Re: Guilds: I'm a Boros. The Boros ability (battalion) is very similar to what Az described, in that like the Gruul we get stronger by acting together. I would like to remain unclear on what exactly "acting together" means until there is a consensus that this needs to be revealed, however.
I am also Boros. While it's not 100% the case, it's pretty likely that there is scum in each of the four guilds, so they probably already know what the clan abilities do. This is part of the reason I want a guild claim (which includes a general template/overview of what each guild ability does).
Is there SOP for how to deal with (potentially) multiple players whose alignments are not revealed on death?

I wouldn't bet on that. RTR had 2 Izzet scum, 1 Selesnya and none in the other three guilds. I will actually be pretty surprised if there isn't at least one guild (and more likely two) that include no scum.
Also, FWIW the guilds were not evenly distributed in RTR.
I can see a pretty potentially disastrous issue from NOT having one of the guilds claim in a limited fashion right up front, but haven't the slightest idea what sort of counter-measures may or may not be in place. To the point that if a claim of some kind doesn't go forward, it probably results in two townie deaths.
I am strongly in favour of some kind of guild-related claim, and in fact will probably end up claiming my own guild once we're moving past RVS. I'm not certain I am in the same guild as Az and maybe AI, but I do know I'm from a guild that strongly benefits from knowing who else is in it.

I'm surprised you have it as Gruul, Az. I figured it was an Orzhov thing, considering the card Immortal Servitude.
Az isn't Orzhov. He is Gruul.

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
I don't know anything about simic or orzov but it might be good for people to not claim either. It seems boros and gruel were both beneficial to claim but if one of the other two guilds isnt, then both shouldn't claim.
For example if simic not claiming is better but orzov is indifferent, orzhov claiming automatically is a forced Simic claim and visa versa.
I don't like Proph's #48. Behavioral interaction between 2 players is an important scumhunting tool and proph's whole point doesn't make sense. In fact, I find it troubling that he's more focused on clearing town than finding scum. AI's response to hans is the correct one, proph's just reeks.
unvote FoS Proph (Going with this instead of voting for the time being)
Is there SOP for how to deal with (potentially) multiple players whose alignments are not revealed on death?
I'd really like to know this as well
Sometimes there are roles that can Cop dead people. Or cause their alignments to be revealed to the thread. Other than that....Pray you got it right?

It's just a meta thing on how I play. Proph brings a mindset to the game that makes me question things I normally wouldn't see. I thought claiming a guild was a good idea until proph was against it. From there I extrapolated the above post about simic and orzhov. I can also link 2 games where I played much better than I normally do by working with proph, one of which I was town mvp. I've also never seen him run the town in to the ground as scum so I'm not scared of his scum game.
I think it would be a profitable exercise to look back at who started panicking when Az outed the Gruul mechanic. I think I detected a hint of that from AI.
I'm not going to use quotes because I'm on the phone, but there's a lot to react on.
The Gruul ability had to be claimed indeed. My gut says Az is town for doing so, but as scum it's also clear that it has to be outed, so that makes easy townpoints. I wouldn't go as far as Hawk and declare him town just for this.
AI's reaction to it is good.
@Zindabad: what do you see there that looks off?
I don't like Atog's reaction. Looks like he is testing the waters: he doesn't out at first that he's part of the worrisome guild. Looks like he was hoping he can keep it hidden and that Az was going to out another guild ability.
@Proph: why are you over explaining your Hans town read?
I'm not a fan of how ZDS claimed Boros. Looks like catching townpoints for warning us about a strong ability without stepping on fellow Boros toes by explaining too much.
Not liking Dkings either. I'm good at reading Hawk and there's nothing wrong with his opening post. It's strange that that is all Dkings wants to react to while he clearly read the rest of the game as well.
@Dkings: your read on Proph please?
AE's jab at Hawk looks very ugly.
Oh and @Karn: I'm also happy I made it in. I didn't see that though. Was Huntzilla in? He said in the signups he was going to /replace if I wanted in, so that might be why.
Really? Giving extra votes I've found to be neutral.
Quote from AI »
Why is that troubling?
He's spending time tying people together (in this case, ZDS and I) instead of hunting scum.
I think I'm okay with Az's Gruul claim, but I wouldn't throw out claims there for no reason. I would assume this is true (and probably even more so, since Megs mentioned that guilds have more of an impact on gameplay than usual):
Treat your Guild as you would any other piece of your role PM: Not to be shared without very good reason.
I'm worried that people like ZDS and Axel are claiming their guilds because I have a sneaking suspicion that guild claims work similarly to Vengeance claims in Iji Mafia. (i.e. goading the town to put claims out in the open, then punishing them for it) Given that Iso was the primary reviewer for the game, I don't think that's out of the question.

