Taken from Megiddo who probably took them from other people.
1. There are no alignment-changing roles, jesters, or cults in this game.
2. No post editing, no PM quoting. No discussing the game with anybody aside from me and people specifically outlined in your role PM, and only at the time and in the manner specified.
3. If you are dead, do not post or communicate with anybody about the game in any form. Not even a Bah! post.
4. Lynch will be reached with a majority vote. No amount of unvoting will stop this.
5. If you need me to respond to something directly, please PM me. I probably won't respond to any question in-thread unless it is incredibly basic (e.g., a vote count mishap).
6. Respect the spirit of the game and do not engage in any out-of-game behavior. Activity stalking, attempting to get yourself modkilled, or similar behaviors will result in a modkill and recommendation that you be put on probation.
7. Bold your votes. Unvote before voting for somebody else. Make all votes on a new line. If you do not follow these rules I will not count your vote.
8. If a deadline for a lynch is reached without a majority, the Day will end in No Lynch. If you fail to submit a Night action by the deadline, it will not be counted. Please inform me if you wish to take no action at Night.
9. Feel free to use your original role PM to communicate with me. If you choose not to, please title all PMs with "True Name" or similar and include the current Phase if your PM pertains to taking actions.
10. Do not thank the posts of any players in the game.
Player Responsibilities
1. Follow the rules. If you break a rule, you will almost certainly be modkilled. This is your warning.
2. Play clean and ask me before doing anything that could even potentially run afoul of these rules. Ask me before doing something that is "usually" against the rules that I may have omitted from mine accidentally.
3. Have fun, but make sure that your fun does not infringe upon the fun of others.
4. Post regularly, at least once every 72 hours at a bare minimum.
5. PM me with any questions. Don't assume.
6. Inform me if players need prods. Failure to post after 72 hours is grounds for a prod.
Mod Responsibilities
1. Handle all game actions swiftly and correctly.
2. Provide regular and accurate vote counts.
3. Respond to all PMs within a reasonable period.
4. Provide links to waypoints, thread title updates, and other thread upkeep.
5. Issue prods and locate replacements if needed.
True Name Mafia is a game with an additional layer of secret identities. Each player hides behind a gimmick account while attempting to discover the identity of others in addition to their alignment. Some players will gain benefits upon Naming others.
All players will post with their assigned gimmicks at all times. But as switching accounts can be a headache, I will be lenient with mistakes. If I suspect anyone of attempting to take advantage of this, that player will be modkilled.
Do not post with your assigned gimmick anywhere but in the game thread. Again, I will be lenient with mistakes, but if possible, mistakes in other threads should be deleted.
Any time you see the word Name with a capital letter, it is referring to the game mechanic of guessing a player's true username.
Once per in-game Day, any player may say [GimmickName], I name you [OriginalName]. This is done in the same manner as voting, on a separate line and bolded or will not be counted.
I will respond in thread whether or not the Naming was correct.
If it was correct, once I have revealed it to be correct, the player that had their name successfully guessed will cease posting with their gimmick and post with the account they signed up with. The player that guessed correctly has Named them.
If it was incorrect, nothing happens except that I will inform the guessing player of his or her failure in thread.
If multiple people attempt to Name different players or the same player without waiting for me to resolve each one, all attempts will be resolved in the order they were posted, and all players that have guessed without waiting for previous guesses to be resolved still have spent their day's attempt no matter the outcome.
For example: Cantripmancer posts "CrypticGimmick, I name you KoolKoal" and next Kraj posts "BlandestGimmick, I name you KoolKoal." Cantripmancer is correct and has successfully named KoolKoal; Kraj is incorrect and has spent his attempt to Name for the Day despite the fact that he could have waited for Cantripmancer's Naming to be resolved to his benefit. Note: The forum no longer pauses your post to show you new posts that have gone up since you began writing your post. Please remember to check the thread for new posts manually when attempting to Name another player.
Any attempt at Naming that cannot be obviously interpreted as a single gimmick and a single player, both in the game will be an automatic failure of the Naming attempt and will count as your attempt for the Day.
The day ends when a player has been lynched or a no-lynch is voted on as normal. If you haven't used your Naming attempt before the deciding vote is cast, your attempt is lost for the day.
You cannot Name yourself.
