As it stands, I am curious, how does your day one go? How many posts in does the average day go, and what (in your opinion) ends up being the trigger?
Since I haven't heard from you, I'll assume you meant my home forum.
Our day ones are usually a mislynch. I don't remember if I've mentioned this, but we only get to vote once, so the day is spent talking about who is suspicious and why. And everyone votes before the 48 hour day ends. Whoever has the majority of votes dies, so you don't need greater than half of the population voting the same way. I don't know how many posts there are, but there isn't really a trigger, someone is going to die regardless.

vote Iso because I'm sure I'll end up scumreading him at some point.
As a reminder, I'm V/LA Friday-Sunday.
Well, this is one small ping I had. Kamikaze comes in to rvs Iso but remind us he is out the next three days. Keep in mind that's a whole day and night where I come from. It doesn't bother me that he is on a leave of absence. It doesn't bother me that he voted random. What bothers me is that he was careless enough to leave his vote on someone he doesn't really even suspect while he was away.
Hypothetically. If he's town, he's making it just a little easier theoretically for someone to be lynched. He wouldn't be around to switch his vote if a bandwagon formed.
Thoughts? Also, I just had an awkward scary moment where I realized I don't even know how many mafia we are up against.
Interesting. The not being able to move your vote around sounds risky though.
@Blind:
1). Yes, I meant your home website, as my response above suggests.
2). I think the ability to move votes around is more common here as unfortunately, day 1s can last quite long. Having the ability to move one's vote though is quite nice.
3). Vote Hunt.

I like your thinking, but a lynch in just 3 days is so unlikely to happen around here, that I doubt it even crossed his mind. I wouldn't hold this minor carelessness against him.
You're kinda new here, so I'm going to do this research for you (and everyone else) on every first post I've made on this site, bar having PR's or replacing:
Vote ZDS since we can't beat him anyways, and turning me into the monster I am today. Unvote, vote Tanarin for making me take the first step in reviving Blind Hydra. Unvote, vote Ria before he backdoors his way back into the admin panel and gets us all sitebanned to win by default. Unvote, vote ganderin_dan for breaking his RVS-abstaining trend and potentially ending RVS for everyone else. unvote, vote Tom because I'm mad he took my quote out of his sig, and fooled me like everyone else unvote, vote pinkfloyd for making that setup rediculous.
Opportunistic voting sucks worse. You should know better than to believe that.
Asension's overly nervous, but sounds genuine in his posts so far. Anyone taking that seriously needs to reevaluate what RVS means.
Massclaim sounds awful, flavorgaming is even worse.
Gifts is trying very hard to push a wagon that shouldn't exist, with the flailing comment just fearmongering/use of buzzwords.
Quite like Tan.
I will be hammering all lynches, and behavior otherwise will be constituted as anti-town behavior.