Right now I'm thinking seperiel is scum, I'm familiar with the people that started that lynch and it seems in line with how they would play town.
If you're thinking that Sepiriel is scum, then why aren't you voting for him?

Also, not loving Hawk's opening post calling half the players who have posted town.
Same for you, as well.
Quote from Rhand »
@Proph: why are you over explaining your Hans town read?
I didn't get the sense that I was over-explaining it at all.
After some thought, I think hans is town. From what I've experienced of his scum games, he tends to be much more cautious and concerned with playing it safe. In here, he's showing a blissful lack of self-awareness and while nearly everything he's saying is /wrong/, I don't really think any of it points to a malicious mindset. I really don't think he'd throw out "I think Proph is scum" then refuse to explain it - that just seems like an incredibly random move for scum to take.
These are a lot of words to explain why you think your page 1 scumread was wrong.
I especially dislike the bolded part. It's unnecessary and lowers the commitment to your read.
You also embellish a lot (the green). Your statement would've been just as clear without all those extra words that give it more needless weight.
The mechanics seem pushed towards having the Guilds be known. Gruul is almost self-outing. Apparently Boros needs to know the other ones. I wanted to know if the Servitude thing was all Orzhov or just me because of the "no reveal" aspect, and that seems like something everyone ought to know ahead of time as well. So if we can be too punished for claiming Guilds that seems wrong. I suppose there could be some downside somewhere, of course. It's always a trade off.

I really want to lynch Proph, see him flip scum and then lynch Sepiriel, Dkings and ZDS because they're his buddies.
Interaction analysis is itching but useless without a flip
Keeping my vote on Sepiriel though because he's also scum and needs to come in and freak out on the hugeness of his wagon before I move my vote to Proph.

I'm voting Sepiriel for an RVS post only while the case on Proph is stronger, so I prefer voting Proph. But I'm not removing my pressure before I've seen a response to it.

It's Day 1. Of course I'm going to use words like "really", "probably", "think", etc. I fully expect to re-evaluate that read some time down the line, when/if the game dictates it. I'm not sure why you're taking that line of attack with me, since I use those kinds of words all the time.
Really? Giving extra votes I've found to be neutral.
Even hidden votes that could potentially be used to speed-lynch someone? Especially when said votes limit the town's ability to conduct wagon analysis, as you yourself pointed out?

"think" isn't an issue. "Really" and "probably" are in that context.
And no you don't use those all the time. Your other posts are a lot cleaner than the one about Hans. Hardly any unnecessary embellishments in them.
You're overselling the townread.
Also, Proph, read your own post on Hans and tell me again that the reason you used all those words I highlighted in green are because "I fully expect to re-evaluate that read some time down the line, when/if the game dictates it."
I think you don't even remember how strong you made the town read on Hans due to all those words you added. You seem to think you made it weaker.
Even hidden votes that could potentially be used to speed-lynch someone? Especially when said votes limit the town's ability to conduct wagon analysis, as you yourself pointed out?
Oh, I thought you were just talking about the standard double voting ability. Yeah, there are some definite anti-town uses for the Gruul's ability, but we'll see.

If he thinks that your interactions point to you both being scum, that is him hunting scum. I don't see a problem with that.
Actually just looked this up again and you're right. I misapplied the "tying people together" concept since Karn simply noted something down; he wasn't forming any premature conclusions.

