Naked votes are not helpful, even if you really do believe you found scum
I disagree. Their helpful in pushing forward a lynch. The only person who really doesn't benefit is the poor scum being voted because it makes them have to look back over the thread to work out how they've been aught. So sorry for making your life harder I guess.
what made you skeptical exactly? why did that change the tone of your response?
If you had just asked, "what are your thoughts on hunt's reaction," that would have been fine. But, I didn't appreciate the, "you made a good catch, but..." part, which makes it sound like I missed something, when I didn't miss *****. Especially, since you were the one that had just told hunt to abandon the conversation where he was clearly flailing.
The only thing that's giving me pause about you being a scumbuddy, is that hunt said "Megs convinced me," which is weird for a scum-scum interaction. Regardless, the subtle undermining of my case is irritating.
The secret is if he is alive at end game you should be worried.
I have resigned to myself that Chris is just one of those scum players who is good enough that it is almost better to focus on someone else first. I don't believe I have ever seriously tried to lynch Chris day 1 in the last 30 games or so I have played with him. Once day 2 rolls around and he is still alive I start to pay attention.

I disagree but for a different reason. Votes can do more then just push a lynch. I have on occasion voted someone for no reason whatsoever, or even with a false made up reason just to see the reactions of the people involved.
What makes you think this game isn't your opportunity?

hi Antny
Can you humor me and tell me what initially put you on to Huntzilla so early? Because it reads like, from your earlier interactions with him, that you suspected him right from the start, whereas I didn't get scum vibes from Huntzilla until around page 2, IIRC.

Your explanation, to Hunt, as to why you called him out on that post..
Nothing in Masterplum's post was actually scummy. Even if you believe the theory you're saying (which I'm not entirely sure you do), I don't see any reason why you could see Plum's though process as scummy. The vote looks somewhat oppurtunistic based on the early pressure. The bolding was also distinctive of someone trying to find fault to attack than someone actually looking to find scum.
But multiple people took issue with masterplum's post. Not only do you not seem to be considering the possibility that you are simply wrong here, but you chose only to call out Hunt, and he is very clearly the lowest hanging fruit in this instance. What made you take issue with Hunt's assessment of masterplum here, compared to anyone else that called out mp for the same post?

The biggest issues I take with it is that Hunt values a confirmed townie over a Cop, but that's a theory discrepancy, and the way he phrased his FoS seemed forced. What about that post made you " " so hard?

I actually completely missed your post. Im guessing you posted at some point while I was looking at the first page but before I posted. When I posted, it bumped me to the second page and I had assumed the page was full.
In regards to your concern of me stating that the loss of the lord commander wasn't a big deal but protection could save it,
I think we had a misunderstanding of what I meant when I said it wouldn't be a big deal. I am not implying that the lord commander is no better then a random townie. Rather I think the lord commander is on par with a low level town power such as a non recruiting mason. If we reach n1 and no thee power is claimed, protection could consider saving the lord commander (generally I don't like guiding power, with a few exceptions) on the other hand if we get a cop claim d1 obviously I would rather save the cop then the lord commander, and at that point it isn't a large loss.
The confusion probably came because I was comparing different scenarios at once; a possible protection situation if no other targets existed, or a no protection situation of another power needed saving. I realize that may have made my post confusing. Nevertheless my views of the situation haven't changed.
I'll take a more detailed look into you when I have more time. Your mindset just feels off to me, as a whole. I can't puzzle it out right now though.
So, DC's clarification of Rule #3 is exactly how I perceived it when I read it, which is why I found Killjoy's post to be very odd. It also rings of RobRoy's scum tell from back in the day - focused too much on mechanics, not on hunting scum.
Now, apparently there was some confusion - enough to the point where people clearly asked DC to clarify it - so maybe my misgivings over the post weren't fully warranted. However, what is interesting is that Killjoy ignored my vote on him, entirely; and then he had the nerve to point out Masterplum hadn't responded to his post about him at all.
Well isn't that interesting. /churchladyvoice
You didn't explain it. So I didn't bother with it. I knew you'd explain it eventually, then I could respond. Now I really don't need to, since you've noticed that everyone else misinterpreted that rule as well.
But in a later post, you say I ignored a question. What question is that?

