If I may make a suggestion: if you specialize in an element, you'll have trouble against elementals of the related element which are far more frequent in Aventyr than a typical setting. One flavourful solution would be to use the Wizard 5 ACF that trades the bonus feat for the granted ability of a cleric domain, and select the fire domain for the ability to rebuke and control fire elementals (and turn/destroy water elementals) who would otherwise be resistant to your spells. /one idea
Does anyone know which book has the weapon enchantment that allows the wielder to apply Weapon Finesse to that weapon? I know I've read it somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me.
I want a longsword I can apply Weapon Finesse to, but I can't remember where I saw that enchantment. Or maybe it was a feat?
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p

Feycraft weapons from DMG2 can do that IIRC. I don't remember if there was an enchantment for that. I remember there being an obscure elf-specific(?) feat that did that as well. I'll check...

[General, Fighter]

Base Attack Bonus +1
Weapon Finesse
Weapon Focus with the chosen One-Handed Slashing weapon
When fighting with the chosen weapon in your primary hand and no weapon or shield in your off-hand,
receive the following benefits:
a) treat the chosen weapon as ‘Light’ (i.e., Weapon Finesse applies to it);
b) receive a +1 Shield bonus to AC; and
c) if Fighting Defensively or using Total Defense, receive a +2 Shield bonus to AC.
I will work on my character tomorrow, as it is pretty close to time to hit the sack. At this point I am going to go for a cross-classed Barbarian/Ranger named Svenir. Going to go with the fun illiterate nature of the Barbarian, but some of the more earthy nature-like qualities of the ranger, and make his history that he was some sort of scout for a Barbarian tribe. Thinking I might give him that special feat or finesse skill where he can use bastard swords one-handed and have him dual wield them.
One last detail I ought mention before crashing... I play a Drow, as such being racist against elves and dwarves is natural... I hope that doesnt interfere with anyone's builds.
Lots of species don't like Drow, so it should be fun to see how our characters interact as well. My character is more of a wild man (going with straight human for a change for myself), so he's probably interacted with war parties from the Drow, and being narrow-minded as he is he will probably have an instant hatred for your character lol.
Hm... Alright, would you be opposed to a custom-created enchantment that does what I described?
Something like this:
Balanced
A balanced weapon is lighter and easier to handle than an ordinary weapon of its type. As such, a Balanced weapon counts as a light weapon when being wielded by a person with the Weapon Finesse feat. The Balanced ability can only be applied to one-handed slashing or piercing weapons.

lol, I read that and I realize you guys are way out of my league in Dungeon's and Dragon's. Gonna keep my character as simple and basic as possible, haha.
hehe, that is great... I am glad someone else understands how the rp works
Never know though, after a few times a Drow saves his life by illuminating an enemy hiding in the shadows, they could grow to be great friends
In the meantime, there is no denial that Drow can be evil SoBs... I have no idea whether or not he has seen a friend hanging outside a cave with one arm tied up and a foot cut off, too just be left there and bleed to death as a warning.
Story and character development have always been pretty key to me in the RP process, and usually where I start when I come up with any character. Plus, it helps that I've read up on drow and how they interact and fit into the world around them.
So I am working on the story details of my character, and I want to start moving into his gear as well as his stats and such. Are people just using real dice to roll ability scores, or...?
I'm personally going to use the 32 point buy. It makes for less swingy characters.
Question for Talore: Is it Mamelon point-buy, or standard? And if standard, do ability scores start at 8 or 10? I've seen both used; wasn't sure which you prefer.

So if I understand that right the point buy system means it starts at either 8 or 10, and then we add onto them with the 32 points?
@scott the information about point buying ability scores is on page 169 of the dungeon masters guide if you have it.
I do, and thanks! I will check that. It has been a really long time since I played, lol (actually it was right around the time that 3.5 came out that I stopped, so... yeah.)
EDIT: What I have so far; http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=504024 Not a lot entered in yet beyond the basics and an image for her. I want to choose a god of war as her deity, but you said something about how the normal gods don't have influence, so I left it blank for the moment. I will add more as I can (at work, and I have class afterwards, so there is some minor delay.) It says Sveah as her name, but I vacillated between that and Sverah, went with Sverah in the end, heh.

If I'm letting people roll 4d6b3, then the point buy is 32 standard, starting at 8.

You can usea 4d6b3 roll six times for your stats, or use the standard 32 point buy. There is a very useful calculator for the latter if you don't remember the formulas.
Scott, I'll write up a god of war right now in this post if you want.

I'd appreciate it. I mean, it doesn't have to necessarily give her anything special or do anything for her so much as serve as a plot piece for the character.
EDIT: Added my ability scores. I almost think I should have just rolled the dice, lol. Spreading the points around, she's really strong, but dumb as a sack of rocks. This should be amusingly fun.
EDIT EDIT: What are we doing for starting equipment?
Sotapaalko
Intermediate Spirit Deity
Symbol: Two crossed scimatars of fire
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Worshipers: Warrior societies, mercenaries, bandit clans
Cleric Alignments: N, CN, CG, CE
Domains: Celerity, Chaos, Destruction, Fire, Travel, War
Favored Weapon: Scimitar
For starting equipment, you get 13000gp worth of items and equipment. No more than half into one item. I recommend for people to get at least a little bit of utility, durability, and emergency supplies (like a healing potion). Blowing it all on a weapon and armour isn't always the smartest thing, especially when you can't rely on huge cities for services and supplies.

I am getting pretty excited about this. I've had my 3.5 books on the shelf for ages, and every now and again I will look over at them with some sense of longing, lol, but lacking anyone to play with and a wife that thinks it is silly, I haven't had a real outlet for that in a long time. Just gotta get the nitty-gritty figured out (read; the numbers stuff.) Scimitar as the gods symbol almost makes me want her to carry a pair of them, but she's no Drizzt, think I will stick with the initial idea of two bastard swords... Just can't forget the exotic weapon part.
I'm fairly excited as well. I'm really looking forward to playing this character. He's fairly different than any other character I've had before. I usually go straight-up combat specialists. A battle-hating skill monkey is something I haven't done much.
I think I may have gone overboard on the whole "be prepared" thing, though. Sort of went on a shopping spree.

It is funny to imagine some guy lugging around 1200+ pounds of stuff lol.
Heh. I can't be bothered to do the math and keep track of item prices over the entire character creation process. As you might have guessed, it's convenient to put item prices in place of weight when buying items since Myth-Weavers automatically tracks the combined weight of your inventory.

Okay, update on my character because I don't want to be the one holding us back from starting lol; I am basically finished with most everything (or will be relatively soon), however I am in the office today and myth-weavers is blocked (I work from home most of the time.) so I can't enter in anything new today (I brought the players handbook with me, worked as much as I could out on actual paper, will transfer most likely tomorrow.) I'm hoping to have everything, her equipment, bio, stats, feats, ect done tomorrow and ready to go.
I want a longsword I can apply Weapon Finesse to, but I can't remember where I saw that enchantment. Or maybe it was a feat?

I still have to buy a bunch of random items.
I've got a backstory thought up as well. Just got to type it out.
