The Moff glares at Shift again, "If I had the resources, I'd have you court martialled here and now. So either silently thank the stars your alive or I'll put a pistol to your head myself."
He pauses, "Now the first thing I need you to do is reclaim a small fort to the south of us. The Chubbits attacked it and I'm certain its been overrun by the vermin. Now get out of my sight." The door the group entered through opens again. Moff Beruce picks up his datapad and immediately looks too busy to bother with anyone.

Shift gives a proper Imperial Salute, knowing he had almost pushed the Moff too far, and spins on his heels marching out of the room. After exiting the room his comlink chirps
"What do we have on these Chubbits? 106? Gerrin? Try and get that information while we head out. Can any of you pilot, or will I have to get us there?"
Vren salutes the Moff and departs the room. Once his voice will no longer carry into the Moff's audience chamber, he replies to Shift, "No one of us outranks the other, and his excellency didn't give us a chain of command. Neither did our preliminary briefing aboard the Momentous. So, until you have demonstrated command ability and tactical and strategic understanding, refrain from giving orders as though you're any higher-ranked than the rest of us."
Vren heads off to find the Intelligence wing of the imperial outpost.

Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.
At the time, I had no answer, but it just came to me.
Do we put the word "the" in front of God?

Shift's comlink chirps again, an agitated tone in his voice.
"Fine, you wanna take a stab at it, Gobot? Someone's gotta lead, it's the natural order of things. I'm a doer, not a talker.
I'm requesting, not ordering. Unless you got yourself another plan, and we can talk about it all democratically and stuff, probably not getting anything done"
"You don't have to like me, and I don't have to like you, but I do respect my fellow troopers. So again, pretty please with sugar on top, get us some kriffin intel so we can move out."
OOC: BTW this goes out to the entire team, so you all can hear it as well
Don't. Antagonizing him isn't worth it. Just make sure he's in the primary position to take the brunt of the attacks. And maybe 'forget' to treat his wounds immediately. Vren doesn't respond to Shift in any way.

"I am a pretty good Pilot but do we have any vehicles? I think he expects us to find our own way there, even if that means having to walk."
Gerrin pulls out his Datapad and connects to the network in the area and looks for info on were the area they are looking for is. If it is beyond walking range he looks for a vehicle depot.
Vren asks around and searches the database for any relevant information.

Gerrin and Vren find a map of the surrounding area when they log in to a terminal, and when they ask around the group is directed to a small hanger bay filled with landspeeders. There are a few mechanics around, but the troopers were informed they needed to requisition any vehicles with the officer stationed there, an old lieutenant named Merce.

Skill checks aren't typically auto-fails on a result of 1 or auto-successes on a result of 20. After all, in D&D, if your bonus makes it so that you will meet the DC automatically, you don't have to roll your check (like if you're going to tumble around a foe, that's DC 15, so if you have a +14 modifier, you don't have to roll.:teach:

ooc: not sure if you could take 10, because there is a penalty for failure, I believe. but as Ti'rin pointed out, even rolling 1 doesn't make it auto-fail, so it might just be that you weren't able to log in, but no isolated the intrusion to you or something /shrug I'm bout ready to try and jack a bike if we don't get something large enough for all of us. And now that I think about it, it's probably more likely a forgery check as well. /shrug
OOC: Don't forget guys, as stormtroopers you do have quite a bit of respect, if not for your rank than for your proficiency. You can attempt to use that to your advantage instead of illegal manipulation if you choose.
Gerrin cannot figure out the computer system enough to hack assign the group a vehicle.
Luckily, Lieutenant Merce checks his personal computer and responds, "Yes, the outpost you're headed too is about 50 kilometers away. Would you like a sandspeeder for the group or five speeder bikes?" He chuckles gruffly, "Of course you want the separate speeders, you stormtroopers always take the ride with some firepower. They're Aratech 74-Z's, best bike in the Empire."
Merce leads the group over to the speeders, five out of seven of their kind. "Now before you ask (just like every other new arrival), gound-based vehicles are the only thing we've got a surplus of around here. Imperial City only sent us a skeleton supply of them too, but no one really wants to patrol in them. Didn't give us anything that kept the pilot comfortable the harsh environment see? No one here's got your fancy armor. So, they mostly just sit here. Good new is, they're all in prime shape. Now then, pick a bike and I'll give you their start up codes."

Merce walks up to everyone in the group, and makes sure they're ready to ride. Then he steps back and flashes them all a thumbs-up. He walks away and the wall in front of the stormtroopers slides open revealing the Iron Tower's desolate surroundings once again.