KCC seems like she feels she is on to something. +town.
Unsure about Seppel v. Iso. Will wait for more info.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

I don't recall anyone else taking issue with the post just Hunt.
Not only do you not seem to be considering the possibility that you are simply wrong here, but you chose only to call out Hunt, and he is very clearly the lowest hanging fruit in this instance.
Wrong about what exactly? And why is Hunt low hanging fruit in your opinion?
What made you take issue with Hunt's assessment of masterplum here, compared to anyone else that called out mp for the same post?
The wind screamed above them as they all had hands to hilts. Surely the insurgents among them wouldn't be willing to attempt a show of force while out numbered so badly... but allowing them to strike at such seasoned and valued men within the Watch was also too risky.
The wind was too loud to hear and their misgivings were too strong to get close... so they stood. Watching. Waiting.
Oh before I go, I realize I forgot to address something.

All it really does is make you look like the lazy lurker you are. But again, I guess it is just a difference in opinion.
I'm not a fan of the seppel train either, but the hunt wagon is on scum.
And yeah, it's a little easier to find the scum when you have more posts to look at, but we usually deal with the low posters a little later in the game.
Why in the world would you wait until late game to "deal with the low posters?" That means you would have gotten rid of all the active players, with all of the content they have put into the thread, and left the lurkers behind for endgame? Where they have NO content for you to be able to analyze? How does this even make a lick of sense?
And your Hunt wagon is definitely not on scum, FYI.

One more thing on this...
Your vote was the laziest on my wagon, hence why I wanted your reasoning. If somehow you convince enough people of this fallacy to actually get me lynched, I want the town to look back at the lazy attempts to string me up...
Unfortunately now the weakest vote award on my wagon goes to Sir Chris.

To be clear, are you advocating early game lurker lynches here?
All it really does is make you look like the lazy lurker you are.
Wow, alliterative insults. You're getting desperate now. In future you should probably check whether people are lurking before you call them lurkers. I'd love to see you actually justify that lazy comment as well.
Do you have reads on anyone OTHER than me Antny?
Your the only strong read I have. Hope that makes you feel special.

I would say so, yes. I would prefer early lurker vigs if at all possible, but lynches would work. Lurkers are a pet peeve of mine. That is why I stay so active, I dislike those not participating.
My interest in a hunt lynch has tripled since he played the "when you'll lynch me you'll be sorry" card though. Seems premature. I think I would expect scum to try that as a tactic early

Not giving up, just tired of arguing against what appears to me as a nothing case... I am not sure exactly what to even say that Antny won't try to turn against me. So it's not defeat, it's exasperation and confusion.

I said, "a little later." -In what world does a little later than early D1 suddenly mean "late game?"
In a mini, I think after the first mislynch is the ideal time. -Not endgame.
And lynching lurkers D1 is what makes no sense. You're more likely to hit a busy or slow-start townie than scum, and either way, it gives little to no interaction info to work with D2 beyond the wagon itself.
Maybe. The real key to cutting inactivity is shorter days and not letting in people who are signed up in more then one game at once but there isn't much we can do about that.
I don't mind putting a good deal of pressure on lurkers though. We don't have to lynch them. We just lynch them if they don't show up and do something.

2. I was working up to it... As you stated earlier our votes are no good on Seppel at this time...

I don't mind putting a good deal of pressure on lurkers though. We don't have to lynch them. We just lynch them if they don't show up and do something.
Pressure is fine, as long as it isn't precluding analysis of the active players. And lynching can be an option, but not on D1.

What did hunt say since the last time you posted that would make you vote him? Obviously it is his vote of Chris, but why do you think that is scummy?
What is hunt doing that makes him scum? He has no plan. Is hunt bad enough at scum that you think he really would flop around this much? He is committing suicide with his posts. You think this makes him more likely to be scum?
You seem to think that this is a convenient time to vote hunt, when in actuality I can't see how anything hunt has done in the last few posts would push you over the edge to lynch him.
Excuse me.
-But he hasn't been particularly reckless, suicidal, or terrible; he's been well hunted. He actually made some fairly decent attempts to shake the pressure, just nothing I haven't seen a dozen times before.
His Chris vote in particular seems to me to be especially reckless if he were scum. I can't fathom how a scum hunt thinks that could remotely be a good idea.
Granted I have been burned by assuming scum are smart in the past. In my last game actually I called someone my town stone cold lock of the century of the week because he hammered scum over town Chris in tiebreakers day 1.
Turns out he was just really bad scum. Scum got rolled.
His Chris vote in particular seems to me to be especially reckless if he were scum. I can't fathom how a scum hunt thinks that could remotely be a good idea.
Iso's questions had just strongly implied to hunt that it was suspicious that hunt wasn't voting chris. And then hunt voted chris.
That's not reckless, that's hunt doing what he thought would avoid more pressure.

