RPG OST - Patriot's Revellie South Boston Municipal High School, Boston, MA Tuesday, October 9, 2012; 7:57 Eastern Daylight Time
Today looked like it was shaping up into another one of those days. You're alone, sitting in the atrium waiting for somethign to happen, as usual. And nothing ever does; as usual. You've got your water bottle with you (have you tasted the muni water? might as well be raw sewage.) and frankly there's not much else to do until class starts, unless you wanna tease some of the jocks...

Thoughts ran through Shirin's head. She had all her homework with her right? So she checked her bag, and a slim smile came when she noticed that everything was right were it was supposed to be. Now that she was on it, she fetched a notebook from her bag that was always all the way in the back of the row of books so she didn't have to look for it every time. After getting her favorite mechanical pencil too and closing the bag, she sat down to start writing where she left her story. For that was what this notebook was full off: the tales she had written this year.
She waited for the bell like this, her eyes focused on the paper in front of her, the words she wrote. Her ears focused half on the music that was like every day playing and half waiting to hear the bell ring.
A quick check showed that, yes, all her homework was done. Frankly most of it was done before end of day yesterday; since she had that good a grasp on the material. One of the few places where the old "no child left behind" law was useful; while the teacher was spending 3 or 4 days what Shirin picked up in one (and the rest of the class should have gotten in 2 at the most) it left her time for her mind to wander, and more stories to collect in her head.
And then, something happened.
It was a ticklish sensation almost, like someone was poking the girl in the stomach playfully. Obviously no one was, but the feeling kept getting more and more potent, almost as if someone was constantly poking her in the gut. It wasnt' at all painful but enough of a distraction to see what the hell was prompting such.

Shirin tried to finish a gracious 'j', but the sensation become to distracting. So she blamed herself for ruining it, but unlike the usual occasion, she didn't correct her mistake this time. Instead she balanced the notebook on her lap so it wouldn't fall off and used her free hand to feel her stomach. Then she also looked, to see if there was any visual clue to what was going on.
A quick belly rub ensures her that there's nothing on her skin that is causing the irritation. (the last thing she wanted to do right now is give people a reason to stare at her) But then she takes a look up.
There's another girl walking down the hallway leading into the atrium. Seems to be your age (although you can't remember seeing her before, ever.) and at first glance she seems normal enough; wearing a navy blue polo shirt with a conservative tan skirt and matching flats, the only jewelry you can see is a necklace with a blue pendant hanging from it.
It's at this point that you realize that suddenly everyone is trending towards her, as if she's some celebrity or something like that. All the guys are flocking to her like she's some kind of goddess, all the other girls seem to be really friendly to her, and despite all that she barely seems interested, save getting a few phone numbers from what you can tell.
Absentmindedly you note that she also seems very naturally attactive, although while you're perfectly fine with ignoring it, this girl is more that willing to use her god-given beauty to her own ends. And you also absentmindedly note that the more you study her, the more distracting the phantasmal poking gets.

All of a sudden, Shirin thinks only of one thing; getting away from here. Hastily she stows away her notebook and pencil. Then she walks around the crowd gathering with an arch as wide as possible, to the nearest corridor away from the girl. If there is one thing she can't stand, it's too many people near her, and the distracting sensation wasn't helping her mood either.
The poking was more than enough to get you out of there, this was too weird. As you try to get around you see that the girl in the muiddle seems to feel the same way, she's doing what little she can to break the crowds around her (maybe she's claustropohbic or something?)
Out of chance the two of you lock eyes. Maybe for no more than a split second. Hers seem to widen as she breaks contact, you're too busy with the ghostly pointer finger poking you until it's so bad you feel like keeping over in a mix of pain and ticklish sensitivity, then it abruptly stops.
As you open your eyes, you see the strange girl running off in the direction you intended to go; apparently she saw or heard something that freaked her the hell out. Hope it wasn't you...
regardless, judging by your watch you should start getting to class. First up is chemistry.

Automatically Shirin started walk, though not as fast as was normal for her, but still quicker than the groups of chatting students that were so common in schools.
It was odd, now she found herself not frightened by the girl. Rather, she was getting more curious by the moment. Her quick wit made her realize that it was the eyes that had drawn her interest. The way the girl acted, it seemed so... similar to how she would normally respond to such situations.
Then she realized how unfocused she was, and quickly turned her process of thought around to focus on the upcoming class. She found herself already nearer the classroom and knew that it was going to be a boring time.
Chemistry was one of the few classes she felt some hatred against, at least, it came as very dull to her. Her marks for chemistry weren't that bad though, luckily.
Chemistry was indeed boring, save the lab work every once in a while. The teacher did not help either, that man was a dinosaur. honestly, how many elements were there when this guy earned his diploma, 12?
Regardless, you take your seat and just as you're about to start writing again, the hair on the back of your neck stands up on end. A quick glance reveals why.
the same girl is in your chemistry class.
At this point you're positive you haven't seen her before, so maybe she's a transfer from somewhere. out of the corner of your eye, you note that she recognizes you and facepalms, before going up to the teacher's desk.
At the very least whatever irritation that was plauging you has stopped, although you hae this strange gut feeling...this girl is hiding something big. but what?

The girl was really troubling Shirin's mind now, but there was no way she had the guts for just walking up to the girl and ask what exactly is the matter with her.
Shirin wondered why the girl acted like this when she saw her sitting in the same classroom, what did she do wrong?
Nevertheless, asking for attention probably wasn't going to solve anything right now, so she just looked down at her notebook and started writing again, feigning obliviousness.
It's possible (vaugely unlikely but possible) that whatever vibe you're getting from her, she's also getting from you. might explain why she ran off upon recognizing you.
As the bell rings, the class settles down and the teacher comes gets out of his chair and has the girl stand up front.
"Ah yes, we have a new transfer student; this is Whitney Meiers from Ohio, she just got here three days ago. Whitney, do you have anything you want to say?"
Whitney shakes her head, but as she's sitting down, shoots a glance at Shirin. It's not much but a thought plants itself in her head.
"be outside the cafeteria at lunchtime."
Wait...did Shirin think that? it wasn't somethign she'd normally do, but it couldn't possibly be anyone else...

