So it took me an hour to attune and understand it and now everyone else just gets to touch it and do so?
After Ger'Cath's answer, Paravrax decides he may not get the more direct answer he was hoping for, and also doesn't want to traumatize it by interrogating it too harshly. Unaware of what else may be going on (ooc: due to my poor perception roll), but getting antsy, Paravrax takes a couple steps towards the chapel, then stops and wheels around.
"I recognisssssse the need for safety, so if there's any preparation we need to take before investigating further, that's fine, but are we just going to stand around and admire the kitten, or ssssshould we be on or way?"
"After we hide the wagons and horses. There is barn containing the missing wagons and horses over there. If we clear this ruin I suggest that take those back to that town we just passed through."

Emeryn has entered room 1. This would have been the public space of the temple. The room is massive--the ceiling is nearly 40 feet in the air. There is a wooden door to the east, and a corridor leading to the south. There are six ornately carved columns. Each appears to be a representation of the six Old Gods: Arawan, Meriele, Lander, Roywyn, Finian, and Osrik (west to east). The columns have been desecrated--the eyes have been chiseled away, and what appears to be blood is smeared where the eyes would have been. Other than the desecration, the room seems completely unused. There are cobwebs and dust everywhere, along with centuries of leaves and debris that have blown in through the open windows.
Reed follows Emeryn through the doors, turning to shrug at the rest of the group. "We might as well be at it. Our carts were simply bait for a trap we defanged. If anyone gets past us from inside, or people are waiting for us out here when we emerge, we'll have bigger problems than stolen horses. Stow them in the barn with the rest and let's go. With any luck, they won't notice the extra carts."
Reed stops just inside the door and looks around carefully.
Glad to be on the way, Paravrax nods at Emeryn and walks into the temple. As he enters the doorway, he tries to discern any meaning out of the desecration.
The walls of the public temple space were one adorned with beautiful frescos and mosaics, though the art has not stood the test of time. Examining the mosaic on the east wall, Reed's all-seeing eye detects a strange pattern in the tiles, which conceals a hidden door. Judging by the cobwebs, the door hasn't been opened in centuries.
You think the desecration may be connected to the gods' inability to see this area, but you aren't sure. It's odd that the vandals seem to only have damaged the eyes.

"Paravrax, Emeryn, we should wait for the others. The last thing we need is for these doors to swing shut behind us. But we should also start with that door hidden to the side there. It doesn't look like even the cultists have used it."

Couple of quick questions before we go to much futher in.
Is Korvat the only one who can't see in the dark? If so do we have someway of gaining that ability?
What scale are you using on the map Kaburi? Is it the usual 1 square = 5 feet?
And are there pitons in the Expolorers kit?
On seeing the others move into the Temple I quickly move to stow the wagons and horses with the rest of them and rig up a pen to keep the axebeak in whilst we are exploring the dungeon.
I then call Starfall to heel and enter the Temple.

Dragonborn don't have darkvision. Also, the explorer's kit doesn't have pitons - only the dungeoneer's and burglar's packs do.
Concerned that he doesn't have good vision in the dark and not wanting to get caught off-guard later, Paravrax casts Light on the tip of his quarterstaff, then nods to Reed.
Seeing the rest of his group enter, Reed moves over to the hidden door in the wall and opens it. The light from Paravrax's staff stretches down the now empty space and Reed peers down the curving hallway.

I can't see in the dark either, and I don't have any spells right now to help with that.
Also, Kaburi, unless you say otherwise, I'm going to assume doors we come across are unlocked in the dungeon.
"Luan and I can see in the dark without light. If we lead off and the rest of you follow at a reasonable distance we might be able to surprise some of the denzins of this place."

"My consssern is that we will either not be far enough back for it to matter or be too far back enough to be able to help if you find yourssselves in a tight spot. I would prefer to sssstay as one group."
"Oh don't worry, I think you can trust the pair of us to run or hide if we run into something really nasty. In the meantime shall we see about getting that door Reed found open."
I then go over to the area Reed pointed out do a thorough search of the area.
Are you going to allow anything like the taking a 10 or 20 in 3.5?

No, lots of people can't see in the dark. Several areas are actually already lit by torches. When you enter a room I'll let you know what the light status is.
Yes, 1 square = 5 feet.
I'm 86% sure there are pitons in the explorer kit.And I'm apparently wrong.
Oh, and no taking a 10. If it's perception, you can just use your passive perception (10+all bonuses that would otherwise apply to a perception roll, generally 10+WIS Mod, though if you're proficient you add proficiency bonus as well).
It's not a trap. ...everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
Also, Kaburi, unless you say otherwise, I'm going to assume doors we come across are unlocked in the dungeon.
That's...actually not a valid assumption. The better assumption is assume all doors are locked unless otherwise specified. I was going to play the "you try to move to room X but the door is locked" game. The good news is most of the doors are easily breakable wood...
It's probably better to just announce these things up front. The wooden door to the west is locked. The secret door to the east is not locked, just camouflaged by the mosaic.
The hallway has been abandoned for centuries. Dust covers the floor, and it clearly hasn't seen the light of day in many years. The walls are covered in the same intricate mosaics and frescoes as the previous room, only much better preserved. The mosaics depict Arawan in his role as god of death, escorting souls to the afterlife, creating a race of devas to serve, forging the locks of the Infernal Prison and the gates of the Celestial Paradise. Looking back, you realize the statue in the hall only depicted her in her role as god of life. This appears to be a separate shrine to Arawan as God of Death.
Korvat gazes into the chamber, and turns back with a grim expression. He points to the mosaic that was covering the secret door. "Hides door." He then points to the mosaics on the walls. "Traps?"

Around the bend in the hallway there's a large chamber. At the center of the back wall is a massive statue of Arawan in his Death Aspect--a slightly masculine yet androgenous figure of indeterminate race, wearing a long hooded cloak. At the base of the statue are a few small chests and piles of coins, the purses long since rotted away: offering to the god of death.
"This room hasn't been used in ages. I doubt the Broken Chain has it rigged with traps of any kind." Lucial stepped forward into the room and looks around.
Well I guess that removes the need to roll Perception.
"Halfling - ask the cat why this room was hidden away."

"I also doubt that the Broken chain built this place. We don't know what nasty surprises the original builders might have left behind. I'd also get my eyes tested if I were you. There are no halfings here."

There are no traps in the mosaics. I'm sure everyone's passive perception is enough to determine that.
Korvat shoots a glance around the room and realizes that it probably isn't trapped. He breathes a heavy sigh and steps in, still looking around furtively.
"Never too careful..."
