Baron- That should spice it up a bit. Thorn, go get the old man.
Thorn- Who made you the boss of-
Baron- Your tab.
The lithe looking elf grumbled and headed out to the back of the Tavern. A few moments later a man who looked to Binxy to be about 300, walking with a cane and a limp came out and headed towards the bar.
Laelaps walks into the tavern, he had found a trail of light blood on the ground and knew whose it was right away. He ended up following the jakari all the way here.
Laelaps - Hey Binxy, what are you doing with your knife?
Ancient- Leave the payment with Baron, we'll go downstairs to enhanced your blade.
The old man didn't wait for Binxy, evidently trusting him to catch up. He walked round the side of the bar and pulled opened a trapdoor, descending the stairs below into a lamplit room lined with sand.
Ancient- The augmentation is one of our secrets, kept between brother and sister and not share outside of our organisation. It binds the weapon to you, allowing it to draw on your strength, for this it requires your blood.
The old man gathered a few odd looking ingredients, a mixture of powders and slimes that Binxy couldn't place for the life of him.
**Binxy kept himself from grumbling, though he did have his usual frown. He never knew what to do when things got mystical; his first impulse was usually to make loud noises to scare away the ghosts. Nevertheless the jakari played along, balling his fist to let the blood drip onto the blade's choil.**
A brilliant blood red crystal formed along the blade's choil, looking at a glance as if the blade had only just been washed free of blood. The blade itself gleamed slightly to Binxy's eye. It would now cut through any toughened skin as if it were half as strong, allowing him greater efficiency against anything so protected. This ability also meant that hides skinned with the blade would retain the majority of the animal's essence, granting the resulting hide a thematically appropriate enhancement.
Survival's Tool - A large Corin's alloy survival knife, serrated along its back and honed to a fine edge along its front. The choil of the weapon is encrusted with a blood red crystal that makes it look as if it always has a little blood caught in it.
Danger, Danger - The crystal glows faintly when hostility is directed at Binxy.
Hunt the Beast - Cuts through any naturally tough skin or scale as though it were half that strength.
Skin the Beast - Hides skinned using the blade retain the animal's essence, granting the hide a thematically appropriate trait or enhancement.
Cost of Business - While in Binky's possession, the blade reduces his spells per post by one.
**Binxy gave the blade an experimental spin, testing the weigh and balance. Satisfied that nothing was amiss, he let one of the wargs fall out of his void bag and gave the new knife a go.**
The old man shrugged as he gathered up the ingredients.
Wargs are fast, vicious, tenacious predators. While they hunt they are close to unstoppable. Binxy's warg hide is strong as leather while stationary, becoming tough as stone when pulled taught by movement.
**The jakari pulled on his survival dagger, putting it down on the counter.**
Baron- Still carrying that little thing around?
Thorn- Some of us don't need giant hammers to get the job done, Baron!
A voice yelled from across the bar.
Binxy - "Need a Heart Augmentation for it, point of fact."
Thorn- Who made you the boss of-
Baron- Your tab.

Laelaps - Hey Binxy, what are you doing with your knife?
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Binxy - "Sort of in the middle of a thing kid. D'you need something?"
The boy realized that with the machete being his only natural weapon, he might end up in a situation where a few more may save him.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
With the two men's advice, the boy left the tavern with the Hearth of Steel in his thoughts for later.

Ancient- Your blood will form a crystal, guide it where you would like.
He then set about arranging the ingredients in a specific pattern, chanting something unintelligible as he did so.
