Kherren was surprised by how close the gorilla was, a hand that was large in comparison to his own closed painfully over his wrist, catching the hurried swing. He found himself looking into the furious eyes of his enemy.
Kherren didn't hesitate when he found himself eye to eye with the creature. He slammed his head downwards, aiming to deliver a headbutt with all the power and accuracy he had been taught by the warriors.
Kherren went with the throw, naturally rolling when he got to the other end. He twisted his arm at the end of the throw, trying to put the remaining momentum into wrenching Brutus' arm.
Satisfied that he had done something without knowing what, Kherren released the gorilla's arm and pushed himself into a crouching position. Dig in his heels the garr waited for the gorilla's next move.
Kherren chose that moment to slam his fist into the ground in front of him, causing an explosive burst of stone raise up and surround his arm. The extra armouring around that limb would either help deflect the club or it wouldn't.
Kherren began the push forward towards Brutus, bringing his covered fist forward to smash the rock out of the air. His other, sword bearing, hand flicked up to launch dirt in the gorilla's face.
The scimitar hacked into the wrist almost completely severing it. Brutus'momentum didn't stop, he wrapped the garr around the chest with his other arm as he smashed into him.
Having no time to plant himself in response to the arm, Kherren was rather effectively clotheslined by the move. Had he been a little less hard-headed the resulting rattle would have knock him for six, instead he tucked both legs in and launched them up at Brutus as best he could, rolling if necessary.
The kick slammed into the ape's stomach, but the brute's rage wouldn't be quenched. Kherren felt a hand close around his neck and blood sprayed in his face as Brutus attempted to choke him with both hands, apparently not registering that he had lost one.
Kherren continued to kick upwards, slamming one foot after another into the beast's gut and chest. As he did so he tried to bring his sword up to slice at Brutus' good arm, just enough to get it bleeding.
The kicks began to pulverize the gorilla's stomach, but the grip only tightened. Kherren was having a hard time breathing at this point. The sword left a shallow cut on Brutus's bicep.
Kherren switched tactics, dropping the blade to one side and instead grasping Brutus disfigured arm. The garr pulled the bleeding limb in closer to his neck as he took in what little breath he could through gritted teeth. After a few moments of blood pooling, the garr planted his feet and pushed, twisting towards the wounded arm, hoping the extra blood would slick his neck enough that the maneuver would free him from the massive ape's grip.
Kherren continued with his movement, trying to get himself clear of the brutes weight and push himself to standing. If he was lucky, Brutus' injuries would prevent him from doing the same.
Kherren made no move to stop the brute from getting between his legs, confident he could endure a little pain in that region. What he did instead was dropped his weight back and twisted, pulling his legs in tight in an attempt to lock them round the ape's neck.