Damn, I've been town a lot.
Hi, I'm ganderin_dan (gd, g_d, Dan, gan_dan all used with regularity). I'm coming back after about a year long hiatus, but was regarded as an above-average new player in the crop that featured Iso. I fluctuate between posting rapidly when I am invested in a game, and forcing myself to catch up repeatedly over the course of a game as I inevitably fall behind, or become disinterested (or both). I have replaced in close to 50% of my existing game on this site, and can push through an initial reread with decent results.
My analysis style features a lot of formal logic, trying to find inconsistencies and poor mindsets. I generally start by working backwards, in that I townclear players more than I actively scumhunt until later in the game, when night actions can start clearing up the puzzle. Generally when I have a publicly confirmed PR, my personality becomes much more demanding and imposing.
My scumgame is criminally underdeveloped, as I've rolled scum here very infrequently. I get nervous and have a hard time defending myself. I have a hard time lying as scum.
As both alignments, I can tend to lie low if other players are leading the charge. I hate walls of quotes, and prefer to try and read players that are having back and forths without that muddying their posts.
I know this is a lot to ask, but for anyone that's up to it, I'd appreciate any sort of short "introduction/bio" post for my benefit. I can start and we'll see if this goes anywhere
Hi! I'm Iso. I've been playing for almost 4 years, now, and have almost 120 completed forum Mafia games under my belt. I'm the former Mafia Secretary and former Mafia League Head Judge for our site, as well as a current Moderator for our little subforum, and a recently ordained member of the Mafia Council. My playstyle fluctuates based on my mood and my IRL circumstances. As any alignment, I like to create massive walls of text that no one will read because it's easy to catch scum that aren't paying attention to the game that way when I'm town, and it's a great way to look like I'm actually doing something and get ignored for pressure when I'm scum. Combine that with spurious, pithy one-liners and reaction images/videos and you have my playstyle in a nutshell. As town, I have a bad habit of pushing people to their emotional brink, which frequently causes unpleasant feelings and implosions, and usually results in a vote on myself. While it's an effective way to discern a player's alignment, it also unfortunately makes me look like a jackass, so I've been trying to do that less in recent games so as to make our community a tad bit more harmonious. I used to love drawing scum role PMs because it was incredibly fulfilling to beguile everyone with relative ease, but now I enjoy being town more, as it's more of a challenge to solve the game than go through the song and dance of "neener neener you can't catch me". (Unless I'm an SK, and then I have a blast, because rolling Neutral is one of my favorite things - see Cantripmancer's last game and Ozone Underground for details on that.) As town, my posts are more emotional, off-the-cuff, and instantaneous, with multi-layered trapping language, whereas my scum posts attempt to appear as such but are often far more calculating and have a less transparent agenda. The easiest way to catch me as scum is twofold - I tend to phone it in near endgame because I get bored, and very rarely do I make a mistake when I'm scum because of how self-conscious I am as a player overall (yes, even when I'm town and posting spontaneously, I'm fully aware of the reactions my actions will elicit from others). If you look through my posts as a whole and there's contradicting logic, vast changes in mindset and read of the game state, and more reactivity in general (which, as I said, I'm working on), I'm probably town. If I don't get angry at some point at something dumb, keep an even tone throughout the game, and seem to have a pre-set notion of what I'm going to do this game and I follow it through, I'm probably scum. I'm really good at breadcrumbing and falseclaiming as either alignment to make my own ends meet, whether it's to get a player I think is scum lynched or to confirm myself as town (even if I'm not). I have a bad habit of relying on mechanics to clear me (again, as either alignment) and generally toot my own horn as to how I've voted, who I've caught, etc. near endgame in an attempt to get people to listen to me if they start to scrutinize me. I'm just a tad self-absorbed and egocentric, so I like the spotlight, and the glory that comes with taking down my enemies - so when people start to question me, I get angry or annoyed. I like to push for reactions and catch odd slips in early game, going so far as to attempt to name the entire scum team on Day 1 whenever possible (see: Deitriptychos, XKCD), and I pride myself pretty heavily on being able to correctly identify scum in an endgame scenario (see: Drury Lane, Polyopticon). Fortunately for scumIso, this is also a great way to line up lynches with little effort, in the name of "needing more information to clear up the question marks", a tactic I also use as town. At least once per game, I try to take a step back from my perspective on things and view everything in a completely objective manner, which generally includes a re-read of the game. I can more easily pick up things I missed that way, and my interpretation of the game state will dramatically change - a technique I call "Paradigm Shift". I'm sure there are a few other important things to note about my play, but I'm half-asleep, have a job interview in 6 and a half hours, and I can't focus properly on the rest of this.
Does anyone have suspicions at this point? I noticed something really minor but don't have a good bearing yet.
Yes. Feel free to toss your vote around as you see fit - it's a great way to pressure people you think are scum. You'll find voting freedom is quite nice!

I think it's null. If I get run up, it's fairly easy to look at my wagon and say, "This guy is still voting me from RVS, this person's reasoning is crap, etc." and completely handwave all the pressure to use the momentum to lynch someone I think is scum. We start off with RVS, so silly votes are expected, and I see no reason to suspect someone for leaving their RVS vote on me while being gone for a few days.

You're going to need to get used to a new tempo. Day one usually takes about a month around here. There's no chance anyone's going to get lynched while I'm gone.
Iso if you quotewall this game I'm going to daykill you.

