I think I'm 19 or 20 AC when I use a shield, and have additional damage reduction plus the resistance to ranged provided by the shield. Meta-wise, I'd say I am the best choice.
It looks like you get Resistance against ranged attack (they're damage is cut in half), but every ranged attack within 10 feet of you gets redirected to you. I can't find anything about the AC like Cythare said.
Kaburi, does that sound about right? Sounds like an awesome weapon for our Paladin.
Does that include friendly fire?
If so it sounds ******* awful....

Yeah, let's give it to Emeryn. For reference, I pulled it from this thing. It's probably an old/homegrown/other version of D&D. It was the top hit when I googled "d&d shield of missile attraction".

Make sure to add '5e' when you're searching. Based on it being published by TSR, this looks like it's from 2nd edition.

I actually did include the 5e, but forgot to do so here. It's still the top hit for me because he talks about what he'd be glad to see in 5e.
Sorry if I've been lax in my participation lately. Just assume Korvat is following along silently until combat comes around again and I'll jump back in.

I think Jay was planning to do that until he realized that the scratching might be coming from the axebeak and wanted Kahedron to try to call out to it.
I think there's been a misunderstanding here. It wasn't so much that we're debating anything, it's that we have two front-line people who we were waiting for to open the potentially dangerous door. Sending our non-front-line people to do it is a great way to get us low AC or low HP people killed. Reed has almost already died in this in-game day, he'd rather not do it again
I went ahead and just did it. Let's see how this goes.
So if there's nothing else we want to do, could we skip to the end of the short rest?
Yeah - when you said it was only five minutes I'd said we'd wait for you before anything else happens. I had thought you wanted to take an 8-hour rest when you first mentioned it.
Asking Kahedron to call the Axebeak wasn't meant to impede on that, because I thought it was already done.
You will slaughter them--everyone has magic things now, and they're resistant to *non-magical* damage. You should easily one- or two-shot them. If you had gone in there without exploring the rest of the dungeon and finding the magical treasures? DEEEEEEP HURTING
Presuming my arrows are one shots I'm not planning on wasting them on a bunch of Gricks. Likewise my few spell slots.
I've got no objections to slaughtering them on the way out but we do have a couple more important places to check and if don't have to kill them now we might as well leave them.

I'm a bit weary with regards to this dungeon. I'd like to move the story along soon, if possible. Once we're done searching Gricktown, let's skidaddle, eh?

Once we complete the story portion, I'd be cool with moving forward. We've already gotten a significant amount of loot out of this place, so as long as we can explore that last secret passage I'm happy.
I mean, there IS that whole unexplored section, but if people are tired of dungeoneering we can move on with the plot.
It says a lot about Kaburi's worldbuilding and story that we're excited to get out of a dungeon
I rolled the layout of this dungeon using the random tables in the DMG, and thanks to my terrible rolling it wound up like three times the size I expected. I didn't realize how big it was until I started actually drawing the map, but I made a promise to myself to abide by the dice no matter how much they hurt you me.
It really shouldn't be too much more--this combat with the cultists will likely be the final conflict (unless you decide to take a rest between fighting the mook-level cultists and the Big Bad and his fanatics, splitting it into two battles).
Everything else is optional, and you've found all the good loot. (The rest is just gold and gems. You'll be very disappointed with the grick rooms; I think the grick alpha you didn't see yet has a sack with like 140 silver or something stupid, and that's it. They've trashed the rest. There's one cool room in the caves that I'll tell you about if you decide not to go there.)
Well, you'll probably want to free the prisoners since that's ostensibly why you're here.
Does that include friendly fire?

Once we deal with the cult accordingly, let's circle back around to the Gricks, shall we?
