it occured to me that the kind of music we listen to can become really important to us, even in deep "identity / who am i ?" ways.
but i don't get an opportunity to really understand other people through their musical interests!
so i'm making a new quick reply game to see if i might be able to.
-----------------------
here are the rules:
1) the previous poster poses a request: "Tell me about art that: ______". the blank can be simple and concrete ("Tell me about art that has the word "hate" used in it") or abstract ("Tell me about art that you at first didn't like but now love").
2) the following poster answers the request, by
a) posting the title and author(s) of a piece of art that fulfills the previous person's request. ("Art" includes things like music, television shows, films, paintings, etc.)
b) optionally giving an elaboration/explanation,
c) and optionally writes any other remarks the poster feels like they want to share. (you might talk about how you discovered the work of art and how old you were, the last time you heard it, what things it brings to mind, etc).
then this poster adds a new "Tell me about art that: _____" request.
3) if there was a request unanswered for two full days, we can assume that people are having too much difficulty answering the request; and so any person may ignore the request and tell us about any piece of artwork they wish.
so i'll start...

Raging Goblin He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.
tell me about art that: you first hated, but then liked a lot.

Billy Talent's third album "Billy Talent III"
optional explanation: i really loved billy talent's first two albums. those albums had a musical style that i thought was genius and original, where they'd weave different instrumental lines in ways i never heard before, to a great gripping and emotionally exciting effect.
` i was expecting the same from their third album, but didn't get it. instead, their third album had a fairly often-used sound to it. i was disgusted and didn't listen to the CD i had bought so eagerly, until a few months later. i gave it a chance, and now i realize that i just have to listen to that CD with different expectations. it isn't the same Billy Talent as the first two albums, but it's still good in its own way.
optional additional remarks:
billy talent started out in he suburb of toronto that i live in. i've always thought that was pretty cool :-), since the suburbs are not known for being progressive in the arts!
tell me about art that: you listened to in much younger years.
oh, the film The Sound of Music for sure!! (most musicals are "feel-good" in their escapism), but i think i must have watched The Sound of Music at least 20 times, probably more.
i think singing part of the sountrack in elementary school might have made it that much more nostalgic
tell me about art that ... is confusing.