I like your thinking, but a lynch in just 3 days is so unlikely to happen around here, that I doubt it even crossed his mind. I wouldn't hold this minor carelessness against him.
OK. But in addition, consider: he decides to pop in and inform us of the Vaca. Why not just leave it at that? What is the purpose of the vote? My thought is purely for meta reference, which for me is just plain unhelpful bcause I don't have a reference point. Nothing to lynch him over, but he has my eye for now. I didn't care for the tone I read in his response to me. You'll recall I try to read into the agenda of posts. I think his was to hint I didn't know what the hell I was talking about since I'm new. Again not damning, but something about feeling discredited makes me uneasy.
Gan_dan, was that demonstration of your meta record of abstaining from rvs really necessary? No one was really accusing you of anything. I suspect it may have been a tad early to make such an effort to defend yourself?
DAMN IT THAT DIDN'T SPROUT EXTREMELY IMPORTANT DISCUSSION VERY QUICKLY
(I don't actually have a daykill btw. Just in case anyone was thinking...)
This gave me weird scary ideas regarding how the town has just as much potential/likelihood of lying in a closed format game like this, right?
I mean, theoretically no one knows what our roles do but ourselves, so its a benefit because the mafia are in the dark too. And spilling the beans about our abilities just makes us a likely night target if it is a good ability, right?
Which is all to say, I'm totes vanilla town, quick, look away
I had voted him for that, as typically trying to avoid RVS is a scum tell. It would appear that abstaining from RVS is actually a signature Gan_Dan move, which I was unaware of. Unvote
Come on, you know you want to.
TCM and Iso are clearly scum now.
Do the thing.
Well, you're half right.
Unvote, Vote TCM
Will you be going back to your original plan and voting that person? I am guessing TCM is also not this person.
I am never anything BUT town... haven't you recognized that yet...
@KCC
Well, you know me well enough to know I had half a mind to vote Iso for pre-planning his targets, because to me that is a scum mindset. But I am not getting the scum!Iso vibe from him yet. And he explained I wasn't the target he had mentioned.
TCM comes along and naked votes, which is something I typically dislike. Would like to hear his reasoning.
But the naked vote I REALLY dislike is OceanBlack's. It seems very ill-timed as people are starting to wagon on TCM and he provides the counter wagon.
@Oceanblack
Why are you voting B_E2?
1. WAGONS! but also
2. He said 'my town meta sucks' which seems like trying to excuse his future bad play and
3. He voted a dude with no explanations well out of RVS. Which I kind of just did, shut up
Anyway, I'm dumb.
Don't be so quick to discredit yourself, listen to your gut. And then tell me what it's telling you. Without calling yourself names. And none of that weird stomach growling *****, I mean reasoning/logic. Or you know, I'll daykill you. Since I have that ability and all
I had voted him for that, as typically trying to avoid RVS is a scum tell. It would appear that abstaining from RVS is actually a signature Gan_Dan move, which I was unaware of. Unvote
I assume you're not clearing him for it, you're just indicating that since he does it every game, the reasoning behind your vote was null?
He is defnitely not 100% cleared. But like you mentioned, my reasoning for voting him was nullified by his self meta. So I take my vote away because it isn't applying any pressure or serving any purpose if my reasoning was flawed. Now I am waiting for answers to the blind vote situations, as these are the next scummiest things I have noticed, and most likely will be the next place I put my vote.
So the way I use my vote BF, is by using it against a person to "take there pulse and apply pressure." As we only have our vote as a weapon, votes become a meaningful tool in scumhunting here and getting people to listen to you. Feel free to throw your vote around as you see fit. I can see how being used to only voting once could be confusing for you, because we move our votes all the time.
But taking a vote away does not clear a person. Not at all...
Since I haven't heard from you, I'll assume you meant my home forum.

Welcome to MTGS!
Also, there are usually 3 scum in a Mini.
Astute observation. The person I was planning on voting was, in fact, not Huntzilla, but I saw an opportunity and played it out.
Do you even town, bro?
Well, you're half right.
Unvote, Vote TCM
Why question TCM on this vote but not myself?
(/barn, though.)
I believe dan played in Gotham Underground, yes?
You should totally shoot TCM.
Now I'm disappointed.
I think I understand what's going on, here, but I disagree. I'll explain why after you do your thing, though.

No, the correct answer is not "because Iso is doing it".

I'm voting him because
1. WAGONS! but also
2. He said 'my town meta sucks' which seems like trying to excuse his future bad play and
3. He voted a dude with no explanations well out of RVS. Which I kind of just did, shut up
Anyway, I'm dumb.
1)At least you implied that you were going to explain at some point.
2)That was my thought.
Why?

Iso if you quotewall this game I'm going to daykill you.
This gave me weird scary ideas regarding how the town has just as much potential/likelihood of lying in a closed format game like this, right?
I mean, theoretically no one knows what our roles do but ourselves, so its a benefit because the mafia are in the dark too. And spilling the beans about our abilities just makes us a likely night target if it is a good ability, right?
Which is all to say, I'm totes vanilla town, quick, look away

Will you be going back to your original plan and voting that person? I am guessing TCM is also not this person.
I am never anything BUT town... haven't you recognized that yet...
@KCC
@Oceanblack
Why are you voting B_E2?
I assume you're not clearing him for it, you're just indicating that since he does it every game, the reasoning behind your vote was null?
So the way I use my vote BF, is by using it against a person to "take there pulse and apply pressure." As we only have our vote as a weapon, votes become a meaningful tool in scumhunting here and getting people to listen to you. Feel free to throw your vote around as you see fit. I can see how being used to only voting once could be confusing for you, because we move our votes all the time.
But taking a vote away does not clear a person. Not at all...
