I'm using the Tome of Battle: Book of Nine Swords to make a samurai flavored character. She dual wields weapons, but I was also wanting to take some of the throw manuvers offered by the Setting Sun school as well.
My main weapon is a Katana, but I was wondering, is there a light, offhand weapon that she could use to innitiate a touch attack for triping (as per setting sun manuvers)? Otherwise, I'll have to sheath my second weapon before doing a throw, and that's a little unwieldy.
I would prefer something with a Japanese flavor as well, if possible.
Well, you could just use a throwing dagger and say it's a kunai for one thing. That always worked for me. Although if you do want something more intrinsically flavorful, try looking up the Oriental Adventures book. There are stats for chakrams and blowgun darts, things like that, in there that might work for you.
Can you use a Setting sun manuver to throw someone with that set up? Like a Katana in one hand and a Kunani in the other? I would ideally like to use Katana and Wakazashi (short sword), but I can't imagine throwing someone with both of those weapons equiped.
Edit: If I switched to spike chain, it would completly solve this problem, as it can be used as a duel weapon, but it can also be used in a trip manuver. It also closely resembles some of the more obscure weapons of japans martial history, and can easily fit her flavor.
And thanks Ether. You turned me onto the Oriental Adventures book, which shocked me, because it's based off of the world of Legend of the Five Rings. This is where my character is originally from so it's great.

Hope that helps =)

Yes, you can use a spiked chain for those purposes. It can be dual-wielded, it can be Finessed, and it can be used to trip.
...
I'm sad now.