Shirin showed not a single physical sign, but inside she was frightened now. This was probably the weirdest day she ever had and she expected nothing else but for it to get even weirder.
She did something she didn't do these days; send a silent prayer to Ahura Mazda, the supreme Zoroastrian deity. It wasn't fully intentional, but she felt a little relieved afterwards. More so, it gave her courage she knew not to have in her.
Bathing in this newfound courage, Shirin decided she would go to the cafeteria, even though it was her habit to avoid it is at much as possible.
Catching herself far too busy with the mental domain, she quickly switches her attention to the teacher again. She appears completely calm now, not a single hint of weakness for the other students to see.
The lesson seems farily mundane with you taking notes as always, occasional glances at the new girl, Whitney, show that she seems to be acting much the same; she must be understanding the material well enough.
The girls' other classes went by fairly simply, with Whitney nowhere to be seen in any of them. Before long it was lunchtime...
Seriously, are you sure you want to bother with this? There's no indication that anyone would be waiting for you, much less the new girl. Even if she was there by random chance, what could she possibly want?

Shirin was indeed become unsure now, whether or not she should go. She pondered about the message. Had it been intuition? Or are there truly gods and has one whispered this into her mind?
Even though she was still unwilling, her legs carried her there. She just had to check, be sure that there was nothing going on, and if not she would get the heck out of there again.
Well, better to check, since it's not like doing so will make you look like an idiot. It makes sense to at least check, then if nothing's going on you can pass it off as nothing.
As you peer into the cafeteria, you see Whitney leaning up against a support beam, but...she looks kind of different. You're not sure how but something seems strange. Maybe it's because that instead of people flocking towards her, they seem to almost go out of their way to avoid her.

She had made it to outside the cafeteria, but Shirin could think of no reason to go inside. Instead she lingered, wondering about Whitney.
Why had she suddenly turned so repulsive to the others? Because Shirin found this girl to be attractive. Even to her, who felt so separated from the world, who had no affinity to most human beings.
For a moment she considered going up and talk to Whitney, but she found herself lacking courage now. She was even afraid of walking up on a girl completely new to this environment, who had no idea of how Shirin was. She cursed her own weakness and waited a little longer, as if expecting something would happen right now.
Apparently Shirin won't need to make up her mind about this, as Whitney has noticed her and is coming outside to speak. She gives you a funny look as she approaches, then speaks.
"Seriously, I don't know why she's giving me all this crap...please tell me you didn't destroy any paintigs recently?
Also, you can ignore like 95% of what Julie said, she's loony."
Well...how do you come back from that?

At first, Shirin didn't do anything at all. Such things truly shut her mind down for a moment or two, she couldn't think. All she really wanted to was to run away, but she was stunned. Rooted to the ground she stood staring into Whitney's eyes. She wondered whether she thought them to be a divine brilliance to worship, or a dark void to drown in.
Then she finally started thinking again, and spoke with a nervous, weak voice "You're... Whitney, right?"
It were the only words that she managed to get across her lips right now, she felt like a small child in a dark room filled with the many gleaming eyes of specters she could not wish away.
The girl apparently isn't amused by Shirin's nervousness, and it showed in her attitude.
"Yeah, that's me. Now can you please explain why you decided to trash a painting completely at random?"
Lots of things are going on in your head, but the biggest thing is wondering what Whitney could be talking about, you certainly don't remember destroying anything lately, especially not paintings...

This was getting weirder by the minute, but nevertheless, Shirin responded. "Paintings? I haven't destroyed any painting, ever. Paintings are to be admired, not ravaged." She didn't sound irritated at all, and her nervousness was already decreasing. That was probably due to the fact that Whitney seemed to be as strange as Shirin thought herself to be.
"Look, I know you're lying, so let's just cut the cr-" Whitney fires back a retort before cutting herself off, staring directly into your eyes.
She's got dark blue eyes, you note; almost alluring, she could melt almost any boy's heart with a glance if she wanted to.
"You're...not lying? Okay...this is getting messed up..." Whitney is shaking her head, unsure of how to proceed. "did you feel anythign weird this morning?"

Shirin was still in a conflict inside. Part of her didn't want to have this conversation at all, she just wanted silence... But then again, she also wanted answers. It appeared as if Whitney was the key to all that happened today.
So she answered, again, and she was relieved that the question wasn't as weird this time. "I... yeah, I did. It felt as if someone was... poking me?"
"Huh..." Whitney closed her eyes, trying to piece things together you figure. It's certainly something that's very eerie, and the fact that she brought it up makes it more so.
"I think I might know what it is...but I really hope it's not it. Is this what you were feeling?" Whitney blinks, and you notice her eyes somehow look different...they're alight with energy now, as opposed to just gazing boredly.
You also notice that the tickling sensation returns in full force, it's taking most of your willpower to not break out into spontaneous laughter.

The girl doens't have to be told twice. Slowly closing her eyes, Whitney stops whatever was happening with Shirin's senses, as several people who had become attracted to the enigmatic transfer student started to walk away. opening her eyes, you see the energetic flame in them has been snuffed, while their owner sighs as she speaks.
"Okay, I was afraid of that...we need to find someplace private to talk. Now."
That last word was spoken softly, but it carried so much power...Shirin's body almost felt forced to comply with the request, her mind noting that several other people seemed to turn and face Whitney, despite her not speaking very loudly.
