Hey All, I am planning on running the Pre-Made Adventure for the Dragonlance D&D Campaign World known as Dragons of Autumn. This adventure comes with the following Pre-Made Characters:
I am also allowing Custom Characters with the following restrictions:
Mountain Dwarves, Full-Blooded Elves (of any nation), and Gnomes need a relatively decent explanation as to why they are out adventuring and not back at home. Meanwhile, Minotaurs, Full Blooded Ogres, and Sea-Elves while not impossible, are almost completely unheard of and will need an exceptionally good explanation as to why they are out adventuring. The races Tarmak and Draconian are completely off-limits at this point in time.
Non-Evil Clerics, Paladins, Druids, and Rangers will not have any access to divine powers and spells at the start of the adventure. And the Cleric I mentioned as being a requirement in the adventure MUST be one of the Good or Neutral Clerics and cannot be an evil one.
Finally, because the event known as the Summer of Chaos is decades away as far as the game world is concerned, the Class known as the Mystic is unplayable, and only Fey Creatures, Draconic Creatures, and other inherently magical races can take the Sorcerer Class. Additionally the Bard Class while it is allowable to take, will be unable to access any spells for the same reason that the Mystic and Sorcerer are more or less unaccessible.
Additionally no Custom Items (by this I mean no items that cannot be created using the standard Item Creation Rules as found in the Dungeon Masters Guide and Magic Item Compendium), No Flaws, No Traits, no Custom Classes or Races, Level Adjustmented Races are allowed so long as their Level Adjustment doesn't exceed the maximum level of the Adventure (as set by the number of participants) minus Two.
On to further Business, I will be using Standard Currency Allotment for the Classes. However we will be using Krynnish Currency instead of the Standard Gold Currency. This means money will be set as Steel. For the most part you just need to assume that in the place of the word Gold Pieces, the word should be Steel Pieces. Standard Gold Allotment for the levels we start at.
Aside from restrictions on Class, Race, Currency and power level of characters, the only real requirements that I have for this adventure is that at least one player in the adventure must be a Cleric, and that no one can be of the Evil Morale Alignments (at least in the beginning).
Books you will probably need access to for this adventure:
The Standard D&D 3.5 Core Books.
The Dragonlance Campaign Setting Source Book.
People who have expressed an interest in playing so far:
Lady Valkyrie — Goldmoon
Cabal_Chan — Riverwind
Set Abominae — Re-Imagined Tanis
Halinn — Psion (custom Wizard of High Sorcery) Saving a spot for Amadi should he choose to join us
Just posting here because I indicated interest in the general interest thread but I don't enjoy playing pre-made characters, especially one who is expected to act in a certain manner. I wish you good luck with your campaign, however.
Set Abominae just to let you know, I did specify that you can create your own character so long as it is not significantly more powerful than the characters provided with the campaign.
Additionally, I do not expect the characters to act in a specified manner or even necessarily follow the adventure's pre-scripted outline 100%. Just know that significant deviation from the script will have consequences for better or worse, whatever they may be.
That said I would greatly enjoy having you participate in the adventure in whatever capacity you feel like participating in (you don't HAVE to play the cleric you know (who is the only one with any significant responsibilities as far as the storyline is concerned)).

Alright, that sounds reasonable enough. I'll give some thought to what type of character I would like to play. A significant problem I have with the pre-gen characters is that I'm already playing a wizard in another campaign and I don't want to play a rogue or fighter and that's all that's left besides Goldmoon. Regardless, I am interested in the campaign.

well feel free to be inventive
like I said I am open to custom characters. There are a few restrictions on Custom Characters, due to the time period in which the adventure is set within the world of Krynn. But other than that I don't think you should have any problem coming up with a character.
I'm not good at filling the shoes of a pre-made (which in my mind is the entire point of playing one). I'll be going custom.
I'll take the cleric if no one else does. Flavor wise, how does that work? Am I praying to a false god, or am I just a pre-cleric (i.e. a cleric that isn't following a deity?)
Alignment...not sure. I'll have to look at the D&D player book when I get home to determine that.
I'll see which books I have when I get home. I definitely got the Player's Handbook. I might be able to borrow the Dragonlance Campaign Setting one from a friend if needed.
For the most part Clerics in the Dragonlance setting at the start of this adventure are worshiping false deities or other false ideals. These false deities do not grant spells, or divine powers of any sort.
I suppose I should give a little background at this juncture for those not familiar with the story:
Five years ago, a band of good friends frequented the Inn of the Last Home, the most popular tavern and inn in the treetop city of Solace. They made a pact to go off on their own in search of some sign of the true gods, agreeing to meet back at the Inn of the Last Home on that day five years later. Each taking a different path, they set out for the far corners of Ansalon. Now the heroes, known as the Innfellows, return to their hometown after finding only futility—the true gods seem to be well and truly gone. However, at the very least, they can look forward to a warm fire, a good meal, and the companionship of their dearest friends upon their return. Unfortunately, they find that Solace has changed in their absence.
And I, since words are not that can reveal
Half the heart-shaking wonder that I feel,
Give you no answer, asking love of me,
But eyes unveiled, lips that move silently.
All youth, all love, all life were made for this,
The wordless moment of the spirit's kiss. -Since Words Are Not, Carolyn Crosby Wilson
okay you are more than welcome to have Goldmoon. Cabal_Chan says he is willing to play someone else. I will PM you the stats on the Blue Crystal Staff in a little bit

I would like to remind everyone, that while the pre-made characters do kind of have a mythos built up around them. That this is OUR adventure, and that those people who choose to play one of the pre-made characters are more than welcome to portray the character however they see fit for the duration of the adventure or campaign. It does not matter what type of character they were in the novels, so long as you enjoy portraying them the way you envision them being portrayed.
Entries to this Campaign are now closed
Amadi, should you choose to join, a spot is saved for you.
All further posts should be done in the Character Creation thread
Oh, that's good, because one reticence I had with playing Goldmoon was that it'd been such a long time since I'd read the Dragonlance novels that I couldn't remember exactly what her character was like! ^^
