Ignotus pockets the Zippo and fluid, and unsheath's his dagger with lightning speed, and quickly rushes towards Petrine.
"Are you okay? C'mon try and stay low, no need to be seen by...whatever the hell those things are."
Ignotus helped Petrine duck down a bit, without blocking their sight, pondering furiously to himself. "I really don't like this, at all. Rich women and Fat Slumlords are easy to deal with. Mutated... daemons are not." He thought while chewing his lip, "Something has got to give, and I have a feeling that going towards the tower is a smart idea."
All: The group is right now on the tower's first platform, that is also where bespoke bistro is situated. Just for future reference, in case this is being overlooked. You climbed up to the first of three (consecutively higher and smaller) platforms, inspected it and scrounged the bistro built on bespoke platform. Whilst this is going on, Petrine takes a look around and sees what is described above. The explosion and the roaring machine can easily be heard by even the people inside, but Petrine has the view. Anyone stepping towards the edge with her can see these things, too. The beasts (and the rider) are about 300m / 350yds / 1000ft out and closing in. Which is still like about 60m / 70yds / 200ft above the ground.
(OOC: Since I've been out for so long, I'm going to just pick up right here at this fight and read what I've missed later. Let's just assume I tagged along with everyone else for the last four days.)
*Seth walked over to Petrine and looked out into the distance*
That cannot be good.
*Seth started scratching the car left by the bone lance from earlier*
"No this is not good at all, but we should probably get cover or prepare to fight."
Ignotus wished it was night time or that he had other means to be stealthy, a head on fight is something he tried to avoid, while he was strong, he didn't like being known or seen.
"This might not be the best time for it, but I found a working Zippo lighter and fluid for it, so at least we'll be warm tonight..."
He gazed out from the tower, seeing that woman being chased by those abominations.
"That is, if we live through tonight..."
An idea, that was crazy and ill conceived popped into his head.
"We should go and help her, I have a feeling it may be worth our while."
Sorry about that Chris, its difficult to keep everything in order when you're used to having Mini's or a map in front of you.
And I'm really hoping my Ability activates soon, I have a feeling I'm gonna need it.
*Seth gave a thumbs up to Ignotus and motioned for him to not flcik the lighter on*
I agree we need to fight, however I don't know how we're going to manage since we have no control over our powers, or if we ever will. But that's never stopped me before. Right now I don't think they see us so we may have an element of surprise. Anyone who wants to try and fight the things up close come with me. Anyone who thinks that this is stupid or insane, stay high and out of sight. And that last part goes for anyone who can't fight as well.
*Seth patted Petrine on the shoulder and smiled*
That means you dear. We can't have you getting hurt.
*Seth put his back against a pillar larger then him and pressed himself up against it as much as he could without causing it to creak or break* He held his breath and listened to the world around him*
Daemons? Petrine's head was reeling. Fight or flight?
However dangerous the men beside her, the savage creatures chasing the blonde woman on the motorcycle were no doubt worse. She would have to trust in her companions to win. But if not...
She reached the rickety stair leading to the upper floors. Perhaps it was only delaying the inevitable...but perhaps not. Either way, she was doing no good just sitting around here.
Alexandre had been sifting through the cutlery, noticing satisfactorily that one of the implements was an old cooking knife. He preferred to fight with two knives, but had lost one in a fight with an urchin a week back... Still, winning that fight had been worth it. And now he had a second knife. He smiled slightly at the sudden memory and began poring over the map when he heard the explosive noises.
Alexandre looked up, quickly stuffing the map and menu (Who knows when it might become useful?) into his jacket pocket, and grabbed a charcoal stick as well. If he was going to have to leave quickly he wanted something to write and mark his way with. He walked up to where Petrine was standing, looked out at the vehicle and the monsters, and uttered the eloquent phrase, "Merde." He quickly pulled out his second, better knife, and matched that with the cooking knife he had found earlier. As the others went off to hide, he crouched behind some of debris that was stacked against a pillar. He looked out through a small crack in the pile, noting the speed with which the creatures approached and checking for any weak spots.
Guess why he grabbed the charcoal stick...

I opened one last year, got two crap worldwake packs and 8x scathe zombies, which I promptly hid around my sister's apartment for her roommates to find. But, yeah, it was a piece of crap.
You, sir, have just won the internet. Congratulations.
The beasts stayed, albeit reduced to three, in hot pursuit of the fire-breathing bike, which now switched it's zig-zag course to speed straight for the tower. The rider stood up on the pedals, pointing something at the tourist platform that looked like a hand cannon, and pulled the trigger. With another explosion, a hook was propelled from the barrel, cutting through the air. The tip shattered through the metal sheets that covered the railings at the edge and the hook bit into the material. The bike powered underneath the tower, the beasts still behind it.