I didn't have a reason why I used all of those words in green - they just came naturally. Literally, I sat down on my laptop and after mulling a bit, I thought that hans was town because his actions were just so completely off if he was scum. I wanted to show my work and my reasoning as to why I thought hans was town, so that entire paragraph came from a stream-of-consciousness writing.
While my town read on hans is still solid, I found a weakness in my playstyle after Iji where Iso pointed out I was wrong for basically 90% of the game being pigeonholed on a Kamikaze/Deathjoey/Axelrod scumteam and never taking the time to consider other cases. I just dug myself in deeper into the realm of confirmation bias in that game until Night 2. This game I'm trying to be more open and not wait until it's too late to re-evaluate.
So, what did the mass-claim discussion and/or outcome in the previous game look like?
I can see a pretty potentially disastrous issue from NOT having one of the guilds claim in a limited fashion right up front, but haven't the slightest idea what sort of counter-measures may or may not be in place. To the point that if a claim of some kind doesn't go forward, it probably results in two townie deaths.
I'm pretty sure we're of the same guild, though not necessarily the same alignment.
Vote Sepiriel
How many years has it been since we last played? this is completely irrelevant to your vote btw im just curious.
Regarding your vote, not even bothering to '/barn' or anything, just jumped into the wagon without anything to say or add, im expecting people to notice this and bring it out later.
Please explain what you are doing with each of the three portions of this post.
1. Calling Proph scum based on [reasons].
2. Voting Sepiriel because all of the cool kids are doing it.
3. Justifying that I want to be a cool kid too.
This is even worse because here he admits he isnt even bothering to even see the case or what is being presented, he is just simply saying "hey a bunch of people already voted Sep, let me in on the pie".
This is the worst waffle time i have seen in forever.
AI you're not gruul? That's a surprise, I thought you would be from your first post.
As I said earlier a gruul-only claim is reasonable but I don't like the idea of a mass guild claim. If you're a member of another clan with a potentialy hazardous clam ability, you should probably say so.
Protip: everyone in the Gruul clan should hop on the Sepiriel wagon.
And here he is taking the potshot at trying to A) fish for the gruul players, b) to get me speed lynched.
This is horrible because he is basically saying "the scum want to get hose double votes traced and accounted for guys, tell us who you are"
Protip: everyone in the Gruul clan should hop on the Sepiriel wagon.
1. Why do you want to see a speed-lynch on Sepiriel? We're barely out of RVS.
2. Why did you just mindlessly hop on the Sepiriel wagon? I know you're a better player than to cite "because everyone else is doing it".
Wait?! Really?
Im going to go ahead and say he saw easy pickings and is trying to test the waters, gather as much info for the scum as possible, he can always disengage from my wagon saying something like he never meant it or that he just wanted reactions, its so bad its amazing. Either that or this is so next level that regardless of my alignment im better of dead since i clearly can't wrap my head around this level of play.

1. Speed lynches are exciting!
2. Nope, that's pretty much it. I mindlessly hopped on the Sepiriel wagon. In an ideal situation, I'd like a no lynch, but then I saw a wagon forming and couldn't pass up the opportunity to be part of it.
So in an ideal situation he wants a D1 no lynch which is a move that mostly benefits scum, but since he saw a speed wagon forming he could't pass the chance at joining it... you are basically screaming you are scum at this point.
So, anyway, I have something called "Immortal Servitude" which means my alignment isn't revealed when I die. It's pretty crappy. Maybe not as bad as being a Miller, but not good either. I really hate non-reveals.
If you also have that, I would encourage you to go ahead and say it now.

I'm boros.
So as far as you can tell the people voting me are following their town patterns, the people i remind you who started voting me for having a single RVS post, they are following their town pattern because of a reaction to 1 RVS post.

So in an ideal situation he wants a D1 no lynch which is a move that mostly benefits scum, but since he saw a speed wagon forming he could't pass the chance at joining it... you are basically screaming you are scum at this point.
Wait... did... did you just vote the entire Orzhov Council????
Also fun to see him suddenly move away from me with absolutely no reasoning or anything... are you now trying to be a revel or something? maybe a hipster because voting me is so mainstream now?
Why no vote? Your language clearly suggests that you think I'm scum.
Also, I'll put my vote back as soon as I see if voting for the council is possible. Unless the wagon subsides by then, in which case I'll just find a new wagon to join.
@whoever asked why I think a no lynch is optimal - Sorry, I missed it earlier. Basically, I am of the opinion that we are more likely to mislynch on D1, which means that a no lynch would give us more time to sort out our stuff and hunt scum for real.

So, what did the mass-claim discussion and/or outcome in the previous game look like?
I can see a pretty potentially disastrous issue from NOT having one of the guilds claim in a limited fashion right up front, but haven't the slightest idea what sort of counter-measures may or may not be in place. To the point that if a claim of some kind doesn't go forward, it probably results in two townie deaths.
why do you come into the game fretting over mass guild claiming without laying down a vote? doesn't sound like you're interested in a mass claim but more what everyone else thinks about it.
I don't like Proph's #48. Behavioral interaction between 2 players is an important scumhunting tool and proph's whole point doesn't make sense. In fact, I find it troubling that he's more focused on clearing town than finding scum. AI's response to hans is the correct one, proph's just reeks.

