If you've never battled in a tournament format, the half-team format can seem intimidating. Sit down, and I'll give you some advice."
Rocco gestured toward a bench just outside the Pokémon League's main facility. "Alright, Beryl--here's how it works. Pre-battle, you'll have three minutes to look at your opponent's team and figure out which of your three Pokémon is best-suited to battling your opponent's team. However, bear in mind he's trying to do the same for you. If, say, three Pokémon on your opponent's team have an obvious weakness to Fire attacks, he may expect a Water-type lead and lead with a Grass-type instead. If you lead that way, you can be behind the eight ball early on and maybe never recover. The obvious lead Pokémon is not always going to be the correct one. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.
If you want to take a risk and try to press an advantage, play the mind game with your opponent. Instead of leading based directly on your opponent's team, think about sending out your lead based on your opponent's best counter to your most likely lead. The same applies with team selection. If you do not want to take a gamble, lead with the Pokémon that's overall most resistant to your opponent's team, and select the rest of your
Pokémon based on complementing that one.
If a battle takes a turn for the worse, don't sweat it--it's not single elimination. Typically if you have a record of X-2-1 or better, you'll make the first cut. If team selection looks difficult for you, chances are it will be difficult for your opponent, as well. Team identification occurs before you as a Trainer enter the arena. If you feel a match would be too draining on you, there's a good chance your opponent feels the same way. Consider asking if your opponent will agree to a draw. You'll still have to battle your opponent--just with nothing at stake, and you'll find yourself a lot more relaxed. If you are X-2 going into the final match, remember that you can draw past the first cut. Out of all the tournaments I've been to, I've run into one opponent that didn't want to draw past the cut. He ended up losing and throwing a fit afterward."
Billy dropped his team off at the Pokemon Center immediately. While the staff there took care of their injuries, Billy made his way to the Mall and asked a clerk to look into the stock and price information for the following items for him.
Beryl thanked Rocco for the advice and wished him good luck in the tournament.
For the next few days, she concentrated on training her Pokemon, staging mock 3-on-3 battles with Suicune watching as her team got a feel for their new moves and items. Every so often, Beryl would check her email to see if any of the other Chosen needed to contact her for something.
Having taken her first few steps on the Ageosian soil, Zoey releases her new companion to introduce herself. With a quick flick of the wrist and a flash of light the little blue and white Pokemon stands before her and she kneels down in front of it.
"Hello, I'm pleased to meet you. Are you ready for an adventure?" and the little bouncing Pokemon responses "Ma Marill Marill." "Good. Let's get going then."
Zoey stands back up and looks around. There didn't seem to be much to do in the little town but you never knew what you might find around the corner. "What'd say we take a look around and get a feel for this place?" she said looking at Monroe. The little Pokemon nodded and they started wondering the town looking for anything interesting.