Win Conditions: The town win condition is: You win the game when all threats to the town are dead. The mafia win condition is: You win when your team controls the vote.
1. Deadlines for this game will be: <# of players> + <lynch threshold> = Deadline in days. The maximum length for a Day will be three weeks.
2. Each Day phase will have a deadline. Night phases will last 72 hours until half of the players are dead, at which point they will be shortened to 48 hours. Nights may be shortened further toward the end of the game.
3. During the game, there are up to three deadline extensions available. These extensions may be requested by the players at any time in the thread, and may be granted at my sole discretion. Don't be mad if I say no.
The options are as follows:
A: 24 hours per player OR 7 days, whichever is shorter.
B: 72 hours
C: 48 hours
Extension Rules:
- Once a particular extension is used, it cannot be used again that same game.
- Any number of extensions can be used in the same game Day.
- If the players do not specify which extension they wish to use (or if there is no consensus on which one to use), I will pick the remaining option highest up on the list.
- Extensions are appended to the deadline time. There's no need to strategically time when the request is made.
- At least two players must request an extension for it to be considered.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
Still think this should be your serious vote May?
What exactly do you think made me scum?
Better yet, why the past tense? It sounds like you're suggesting that you were scum before you got your real name. Compare "What exactly makes you think I'm scum?" and "What exactly do you think made me scum?" Now, there are no alignment-changing rules, but it is a curious language choice. It's possible that the gimmick name could cause a player to have a feeling of hiding something, and thus feel like he's guilty. Conversely, the way Huntzilla jumps out of his shell is like we should all be expecting him to be town. As if this is something he does often. And more specifically, his first question suggests that he expects me to be aware of this pattern, which carries an air of legitimacy, whereas the second question does not. Can someone with more experience tell me if this is, indeed, something Huntzilla does often?
On that note, can we avoid naming people, please? At the risk of being torn into for saying this, I have a strong suspicion that the mafia nightkill operates on real names.
Felt strange to be hiding.
Feels so much more comfortable for me to be out in the open like this.
I find it a little weird that you would join this game, given that Naming is such a big part of it.
I dislike March even more, though, because Hunt's action was a little weird, and therefore having it asked after was pretty natural.
@March: Why do you believe that the question had anything to do with Hunt's role? In particular, why do you still believe that after Hunt's himself has confirmed it wasn't role related?
On that note, can we avoid naming people, please? At the risk of being torn into for saying this, I have a strong suspicion that the mafia nightkill operates on real names.
What is this suspicion based on? Whimsy, or something more substantiated?
And, more importantly, why are you so worried about being torn into?
I was mind fishing. Tell me what you think of Hunt's reaction to being named.
vote Febbre
I don't think anything about it.
[neonsign] Scum post above [/neonsign]
The game is designed with the whole idea that identities are secret, otherwise, we could just mass claim true names. So Hunt's relief at being named was obviously weird and I doubt March didn't consider that. Then when I asked him to give an opinion on Hunt's reaction he balked when it didn't make sense to do so unless he was uncomfortable with the question. No way he had no reaction to Hunt's play and no reason not to share a reaction to Hunt's play.
Unvote: Vote: March
@May - Hunt's reputation is that he plays scummy as town and I think he expects people to know that about him but I've never seen him intentionally play that up in a game before. I'm thinking his relief was that he worried that people wouldn't overlook his play with the gimmick, especially cause his response to me was that he was more comfortable like this but he wasn't posting differently as the gimmick anyway.
If anyone not mechanically confirmed tries to Name Jan I will lynch them unless Jan tells me otherwise.
Though I have thought about that a little more and I will accept someone who is very strongly townie who Names me, so long as they ask permission first or I specifically say that they are allowed to Name me.

That octopustoes needed to be told what fishing was (and it was a fairly blatant fish at that)is very weird, and makes me think it's deflecting away experience. Implies to me that it's probably someone renowned for his/her scum game and may be trying too hard to ensure they're not found out. Or as comment below, just nerves about being discovered in general.

Because of things you said publicly, my role PM, and because people lie. Hunt is most likely lying, badly. Probably as town, but I don't know for sure. Judging from you, me, and Hunt, being named, and naming people, probably has a lot of role-related implications for a lot of the players. Not the kind of thing I like to see people asking about. Not a question Feb should have asked.
