Now, with coming of 4E i'm curious of what houserules will you people be using in your homes. There are some that i can think of:
Return to the old alignment system.
I feel like it's better, and the new one is oversimplified. If we go to the point of removing four of the nine alignments, i feel like we should just go to alignment-less system. Allowing Sneak Attack with any weapon. Seriously, multiclassing into rogue is pretty much useless for a lot of characters, because Sneak Attack feature doesn't really work with anything but light blades, slings or such. For example fighters don't really get anything from it. I will most probably allow any weapon to sneak attack, and probably also some spells. Rogue Multiclass = Stealth or Thievery. As it is, multiclassing into rogue awards you with Thievery as the skill. However, i feel like that's stupid because not all rogues (Let alone characters multiclassing into rogue.) are willing to learn to lockpick. Also, i'm adding the phrase "If you already are trained in Religion, choose another skill from cleric skill list." and "If you already are trained in Arcana, choose another skill from wizard skill list." to Wizard/Cleric multiclasses. (Paladin that took Religion at level 1 shouldn't feel gimped just because he wants to multiclass to cleric, should he?) Freedom of Implements. Yes, i feel like it's stupid that warlock can't channel his powers through a staff when wizard can. I also feel like the same for orbs and the opposite for rods. I will most probably allow pretty free using of implements, to allow more efficient multiclassing, and i don't really see any reason why a warlock couldn't use staff for his implement.

Since my RL group occasionally does a massive war, which span over several game sessions, we're looking into a way to renew encounter powers in a short time (5 rounds of rest, for example). This would only apply to wars of an epic scope. I don't think that the creators of fourth edition had crazy people like us in mind when they set up the five minute rest period.
I feel like it's probably all right to renew encounter powers between things that are semantically different encounters. The five-minute rule was probably intended to make it infeasible to renew encounter powers during what's semantically one encounter. If your wars run in a way such that enemy reinforcements arrive as monsters fall, perhaps encounter powers could be refreshed after certain "boss" monsters are killed. (At the same time, beneficial effects that last only until the end of the encounter should probably fade then, too.) Similarly, daily powers are meant to carry characters through only so many encounters, maybe four or so. If the characters are fighting what amounts to dozens of encounters in a day, you could even let them refresh their daily powers after a major objective. (Or not, to add grittiness.)
