KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Biased, and not as familiar with most of the games this year as I'd like, but I thought the all-MTGS scum team in Cross-Town #3 did a pretty good job bringing that one home, Cyan in particular.
Man, it feels like not only did we not have that many memorable games this year, we just...didn't have that many games this year.
Also, Killjoy, it might help to include a link to each game's first page with a hyperlink with the name of the game. And please note that Social Engineering Mafia II was created and run by Seppel and myself.
Anyway, let's do this.
Best Town Performance (Individual):
Nachomamma8 in Iso's Inflammable Mafia. This guy nailed ER on Day 1 and Wheat on Day 2. The town won in 2 Days because of Nacho, and there's really no arguing that.
Best Mafia Performance (Individual):
Sir Karn in Sesame Street Mafia. I replaced in as Nny, had Karn as scum, then out-WIFOMed myself, then went back to my Karn scum read, and was the only person who had that slot pegged. Karn had everyone else fooled and managed to outlast the final lynch. Well-played, Karn.
Honorable mention to my own performance in Mostly Mute Monk Mafia...what a challenge that was!
Best SK Performance (Individual):
Due to the nature of his role in SEMII, I can't fairly award this to LnGr, though EtR should have known something was up when he lost contact with Quebec. I think it would be insulting to give this to anyone but Cyan in Wu-Tang Clan Mafia.
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual):
I can't think of a single person that deserves this award this year.
Best Town Performance (Group):
The town of Celestial Mafia. We mislynched on Day 1, and every single one of Rhand's Vig shots hit town, but between Megiddo and myself, the scum and SK got completely mowed over. Once Seppel flipped, they didn't stand a chance.
Best Mafia Performance (Group):
The mafia of Pope Mafia. We had no Nightkill and everything had to go exactly right for us to win the way we did, but we absolutely did it and it was glorious. We burned out the town's motivation and stayed in there until the very end, with me even dropping the hammer that exploded half of the town's faces into bits. Couldn't have done it without Bolly seeming super-town all game, either.
Worst Town Performance (Group):
Probably Tales of Xymande. I didn't read too much of that one, but from what I understand, the town tore themselves apart.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group):
I've found that oftentimes, I vote for the same game that I give Best Town to for this category. The only hesitation I have to do that here is that we played pretty abysmally in Crosstown #2, between kpaca's lurking + getting Vigged Night 1, Nacho's botched claim + awkard behavior, and my terribad Nacho dichotomous bus/endgame push against Kami. We all just sort of...flopped over and died. I came close to taking it home for the team but couldn't make the final stretch, so I guess let's give this to the mafia of Celestial Mafia. LnGr's claim made no sense, Seppel was right on his scum meta, dC lurked like mad and panicked when I pointed out Yblisa's existence, hans botched his claim and lurked to hell, and Proph mis-timed his LnGr bus and was obvscum from Day 1.
Honorable mention to my team in WitchHunt; dear god, that was awful.
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual):
My claim in Mostly Mute Monk Mafia. I basically floated into endgame through hardcore busing of SCP and Gerrard's Mom + my claim of "Cyan Goo!" (since there's not much else I could say, given the post restrictions). The two modkills at the end helped, but I think that ultimately, me repeating, "Cyan Goo!" over and over eventually convinced SNL that I was, in fact, town.
Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual):
Az's claim of The Joker in Cross-Town #3, Watchmen Mafia. In hindsight, it was painfully obvious that it was a botched claim, as he was The Comedian, but we should have lynched him on Day 1, anyway. Either way, I chuckled when I saw him claim to be a Batman villain in a Watchmen-themed game.
Best Town Player:
Taredas. I feel that Tare is a sharp player - one of our best - and that when he puts his mind to solving the game, god dammit, he will. His strength, IMO, comes from late-game analysis, which makes him a very dangerous player to leave alive in the endgame as town.
Best Mafia Player:
Megiddo. Megiddo's scum game is pretty tricky in that by the time you figure out he's scum, you're usually either dead or about to die, so I definitely think he's stepped up since his first scum game in Magical Girls Mafia.
Most Entertaining Player:
Wheat_Grinder. Sometimes, even I question what the hell Wheat is talking about, but his tirades and tangents almost always amuse me.
Most Improved Player:
DCIII. I feel that he's quickly grown into a force to be reckoned with, both as town and scum, and expect him to be one of our best soon.
Best Mafia Newcomer:
Sir Chris! Technically, he's not new at all, but he's new around these parts, and has made it clear that he's the cream of this year's crop.
Best Mafia Host:
Seppel! Seppel's games have not failed to entertain and he has handled things very reasonably and in a timely manner, from what I have seen. He's earned his way up here.
