I was looking to have a Rods of Absorption in my hands at all times, permeant ghost form, and a way of casting Mordenkainen's Disjunction a bunch of times.
Also I NEED the rings of Fire and Sonic Immunity so I can be immune to everything.
Also the Retributive Amulet & Starmantle Cloak are very busted.
ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? (or questions)

I ran a 40th level advancer, but limited the players to only items in books. I think its even more "over the top" if you allow the players to make their own gear... AND with no cost restrictions. He did say our caster level could only max out at 20, AND we could only take an epic feat once... SO that was a good idea.
Honestly now, you might want to take a look at Lost Empires of Faerun, even if you're not going Forgotten Realms, they had some pretty nifty netherese and otherwise ancient and überpowerful stuff in there. Boomsticks being able to cast CL20 maximized Lightning Bolts and such. I thought it rather nice.
I am not sure how much a lighting bolt will cut the mustered at 40th level. I like to stick with the 'sphere' spells, since they get around SR. I mean if you look at the epic book things have SR's of like 40, base, and you KNOW the DM will be making custom monsters. If I was going to take anything from the Fanun book it would be the Ring of Nine Lives(which I was thinking about)
Apart from that, It does seem you are quite set. Remember, you could, with that amount of money, buy some stuff that is not of relevance to your character while he is out, but which serves as background. Because some 40th-level Mage of Major Buttkicking isn't going to be homeless, I'd suggest multiple strongholds, maybe something on the Astral Plane or the Ethereal Plane.
Its not as much money as you would think at that level. (because of my guys background it would not make sense for me to have anything frivolous that does not serve to further the greater good)
Its probaly going to be a Dungon crawl, so a Stronghold would not be useful.
When I ran it, I had the plane they were fighting in sealed off from other planes, I would think that would be standard procedure in a 40th level dungeon crawl.
Since the DM has justification to do almost ANYTHING to you at that level you have to be ready for ANYTHING. Getting cut off from dimensional travel should just be a small hiccup for you. That's why I want to be able to cast Mordenkainen's Disjunction a lot, since its the only way of stopping an Anti magic field. Also I want the rods of absorption so I can cast hundreds of extra spell levels out of them (incase we have no time to rest... which is also a good bet will happen).
Ring of Nine Lives is definitely a good idea and, given your current level, also quite a reasonable item to possess. Hmm...40thlvl Dungeon Crawl. I am sorry to inform you, that I am right now drawing something of a total blank. Of course, you could always go for Artifacts, but toting your Sphere of Annihilation around probably isn't too useful against your 40th-level menace and, furthermore, doesn't truly represent you as a champion of Good. "Look guys, I'm the valiant knight here, it's just coincidence that I have a pet-sphere of matter-disintegrating nothingness with me that I just might lose control of".
Artifacts are right out. Honestly, they are not that powerful anyway if you look at some of the epic items(or even regular items)
I personally think that Rods of Absorption, Retributive Amulet & Starmantle Cloak (+evasion) are just about as busted as it gets for EFFECTS. Everything else is just +X to something.