Perhaps you are correct.
Suppose hunt flips scum. Do you think hunts initial reluctance to vote Chris indicates they could be scum mates?
Suppose hunt flips scum. Do you think hunts initial reluctance to vote Chris indicates they could be scum mates?
I don't think that interaction looks like busing, from either side. It's probably just an indication that hunt was nervous about engaging chris directly like that.
Holy ***** alot of posts happened in the last couple of hours. I find Hunt's initial 'yeah **** lurkers' answer to be extremely short-sighted and illogical, but highly unlikely to have been a scum sentiment. On the other hand, I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaate the way that masterplum just jumped on board to tack on his 'me too' there. That feels 100% like a scum that knows a townie is being honest about their feelings on something and just wants to score some town cred. I was wavering on my vote on masterplum a little, but I am now 100% sold on it. I don't know what to make of his vote on Iso, though. I'll have to think about that one.

I'm not sure why you think it's anything Huntzilla has done since then that's caused me to vote him. Have you thought about this critically at all? Or are you really just that shortsighted as a Mafia player?

I'm really wavering on plum. I don't think scumplum (ha ha that rhymed) could make such an awful vote, based solely on what I've seen out of him so far.

He also types far more coherently.

Also, what Cyan said.

No, you didn't.

Everyone else is null right now for me.
Okay. Why are you lying?

Seppel's suspended for a week, so my vote's not doing anything where it is.
Let's attempt a paradigm shift and Vote DYH.

I don't recall anyone else taking issue with the post just Hunt.
Wrong about what exactly? And why is Hunt low hanging fruit in your opinion?
Again, what exactly are you referring to here?
The wind was too loud to hear and their misgivings were too strong to get close... so they stood. Watching. Waiting.

DYH: Look at Porcelin Waltz and Celestial; Mechanics optimization is a thing I do. I've always believed that before you play a game, you should be well acquainted with the rules. Just makes it easier to win that way.
All it really does is make you look like the lazy lurker you are. But again, I guess it is just a difference in opinion.
Do you have reads on anyone OTHER than me Antny?
Wow, alliterative insults. You're getting desperate now. In future you should probably check whether people are lurking before you call them lurkers. I'd love to see you actually justify that lazy comment as well.
Your the only strong read I have. Hope that makes you feel special.
Do you have dementia? We talked about this. I literally sat here and I told you why I thought you were scummy. You responded. Does none of this ring any bells?
I've seen scum flail before, but you're getting embarrassing. Just stop.
Fun fact: There's are no bad votes on you right now.
Seriously, you are embarrassing yourself. When I flip town, they better lynch you for being so incredibly wrong.
1. Why is this unfortunate?
2. Why aren't you pushing Sir Chris for his vote, now?

Slow start townies can be active while still having a slow start
Sure, in a perfect world, everyone would be active. But, in the real world, lynch all lurkers is a losing strategy, especially starting D1.
I don't mind putting a good deal of pressure on lurkers though. We don't have to lynch them. We just lynch them if they don't show up and do something.
1. It was unfortunate because I have never seen a scum SirChris, and I am very much intimidated at the thought of a scum!Chris.... I prefer him as my town ally... But being the weak vote on my wagon paints him in a bad light...
2. I was working up to it... As you stated earlier our votes are no good on Seppel at this time...

Vote Sir Chris
@sir chris
Please explain your read on me? If I am scum in your eyes, who are my scum mates?
Pressure is fine, as long as it isn't precluding analysis of the active players. And lynching can be an option, but not on D1.
Yeah, let's just do this.

I don't see huntzilla being this reckless as scum. This sort of suicidal abandon usually comes from town.

vote Iso
Now this is a vote I don't like.
Huh.
So that actually is your argument. I was not expecting that.
-But he hasn't been particularly reckless, suicidal, or terrible; he's been well hunted. He actually made some fairly decent attempts to shake the pressure, just nothing I haven't seen a dozen times before.
Granted I have been burned by assuming scum are smart in the past. In my last game actually I called someone my town stone cold lock of the century of the week because he hammered scum over town Chris in tiebreakers day 1.
Turns out he was just really bad scum. Scum got rolled.
Might as well correct myself before Chris corrects me.
I don't think that interaction looks like busing, from either side. It's probably just an indication that hunt was nervous about engaging chris directly like that.