Do you believe that there's other reasoning for wanting to vote you for that post? Or do you think all those votes come from scum?
Your whole defense doesn't give me any town vibe. You basically omgus your whole wagon.
"I like that you know im gonna go all ballistic because of the insanity surrounding my wagon, i mean its pretty much BS and if I do get lynched it would be the most idiotic thing ever because it would be because i made 1 RVS post (its hilarious that i have to write RVS so much for this *****)." is not a town response to pressure.
You're upset that you're wagoned over an RVS post, which makes sense as both alignments. But you're overly afraid of getting lynched over this.
That is scum mindset. A townie would know that they can easily recover from an RVS wagon by just being town and finding scum. Scum would worry about getting lynched over one post.
You forgetting to vote Hans adds to the problem: you're too busy with wanting to get these votes off you and forget to do the town thing and vote someone.

Do you genuinly like that or are you being sarcastic?
@Scarbo: you should really click that link Proph posted and read when linking is bad and when it isn't.
@ZDS: What makes you like Sepi's post?
Re: the Boros thing: If we continue doing what we're doing, then Gruul is completely outed (there's no other choice), Orzhov is partly outed (2 have already stepped forward), Boros will be completely outed (we could've kept that under wraps) and Simic can be deducted by POE. Giving scum all the info they need to base NK's on.
If I were scum in this position and I knew what you told me about Boros, I would definately know in what clan to fire the first kills. Did that idea not bother you at all when you outed your guild and its strength?
Re: your Sir Karn vote: what bothers you about him throwing accusations around? Isn't that how people find scum?
1. So the fact that she was talking about the lynch as if it was about to happen doesn't bother you at all?
2. ok
3. I got curious with your "muddying up as many players as he can" statement and Iso'd Karn. I find a grand total of 3 accusations in his posts: /barning me on Sepi; calling out Proph on how he talked to you and another accusation vs Proph.

Guild claim, yes.
I know your guild.
Yup, me too.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
Az isn't Orzhov. He is Gruul.
Azrael is town. Rhand and karn seem town. I'm going to assume proph is town because I work better that way. Hans' responses seem mormal.
Right now I'm thinking seperiel is scum, I'm familiar with the people that started that lynch and it seems in line with how they would play town.
I'm boros.

"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
I'm down for a mass guildclaim. I'm Gruul (and I know it, clap clap).
I'm worried that people like ZDS and Axel are claiming their guilds because I have a sneaking suspicion that guild claims work similarly to Vengeance claims in Iji Mafia. (i.e. goading the town to put claims out in the open, then punishing them for it) Given that Iso was the primary reviewer for the game, I don't think that's out of the question.
---
If you're thinking that Sepiriel is scum, then why aren't you voting for him?
Same for you, as well.
I didn't get the sense that I was over-explaining it at all.
These are a lot of words to explain why you think your page 1 scumread was wrong.
I especially dislike the bolded part. It's unnecessary and lowers the commitment to your read.
You also embellish a lot (the green). Your statement would've been just as clear without all those extra words that give it more needless weight.
Sepiriel needs to post.
Interaction analysis is itching but useless without a flip
Keeping my vote on Sepiriel though because he's also scum and needs to come in and freak out on the hugeness of his wagon before I move my vote to Proph.
Yay for me having fun with mafia again.
What is this? Your lining them up but will then move your vote before lynch?
They hate us cause they ain't us.
Even hidden votes that could potentially be used to speed-lynch someone? Especially when said votes limit the town's ability to conduct wagon analysis, as you yourself pointed out?
If he thinks that your interactions point to you both being scum, that is him hunting scum. I don't see a problem with that.
Any idea why the Ghost Council is voting you?
I also like Rhand.

"think" isn't an issue. "Really" and "probably" are in that context.
And no you don't use those all the time. Your other posts are a lot cleaner than the one about Hans. Hardly any unnecessary embellishments in them.
You're overselling the townread.
I think you don't even remember how strong you made the town read on Hans due to all those words you added. You seem to think you made it weaker.
Oh, I thought you were just talking about the standard double voting ability. Yeah, there are some definite anti-town uses for the Gruul's ability, but we'll see.
Actually just looked this up again and you're right. I misapplied the "tying people together" concept since Karn simply noted something down; he wasn't forming any premature conclusions.
No idea.
And I'm flattered that you took the time to find that quote of mine in the middle of another game. I can't vote you now lol.

2. ok
3. I got curious with your "muddying up as many players as he can" statement and Iso'd Karn. I find a grand total of 3 accusations in his posts: /barning me on Sepi; calling out Proph on how he talked to you and another accusation vs Proph.
I missed this gem. This is a Zindabad scum post.
