hey all. sorry this is up so late. crazy week. if you ever get offered a job that requires you to watch a gilbert and sullivan play 2-3 times a day for a couple weeks, i highly suggest saying no.
This thread contains the results for week 3 of All Blind Tournament #21 and is the start of week 4 of ABT#21. Week 3 of ABT#21
This round was '5CB Alternate Scoring'.
in which we gave 2 points for each game win and 1 point for each game draw.
im not sure exactly how that effects metagaming. i figured yall would go fancier to get more draws and just tried to be aggro. we'll soon see how that worked out The Entries

Next Round : Week 4 of ABT#21 3CB Extra Land Rule Format Rules
Deck size: 3 cards
Land Rule: ELR - Any player may play a basic land of his or her choice from outside the game any time he or she could normally play a land. Any player may play an additional land on each of his or her turns from his or her hand. Special Rules:
Blind Magic is an online Magic format played here on the forums. Players play with an extremely limited deck size, such as 3 cards. Players begin with their entire deck (ie: those three cards) in hand and have no library (players don't lose when they fail to draw a card because of this). Due to the extremely limited number of play options given with their small deck size, games are calculated, rather then played, with an absolute determined winner (or a tie). Each player plays a match of two games against each other player who submitted - once going first, and once going second. Wins, losses, and ties for each of those two games are calculated by the moderator and players. The actual fun of the game comes from trying to decide which cards you will be playing.
The All Blind Tournament is a four-week XCB tournament, which spans all card blind formats and embraces a progressive anti-metagame. For each week of the four-week tournament, a new XCB format is announced for players to enter. Players compete for points (similiar to the PotM points for previous XCB games) each round. At the end of the four-week tournament, the player who has accumulated the most points over the four weeks wins the tournament, and receives a real-world prize.
OH MY GOD. I wrote the wrong land.
that was suppose to be dark depth, not tomb.
the idea was:
1) Pendelhaven -> Exploration -> Land.
2) Land, land, copy Depths
... Legend rule, Stage makes a 20/20 kills 3rd.
The quote from my PM (where I say what the plan is), showing that it was a name blunder:
Thank you all for letting me fix my blunder.
This did change our matchup tom :/
1. We both win 3rd. 2-2
2. x
3. Bridge with 0 hand. 0-4
4. Agreed 2-2
5. Agreed 2-2
6. Swing race. 4-0
2 | 2 X 0 2 2 4 | 10 | 300
@piato - yeah, that matchup is quite close both ways we go. Foiling exploration becomes a game winning decision, and you get me down to just inkmoth and an activating land before I kill you with swings.
Tournament Points
Multiply your total points by 30.
That will be the number of tournament points you get this round.
Unadjusted points would be divided by 5 players * 100 for %.
Unadjust TPs is 400.
Normal TPs is 600.
So we multiply by 600/400 = *1.5
ok. agree with the two corrections to my line. original post edited.
only matchup left is 3v6: 4-0
no targets for karakas.
if whamme foils anything but elixir, knobbodi shuffles it back.
if whamme foils elixir, the rest of the plan goes off and wins.
with that, grid is complete pending corrections. assuming none, congrats piato on the week win. and the month lead.
also, ive tried to clean up the first post. putting some things within spoilers and linking to the actual rules post rather than posting them here. any opinions on these changes? im trying to do some things to make XCB more accessible to a new player.
We both agree that I win on my play, by a turn. On my draw, we can agree that I lose if I play exploration 1st turn. This is what I calc'd, and I believe it's what he calc'd. It dawned on me today that if I play exploration on 2nd turn, a foil will will put the Smallpox's 2 turns behind. He has to redraw for the first Smallpox, and the 2nd will force him to redraw Foil, giving me the turns I need. Not Foiling the Exploration will also net me a turn, as I play out faster.
I won't bother listing the vault counters. Suffice to say, he'll always have enough to cast his smallpox after his 2nd turn.

Exploration / Inkmoth Nexus / Pendelhaven / Thespian's Stage / dark depths
this is a pretty cool new build. exactly the sort of thing that should have happened as soon as the new legend rule
3knobbodi : Argent control
City of Traitors / Sol Ring / Ensnaring Bridge / Elixir of Immortality / Shrine of Burning Rage
not sure how i feel about shrine, but you know i love dat elixir
4piato : foiled again
Ulamog the infinite gyre / Smallpox / Foil / Underground Sea / Bottomless Vault
i love the slow roll smallpox
5bronYAur : scavenging the void
Anurid Scavenger / Black Lotus / Leyline of the Void / Beast Within / Quicksand
scavenger is probably my least favorite recursion engine. but it looks reasonably well positioned this week.
6whammewhamme : one singular sensation
Leyline of Singularity / Karakas / Foil / Island / Chancellor of the Forge
foil and karakaline is pretty sweet control. we'll see if a 1/1 is enough

If I play exploration on 2nd turn, I should win by a turn.
Piato may see something I don't, though.

Stage is lost to discard, so it's not even a close race then.
I knew there was a good chance I was just overlooking something.
All these different plays that get you to 9 poison just had me thinking there might have been a way.
Oh well. As I said when I submitted the deck, I still love it regardless of what it scores.

but i may extend it if not too many decks are in.