With a loud metal clang and the screeching complaints of the taxed material, the attached cable stiffened. The tires lost ground contact and the engine roared one last time, as all the built up energy was dissipated all of a sudden. Protesting screams of the fleshy monsters followed, accompanied by claws screeching over concrete. Whoever watched could even see sparks, as the dark claws left marks on the ground. Furthermore, the bike swinging forward was also visible, whilst a reel pulled it towards the platform.
Another shot rang out, and another zipline flew upwards, this time seperating driver from bike. Whilst the blonde woman was pulled towards the superstructure exceeding from the platform, the bike was on it's way back, like a pendulum. Covered in tattoos and with hair that hadn't been maintained for a long time, this road warrior looked both out of place and adventurous at the same time. Dust and soot in her face, the traces of oil on her hands and arms told the story of someone that doesn't have the time for prolonged personal hygiene.
Thrown off for a moment, the beasts screamed in anger, looking upwards, where their prey was escaping to. But a split second later, the brain wave hit home, and the three remaining pursuers made haste towards the steel legs of the massive tower. Again, claws on concrete, digging into the material like it was sand ...
*Seth almost let out a cry of excitement when the girl used the gun to get away. Better judgment told him shutting up and keeping hidden was a better tactic, but damn if she didn't know how to handle herself. He rubbed his scar again and felt a twinge of pain in his bones. When everything hit the fan, he had an idea to try, and if it worked, life was going to get real interesting real fast*
OOC: Chris, where is the way up to the next level? Regardless, unless someone has a response, Petrine is going to be scaling the tower for the duration of this little fight scene.
The woman yelled roughly in the direction of those that she could see, as she was swinging on the cable onto the platform. Sliding over the rubble and getting back on her feet, she let go of the harpoon pistol and unsheated what seemed to be a short, stubby metal bar from her belt. With an outward swing, the bar extended and formed a bludgeoning weapon with a bit more reach than before. "Go for the necks, and the eyes! ... and the skull is thin in the back!" She sprinted towards the closest person she could see - Petrine, climbing up the stairs to the second platform.
Meanwhile, two of the beasts jumped the skeleton of steel upwards, gaining more and more height. The third one spotted Petrine - and climbed it's way up on that leg of the tower. Now closer, the group could hear more than just the screeching of metal as the beasts crawled up, cutting and scratching the metal. The sounds of large lungs pumping air into their systems, growls and grunts come with them, towards Platform #1. And below them, dangling on the wire, the motorcycle coughed up a bit more smoke and then, the engine died...
OOC: (on acquired abilities)
From the point onwards where I posted that a certain character has acquired a certain ability, that character is free to incorporate that into his actions as the player deems befitting, a roleplayingly sound activation being understood.
OOC: (Way upstairs)
There is a staircases in one of the legs of the tower. For argument's sake, the bottom left one. An OTIS elevator was added later, hence those are not available in the game's timeline.
Ignotus Stood up quickly and got into a horse style stance, with his blade in his right hand, and his left hand to defend, waiting for them to advance. He was going to for the eyes, a quick and lithe strike, and hopefully this daemon os sorts would go down.
"And... here... we...go...."
Its obvious that their claws disintegrate metals and such, hopefully it doesn't do it to flesh, but as our new NPC has a long extendable staff, I'd say we're SOL on that one
And I'm really hoping I can blend in soon, I'd really prefer to not have my character crippled because my main back stabbing ability isn't activated.
*As one of the beasts scaled the other side of the pillar Seth was pressed against he grabbed a jagged metal piece tightly hoping it would sustain his weight. With his good hand he swung off the side and made a punch towards the creature's head. With a jolt of pain the bone lance shot out of his arm and pierced the creature through its skull. Seth let go of the jagged metal and fell a few feet before grabbing the platform ledge and flipping back up. It was odd, but after the initial immersion, the pain almost felt good. But the more important question was did he kill the creature ore merely wound it?*
Ignotus:
As he emerged from his cowered stance, one of the three beasts forgot it's initial prey, turned around and sprinted towards him. The claws didn't so much disintegrate metal, they just cut into it, telling of the sharp pointy tips of their natural weapons. Apparently, sharp enough to cut stone, and the beasts was furthermore heavy enough to pierce whatever it clawed into. It stopped, after about 20 feet, staring at the thief and roared again. That was, when ...
Seth:
... the other beast was about to lunge on the platform, and Seth jumped to meet it halfway. Through luck and skill combined, the moment of both made the beast's head go straight for his bonelance. Digging deep into the flesh in it's jaw, Seth was met with a gaze that shifted from anger to sudden realization - and then, nothing. The beast dropped, sliding over the platform, shivering one last time.
