Now, character creation details: (I believe this is all you need.)
Character level: 3
Abilities: Mamelon Point Buy
Starting Credits: Maximum amount for your class at level 1.
Bonus: You all get free stormtrooper armor (Found in core rulebook).
You all get Armor Proficiency (light, medium, heavy, and powered) for free.
After joining the Empire, you have managed to pass through the rigorous training and testing required to become a part the elite Imperial forces, the stormtrooper. After serving about a year on a Star Destroyer patrolling some backwater system, you've finally gotten new coordinates and been shipped out to work under sector Moff Beruce on planet Aridus.
A question to ask yourself when writing the character: What is their opinion of the Empire, both when they joined up and at present. Does your character believe the propaganda or are they a discontented farmer forced into the army because of tough economic times on their home planet? Or does he or she even believe the Empire is a necessary evil to keep all those nasty aliens in check?
I know you didn't ask me, but I'd prefer some flexibility in character choice.
If we're all going to be force sensitive, that's fine, but allow for the possibility of darkside characters.
Also, not everyone enjoys playing jedi-style characters (I know that I don't, I leave that to others), so if we're going to all have to be force sensitive, consider granting that feat to those of us not playing force using classes (soldier, noble, scoundrel, etc.) for free. I know that I wouldn't want to waste a feat slot on something I'm not planning on taking anyway.
I mean, it's one thing to have a feat slot taken up by prerequisites for feats that I'm going to take later, but if I'm not going to play a force-sensitive character (and I have no plans for my character to ever be force-sensitive), then why should I take what amounts to a useless feat?
I'll be fine with whichever rules system gets chosen, though.
I have both rule sets.

Someone once asked me why, when I talk about House Dimir, I don't put the word "the" in front of it.
At the time, I had no answer, but it just came to me.
Do we put the word "the" in front of God?

Actually, the questions are now directed at everyone.
And I can understand the draw to being an average person in a galaxy with the force. The story idea I found most appealing was renegade stormtroopers, but it would be asking a lot for people to play star wars without anyone using the force - it IS the most popular thing of the saga afterall.
Alright, I'll take that Force Sensitive feat point into account if that's the road we go down.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
I'm interested, but I don't have any of the RP books. If/when you decide on one, I'll run up my friend who is one of those uber-Sci-Fi nerds. He's tried to get a star wars RPG running before, so he should have any book I need to play.
Although speaking of non-force guys reminds me the story of the guy who went through a psudo-movie plot-line game. Was a really good read; involved a bounty hunter making jango fett's armor his white whale and killing bobba fett with a spade after getting involved romantically (and being very confused) with a twi'lek trap he had been best friends with for 6 years.
brb, rereading the story. @_@

It's understandable that there's less material supporting Saga, it's a newer release.
That's like saying that there's less material supporting 4e vs. 3.5e D&D. One's newer than the other.
I actually was reading through my RCR core rulebook again last night and I decided I'd be okay with other options than just the soldier.
I was looking at noble, soldier or scoundrel for RCR.
For Saga, though, I'm still sticking with noble (can turn a non-beatstick like a scoundrel into a -1 beatstick and can turn a beatstick like a Jedi or a soldier into a +2 beatstick--really nice class).
However, none of those are force-sensitive, so if we're going to be Force Sensitive, I still don't want to "waste" a feat that I wouldn't normally take on my character.

I've decided there's 0% chance of being required to have an all force sensitive party, unless everyone's a jedi. I won't force nonjedi to take the feat or give them a fake copy or anything. I just can't think of any story reason why it would be necessary.

I've played in games where the GM decided that everyone 'had' to be Force Sensitive, so I was just making my position plain.

I'm open to anything, really. Personally, I'd lean towards sith (were I using force powers), but I also like playing a regular shock troop and such. When you do X thing as a powerful character, it can be meh; but the same thing done with a slightly above average joe, it becomes a lot more awesome. (Case in point: Adept in a DH game rightous furying 9 times in a row to kill a khorn bloodletter. The equivilent of a librarian killing Guts from Berserk with one attack.)

I would just prefer that we don't have a theme.

Again? I would like to try to play but I'm a touch spotty for access this month. I also don't have any books, as KK knows. My first thought if we went with the stormtrooper plot would be some kind of tech support lady that goes along with the squad, or possibly a Bothan spy that contacts them to assist the defection.
Let see, I have the most mentally plotted out for the stormtroopers and sith stories, which is to say, not much in each but an overall idea of where I want the story to go.
Since it seems a mixed party is prevailing, I could put a point into the stormtrooper story where the characters would meet someone who could recognize their force sensitivity and train them, how does that sound?
GM: I'm not going to be building anyone's characters for them this time around, as it is what hurt if not destroyed my last game I tried to start.

Ti'rin: Sorry, I didn't type out what I meant clearly enough.
What I meant was that eventually the stormtroopers could meet a character that would recognize those of them that are force sensitive and train those ones to use the force.
GM: Thanks, and sorry about that.

So, what would we qualify as if we didn't take levels in soldier?
Say . . . scoundrel. What would a scoundrel be doing in a stormtrooper regiment?

A scoundrel would just be a stormtrooper that mixes his abilities between blasters and conventional fighting and something like computer hacking. He could even be the talkative soldier who becomes the face of the group.
Stormtroopers aren't just what you see in the movies, guys standing there and shooting at the good guys. Soldiers shouldn't be all brawn and no brain, and the empire knew this so they recruited the best thinking soldiers they could as well.
The only nonforce-wielding class I think would be tough to work in would be the noble.

As someone who muds on a Star Wars RPG every night, this is something I would definitely be down for, and can bring a nice array of character types to the campaign if needed. The only issue would be the rule books, since I haven't played d20 SW in quite a few years.
Rule books are a bit of an issue.
Kinda need 'em for an actual system use.
