The arena is a giant pit in the center of a massive cavern. Stadium style seating extends from the lip of the pit, and the area is constantly filled to the brim with people watching the spectacle of brutal combat. The pit itself is an open area with several man placed boulders of varying sizes to use for cover. Heulen found himself entering the arena through a gate that stood directly across from an open gate on the other side. Through the gate stepped a massive warg. The beast had patches of hair missing in several spots over its body showing proof of battles won. The monster stood about five feet at the shoulder and it strode towards the dwarf with a slow confident gait.
Heulen began performing some Bear Drills. He stretched and twisted his body until he faced away from the beast. He seemed to be mocking the danger that the warg posed him.
(BP: 163)
Hearing the huff, Heulen placed Okar's Mask on his face and activated its Primal Form. Boar-Heulen charged toward the last place he had seen the warg.
(BP: 164)
Boar-Heulen continued charging toward the warg in an attempt to gore it. As far as Boar-Heulen was concerned, it didn't matter how big, mean, smart, or strong the warg was, he himself was bigger, meaner, smarter, and stronger.
(BP: 165)
Heulen was almost right, but he wasn't quite as big as the massive warg, and their strength would soon be tested. The warg darted to the boar's right, away from the boulder.
While the tall and agile warg dodged to the right of him, the heavy and sure-footed Boar-Heulen turned to the right and continued to charge at the warg.
(BP: 166)
Heulen may be the stronger, but he couldn't turn fast enough to line up with the warg. The beast leaped at his hind quarter, its jaws biting into the tough hide.
Boar-Heulen turned quickly, mostly due to the pain in his leg, and violently in an attempt to dislodge his enemy. He cast both Weaken and Sicken on the warg.
(BP: 167)
The warg held on despite the weakening, but it dropped to the ground and rolled, flipping boar Heulen to his side, but putting the warg's face in range of his tusks.
One must sometimes make sacrifices in battle to come out on top, some are worse than others. A now vomit sprayed Boar-Heulen rushed forward aiming to gore the warg's face and crush the beast against against a boulder.
(BP: 169)
The warg dodged to the side, but Heulen still caught it in the hip, jerking it to a stop. Heulen heard a yelp of pain, and then felt pain himself as the warg spun and clamped down in the same spot as before, doing more serious damage this time.
Boar-Heulen stopped moving forward to prevent injuring his leg further. He cast Numb and Weaken on the warg hoping that their combination alongside the warg's hip injury would make it lose its footing while he shifted his head in an attempt at disemboweling the beast.
(BP: 170)
The warg's foot did slip, but even as the tusks gouged deeper into the beast's guts, so did the unrelenting jaws tear into his muscle, beginning to separate it from the bones and joints.
Heulen stopped using the powers of Okar's Mask and switched to using the powers of the Primal Boots to give his leg a stronger structure to keep it intact and the Primal Shoulders to give the warg's skull a mighty punch with one of his hand claws.
(BP: 171)
Heulen's muscles stayed on the bone, but something about the way his leg was transforming combined with the pressure of the warg's bite, caused a snapping sound and the warrior knew his femur had fractured. The punch slammed into the warg's head, causing the beast's body to jerk about wildly. He was sure it was a killing blow and yet the jaws refused to release his injured leg.
Heulen figured that he had made the right call even with the badly broken leg. He maintained both equipments' powers and attempted to pry apart the wargs jaws with both of his hand claws.
(BP: 172)
After a few moments of struggle, the jaws released their grip, and a few moments later the warg ceased to convulse. Heulen heard the gates screech open. And Varen the healer stood on the other side of them.
Heulen - Any chance I don't have to drag myself over there? I've gone and lost a few of the bits of my leg I need to walk without risk of losing the rest of it. Figured I'd fight on even grounds with that warg, but I hadn't taken into consideration that it might be that flexible.
Heulen - That makes sense. I'd also guess that I wouldn't be allowed to rest here for a couple of hours either, since that'd put me in the way of Ringmaster running his business. Guess I'll just bear with the pain then. I'm not even sure if you'd have the right spells to get me patched up, although I've heard that you're the one to go to for small miracles. I'll drag myself out of here then, but first I've got a question, what do you think Ringmaster would charge me if I were to make a meal of this warg?