Siri:
As one of the beasts collapsed, the beast that was going for Ignotus yelped, turned around and retreated, only to be hit by Siri's axe. The dull blade smashed into the muscles, more than it cut, and the monster stumbled away from him. The third still was after Petrine and the biker woman, not taking it's black eyes of the game in front of it, until it heard the other scream. Startled for a moment, it froze, only to turn around aswell, fleeing down the way it came up, followed by the second that was now bleedingly profusely from it's shoulder.
Jumping of the tower, both survivors of the initial four beasts disappeared into the ruins surrounding the tower ...
OOC: (Weaver)
Every character has stengths and weaknesses. Right now, stealth may be a lesser important feat, furthermore, your Darkvision is already available. Instead of seeking cover and having the urge and/or fear to be hidden, you made the decisions to be "in the open" and combat ready - there is no incentive, story-wise, to make camouflage active. If that bothers you, my apologies.
OOC: (on combat actions)
If possible, I would prefer combat actions towards enemies to be in "X tries to do Y to Z" fashion. Powershots kind of derail my options of building suspense. (-1 RTU for Seth in this case, to pay for the killshot. ;))
I was waiting to see what you said, but I suppose in my rushed post I left out a few things that could've made it more a more 'I might not have it hit feel'. Knowing what the specifics are now help though. I'll take my kill at the cost of an RTU, no arguments here, and now to fill in that fact with a little posting.
*Seth watched the creature fall and could only hear his heart pounding in his chest. It was luck, sheer luck. If the lance hadn't shot forth he woulda been a dead man, he still wasn't even sure how he did it. The the fact he even hit through the blur of pain and tears was astounding. He was sure it would never be that easy again. With what little self pride he took from the kill he turned his gaze towards the others and noticed the beasts running. He dropped to his knees as the lance once again disintegrated.*
Despite Petrine's head start, the biker woman easily caught up to her as they pounded up the stairs. Petrine didn't stop until she reached the top. She turned to see two of the... "Gap Beasts," the woman had called them... retreating, their cries fading away into the distance.
"What were those things, and why were they after you?" she asked the woman.
She leaned against a wall, breathing heavily, taking in the sight of the second level's interior.
Ignotus Got out of his stance and stood straight, still guarded just in case, and was puzzled at this random woman who had just shown up, being chased by what seemed like harbinger's of some dark dream.
"Well that was interesting, scary even. Excuse my bluntness, but who the hell are you?"
Petrine was held up before she reached the second platform, though. "... gap beasts?" The biker gave her a quizzed look and turned around, to meet the rest of the group. On the way back down from the second platform, the woman talked to Petrine, briefly. "Hungry, I don't know. They hunt humans as soon as they see them. Everyone knows that. Maybe instinct, ask Doktor Mengele." She was still catching her breath, as they arrived back on Platform #1. Met with similar questions, the woman answered.
"What do you mean, what are those things? Gap beasts, the reason we abandoned Paris in '27, the mutants that were sent in from Germany after they couldn't douse the flame of the resistance. Some sort of weird experiment, thought-up by some German Doktor with a broken brain, if you ask me. Live in the sewers, hunt humans? You must've heard about them, surely! My name is Simonne, for that matter. And ... who would you people of fancy clothes be? Haven't seen such things in a while."
She retracted the staff and stuffed it into the sheath. Her fingers traced her belt, looking for something, but after a short moment, she gave up. "I could really go for a cigarette right now." She explained.
Positions: Everyone is on Platform #1. (Seth, Alexandré, Ignotus, Siri, Petrine, Damian and Simonne)
OOC: (on confusing positions of actors)
I'll end each post from now on with the positions of acting persons, so we don't get scenarios where people talk to people that are three rooms back or five stories up. I hope this helps mitigate the lack of a map further. Additionally, I will try and provide maps where I can.
Alexandre had been waiting behind the pile of rubble for the one that had been charging in his direction. After waiting longer than he thought he should have, he popped up in a knife fighter's stance to see the two remaining Gap Beasts clamber off of the tower and into the rubble fields. Seeing that the immediate danger was over, he placed his knives into his coat and hastily walked over to where the others were beginning to gather.
(French)"Well, that was... interesting. Do we know what they were exactly, of should we assume that they were mindless, dangerous creatures? *Pause* Oh I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Alexandre DesLorraines, and I do hope you all speak French." He looked up at Seth"Where you the one that helped me before? I only have a vague memory of that, but you seem to match it. If so, I owe you my thanks."

"In case you couldn't tell, we're not exactly from around here," Petrine said, briefly recounting the events of the World's Fair and their arrival beyond the rift.
