Crowds as far as the eye can see in all directions gather around the Pillar of the Paruns, hoping to bear witness to the grandest event of their lifetimes: the renewal of the only thing that holds Ravnica in one piece, the mighty Guilldpact.
They wait, and wait, their mounting cheers giving way after the hours to ebbing hope. At least, in a brilliant flash of indigo and crimson, Niv-Mizzet the Firemind appears at the Pillar of the Paruns and signs the Guildpact with an elegant flare of fiery breath. Just as soon the creature disappears in a plume of billowing smoke, leaving the thousands gathered gasping for more. Again the cheers rise, and the celebrations are renewed, and any who doubted are shamed by their peers.
But by sunset, when it becomes brutally and painfully clear that none of the other Guildmasters have come to add their names to the document, the acute feeling of despair is punctuated when the stone that forms the Pillar of the Paruns begins to flake, then crack, and finally crumble. In only moments it is gone, like a sandcastle washed away in the rising tide. For the first time in a hundred generations, Ravnica is without a Guildpact.
The silence is absolute. None dare move, none dare speak. The city-plane collectively holds its breath. None dare contemplate what the future of will bring.
[Game Explanation]
In Dissension, each player controls one of the mighty ten guilds on the plane of Ravnica. Each guild is represented by the game mechanics as a collection of assets, and each asset has a number attached to it which represents its value. Each day an asset can perform one action on any other asset. An action is successful if the total value of the assets collaborating on the action is greater than the value of the asset they are targeting.
The Izzet League's player has vanished, and the spot needs to be filled ASAP. If you are interested in taking the reigns of the League now that the Guildpact has been sundered and Ravnica has been thrown in dissension, please post exactly once in the Applications thread using the following form:

Choice of Faction: The Izzet League
Guildmaster: ?
Tell me about the leader of your faction. I want to get a sense of their personality and leadership style. I want to get inside their head. I want to know why you do what you do. Most importantly, you need to prove to me that you can turn a Magic card into an interesting enough character to feature as a key player in a roleplaying game.

Tell me your game plan. What, precisely, are your immediate goals? How are you planning to accomplish them? Who are you willing to work with? Now that the Guildpact has been sundered, how do you want to position your faction?
[/private]
You can take liberties with your applications and deviate from the previous player's description of the faction (scrolling required). Not only will this allow you to truly own the faction when you take charge, but also it will allow you to surprise the other players who think they know what your faction is all about. For example, even though the current Guildmaster is Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind you will be permitted to choose a different Guildmaster if you wish, as long as you write a narration to explain the change.