OOC: couple of questions.
1) Which move list are you using for Marill? I've look at all of them and I can't seem to find one the matches exactly. The closest one is the VI gen list but even it doesn't match exactly. I thought the move sets for the Pokemon were suppose to be from IV gen? Did I miss something?
2) In same vein as the previous question, should Marill be a Water/Fairy type? Fairy wasn't introduced as a type until VI gen and previous Marill in the RPG weren't dual-typed. Thoughts?
Thanks for letting me join & I'll get my QBUs thread up soonish...
After being thoroughly humbled, Geoff continued his march along Victory road. He took great care and caution, but soon found himself in a place he never expected to see...Trinity.
Billy returned to the the Pokemon Center to retrieve his team now that they were doing better. He taught Yahoola U-Turn, Fenghuang Shadow Claw and Stone Edge, and Yuki-onna Shadow Ball. He then gave Yahoola the Choice Band, Fenghuang the Scope Lens, Kurma the Big Root, Avalerion the Focus Sash, Sobek the Choice Scarf, and left Yuki-onna holding onto the Exp. Share. He then returned to Victory Road for some more training.
With the tournament looming ever closer, Beryl returned to the Pokemon League complex. She mingled among the trainers, keeping her ears open for any gossip about particularly strong competition and to see if anyone wished to challenge her to battle. She was glad she'd left her Dragoon equipment in the hotel where she was staying; it was nerve-wracking enough being in such a strange, bustling city without being bombarded with questions about being a hero.
ooc: You may notice something very special about Beryl's update post. A natural roll of 100 does not guarantee this outcome, so don't get excited if you get one while looking for Pokémon.
Monroe looked confident after her victory over Leigh with only a few scrapes. The excited Marill looked like it wanted more.
What do?
Beryl didn't find too much going on in the complex itself other than trainers editing their team registrations before the deadline, which she found was not the same as the trainer registration deadline. She did, however, find something mindblowing on the very edge of the island--a very rare specimen seemed to have escaped from Victory Road.
After taking care of his errands, Billy ran back into Victory Road looking for trouble. And trouble he found:
Presenting registration papers to League staff, Geoff was informed that he would be added to the list of participants as soon as his Trainer information was processed, that he would receive an e-mail confirmation when the process was complete, and that he could change his team registration electronically until three days before the event.
What do?
The Ageos Pokémon League has received word that the new bans passed by a joint meeting of the International Pokémon Leagues Commission and Regional Champions worldwide will be in effect for the tournament.
The following Pokémon are banned:
- Aegislash
The following moves are banned:
- Swagger
All Trainers will be given a three-day extension to make any adjustments necessary to their Team Registration sheets, regardless of whether the ban affected a Trainer's existing submission.
Beryl stared at the Rapidash, mystified. "That doesn't look like any Pokemon I've ever seen..." She quickly scanned it with her Pokedex to confirm that it was, indeed, a Rapidash. "Do you suppose it'd mind if we just raced alongside it for awhile?" she asked Suicune. Remaining at a distance, the pair tried to track the mysterious Pokemon for the remainder of the day.
When they returned to the Pokemon League HQ, Beryl sold the remainder of her non-League items: 5 Great Balls, 1 Max Repel, and 1 Revive. She inquired into the price of TM16 Light Screen and TM72 Avalanche, seeing fit to take advantage of the extended deadline to improve her team's capabilities.
Seeing the two Arbok, Billy sent out Yahoola. "I know that the deadline has been extended by a few days, but we still need to make all of our battles quick. Hit them hard with an Earthquake Yahoola."
After apologizing to the other trainer for hurting her Pokemon. Zoey and Monroe head west to Route 1 (East). Once there they look around for anything interesting.
Geoff smiled and went to the Pokemon Center to get some shopping done. He checked his Poke Device and thumbed through some junk e-mails before reading one from the Pokemon League, informing him of a large grant. With a slight smile, he headed to the TMs.
Josh sent his comrades an e-mail message about some kind of show to be performed during the opening ceremonies of the League, stressing that they all needed to brainstorm, preferably in person.
---
Since all PCs are registered now, I'll do the countdown to the start of the event now. Probably not doing a full player card update until the start of the League.
Pokémon League opening ceremony: 9 days
Suicune and Beryl chased the blue-flamed Rapidash, the Chosen able to feel the sting of the wind at times when riding without her gear. Able to get right next to it, Beryl got to witness a Rapidash at full speed, its hooves barely touching the ground.
Late that afternoon, Beryl did some shopping around and found the following prices for the requested items:
TM16 Light Screen - 2,000
TM72 Avalanche - 3,000
She also found that the Crystal Lance she carried served as a compatible catalyst for Mega Stones.
Zoey and Monroe cheerfully headed west to the wilds outside Shire Town, a defiant-looking Shroomish popping onto the road from out of nowhere.
Geoff did some price research, finding every TM was listed at 3000, the Big Root and Shell Bell were listed at 6400, and the Leftovers at 9600.
Happy to have come in under budget, Beryl purchased both TMs and taught them to Tundra. She re-filed her registration, with Tundra's new move Avalanche replacing Blizzard and Light Screen replacing Scary Face.
Beryl then headed back to Victory Road for more training to help Tundra get used to his new moves.
Having dealt with the Arboks, Billy emailed Josh back, "Okay, I've got some quick leveling to do for the tournament, but I'll make sure to stop by. At least one part of the show that they want to see from us is obvious. The ones that chose us to help defend Ageos against the Serpents. If we can get them to participate, we likely won't disappoint." Billy went back to training and searching Victory Road for tough opponents.
A bit crunched on time right now. I'll get a text update out and see what I can do about cards tomorrow. Probably just going to do one giant PP update before the tournament.
Opening ceremony: 8 days
Geoff found all items on his list cost 3000, with the exception of a Spell Tag at 3200.
Beryl edited her sheet before leaving for Victory Road again. She went all the way back to the mountain path to find a Salamence snarling at her:
ooc: Edit your current QBU with this encounter. You got a bit ahead of yourself.
Billy headed back to Victory Road. He wandered the caves for a while and eventually found the tough opponent he was looking for.

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Geoff paid for the items, and set about to teaching his Pokemon some new techniques. He then went to the outskirts to look for Pokemon to fight.

After defeating the Aggron, Billy left Victory Road and made his way over to the large complex where other Trainers that were going to be competing in the Tournament were also doing last minute training and practice with their Pokemon. He did the same and had Kurma, Avalerion, and Yuki-onna all compete against each while restricting the use of their more effective attacks. After that bit of in house training was complete, Billy looked around the complex for someone that would be up for a Battle before the Tournament.
OOC: Training Kurma, Avalerion, and Yuki-onna. Then searching for a Trainer Battle.
"Let's go, Tundra!" Beryl said, sending out her Mamoswine. "Stand your ground and watch what it does!"
To QBU
After the battle, Beryl walked up to inspect her Pokemon. Tundra was badly burned and scratched, but seemed as content as ever, munching on a bag of slop that Beryl recognized as the Leftovers she had recently purchased from the Dept. Store. "Looks like that shopping spree came in handy after all," she said, patting Tundra on the head. "Come back and have a good rest."
Tundra looked at Beryl forlornly before reluctantly tucking the Leftovers away and returning to his Poke Ball.
Leaving the cave, Beryl returned to the outskirts of the city where she had initially seen the Rapidash and looked for Pokemon again.
OOC: Here's hoping for something not too rough for this last bit of Billy's path through Victory Road.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
OOC: Off to QBU.