Most Creative Game:
The Most Curious Thing. While the doll mechanics were very distracting and confusing, Porcelain Waltz gave a new spin on Mafia that I don't think anyone else has tried before.
Best Flavor:
AsianInvasion. I wasn't nearly as inspired by Celestial Mafia's flavor as I was by Seasons's or Ataghan's, so I don't think zindabad really comes in the running this year, unlike previous years where he was clearly the choice. AsianInvasion has consistently provided well-flavored games, and this year, I greatly enjoyed reading what he came up with for Walking Dead Mafia.
Most Interesting Role:
Gotta give this one to the SK in SEMII. I came up with the idea for this role as part of a flavorful Mini, and Seppel wanted to take it and run with it in our SEMII setup - so I let it happen. I would like to re-use this role; I just liked it that much.
That said, Juliet was absolutely hilarious and I have to give Seppel credit where it's due - I always wondered what a MafiaBot would be like!
Best Read:
The Crosstown games were great reads, as was Celestial Mafia (as a prime example of how NOT to play as scum ). If I had to choose one game, though, I would say Crosstown 3.
Best Mafia Game:
Social Engineering Mafia II. Looking through the games this year, no other games were so skill-contingent, down-to-the-ropes, or even as grandiose as the designing put into this game. (Holy *****, we didn't run a single FTQ last year until Rax's game came up!) There's really no other choice, as far as I'm concerned.
Best Player:
Generic. Generic's always been a good player for as long as we've been playing together (about 4 years, now, is it? I think 6 months shorter than I've been playing forum Mafia in general). As town, he hunts scum through unconventional methods that, while strange, generally seem to work for him. He can be duped, but so can all of us, and when he's scum, I seem to be the only person who can read Generic on a regular basis - always by provoking him emotionally. Generic's been prolific, helpful, and in general, a good player. I think he's earned his keep as an MTGS Mafia player this year.

Thanks for the shout out Iso and Gen... I was really happy with 2014.
Started playing in August of 2013 and had a goal of learning the game and having a great 2014. Wound up 7-1 (5-1 Town, 2-0 Scum) this past year without getting lynched or vigged and the only loss being after getting the NK N1!
Player Awards:
Best Town Performance (Individual)
I'm going to go with llamarble in CT2 - after the Vi mislynch D1, he kind of just wore everyone down, was right about the remaining scum team except Iso via role, but then set it up to catch Iso if he was lying about his role. Basically just kind of willed through the game and took it over. I was impressed with his play that game against high quality players
Best Mafia Performance (Individual)
Rhand in Winterfell. Despite Arian name claiming Rhand's role and ITF getting copped by Antny, Rhand thought quickly on his feet throughout, counter claiming Arian, then coming up with a really creative claim to support his (granted, powerful role) and then kind of sailed through the end game despite both Meg and Proph being there at the end and despite Corrik's role clearing people basically Nightly since he (Rhand) had no buddies alive. Thought the amount of adversity he overcame in that game was the greatest I saw this year.
Best SK Performance (Individual)
Cyan deserves a nod for getting as far as he did in Wu-Tang but I think LnGrrrr was the only SK to actually win this past year in SEMII so I'm picking him... mmm, Dagaen won, too, but LnGr was the sole winner and the scope of that game was huge and he had to be able to emulate other player's posting styles to get it done, which was cool.
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual)
Nothing stands out
Best Town Performance (Group)
Either the Town of Celestial mafia where we mislynched Day 1 but then kind of just rallied and mowed down the scum team the rest of the way while making good use of game mechanics, or the Town of Deux Ex where we never lynched Town.
Best Mafia Performance (Group)
CT3 - flawless victory against very good competition in an all MTGS win. I was lucky enough to just get to come in and pick an angle based on the framework that Tare, Cyan, and Az set. I thought Az especially showed his skill this game because he was really rusty early, botched his claim, had both of his teammates at 1 and 2 on his wagon for almost the entirety of the game and yet just kept fighting and fighting and fighting until we were able to swing the result.
Worst Town Performance (Group)
Tales of Xymande - I agree with this one. They got hellbent on lynching through the neighborhood and deferred to mod gaming over strong reads. Meg and I (and Plum once he replaced in) were able to be the vocal leaders and no one really seemed to question why it wasn't going well.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group)
I'm gonna say CastleVania (which I think is listed incorrectly as a mafia win. One mislynch and then everything fell apart. BE claimed Dracula despite having a false claim!
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual)
I thought Rhand's claim (and CC) in Winterfell was money and let him coast the whole game.
Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual)
BE claiming Dracula, for me, was hilarious
Best Town Player
Since it's just 2014, I'd argue my body of work for this one. TWD (Co-MVP), Dinosaurs (MVP), Deus Ex (no mislynches), Bioshock (caught DK and Generic :)), Celestial (on Seppel, dC, Proph and a very strong town performance), Wu-Tang (eh. NK N1). Never lynched, only on the wagon of three Townies when they were lynched all year.
Best Mafia Player
Lot of good options but I think Generic takes it for me. The body of work this year and the comparative success despite that sample size stands out. Basically single-handedly won the clan contest as well despite thinking he'd have more help when joining. Both Rhand and Cyan also should get nods
Most Entertaining Player
Megiddo is the most enjoyable to read, for me when you aren't squaring off with him. Also entertaining as, when modding, he'd send like daily PMs with random thoughts or quips about the game.
Most Improved Player
Antny - thought Antny stepped up his analytic skills, copping ITF, playing a very shifty scum game later on. Would like to see more Antny.
Best Mafia Newcomer
Sir Chris - don't believe he's lost yet on this site (at least in the games I've read) and I've said time and time again, even if I had been alive in Wu-Tang (and Cyan dead as a result/SK shot off the table) I wasn't catching Sir Chris that game.
Mod Awards:
Best Mafia Host
Iso - Also played a big part in SEMII but also hosted several of his own, all of which were run splendidly from what I saw. Also, countless games reviewed and support to those hosts. He's kind of the driving engine of this site right now both with his hosting/effort/and the quality of his play (which, this isn't the place to call it out but it feels weird that I haven't mentioned his play in any of the above).
Most Creative
Xyre - Pope and Inflammible were entirely different experiences and both were run by him.
Best Flavor
Bioshock - iRebel really put a lot into it, I thought
Most Interesting Role
Juliet
Best Read
Dinosaurs Lost in Time - Completely biased but that game was a roller coaster with legit bad blood, humor, epic walls of battle between town and scum and town and town and scum and scum, and took more than a few twists before the end.
Overall:
Best Mafia Game
SEMII - the epic level of effort, the design ingenuity, and the SK win, a little bit of everything and things rarely seen. And Juliet.
Best all rounder
I'm going with Rhand this year. It felt like he kicked off the year doing nothing but winning. I don't think he's ever lost as scum and I saw his sneakiness first hand with that hosting Winterfell, and his town game has been pretty strong as well (and has seen him lynched less often). Plus, when he was a hydra with Generic in Deus Ex - they had pretty good reads and were very town (until a few crazy circumstances got them killed).
These are the games I was in (or co-modded in the case of clan mafia). I haven't read others, so I can base my awards only on these.

Basic - [#81] The Walking Dead Mafia - AsianInvasion
Best Town Performance (Individual)
Nothing really stands out to me right now. Will edit when I recall a good one.
Best Mafia Performance (Individual)
Although I'm really proud of both my Wintefell and Hayate wins, I don't like self-nominating, so I'm going for Bolly in Pope Mafia. No one even suspected he was scum, which was our downfall when the bomb exploded.
Best SK Performance (Individual)
Cyan in wu tang. He worked hard and made a claim that scared scum to kill him, which worked out until he lost the kingmaker. (Also a nod to Generic and myself as hydra in Deus Ex: I'm confident that we would've won the game if we didn't receive that EMP device that particular Night)
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual)
Can't think of any
Best Town Performance (Group)
Star Wars mafia. The scumteam got bulldozed there.
Best Mafia Performance (Group)
Crosstown 3 was a very strong scum performance and deserves this win without a doubt. Nod to Marvel Madness 2. Generic did much of the work on his own, but we managed to survive with the two of us for an early finish, which could've ended really badly.
Worst Town Performance (Group)
I would like to say Deus Ex because it was the SK that actually pulled the town to victory there. But town did win, so probably not a good choice for this award.
I'm gonna pick Llamas with hats. I still don't understand how we managed to lose that one.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group)
Star Wars Mafia team. Although I promised Generic not to talk about that game again
Rhandzilla... Town in Deus Ex... No guarantee we'd have won if you hadn't been killed, but I'm not sure why you'd put that up for the worst. Neutral seeker, scum, scum lynched each day without a mislynch... Would have probably been difficult for you all to keep hidden long game with that many town alive and only your kills going through.

Nachomamma8 in Iso's Inflammable Mafia. This guy nailed ER on Day 1 and Wheat on Day 2. The town won in 2 Days because of Nacho, and there's really no arguing that.
Wheat was already lynched Day 1 because I literally would not shut up about it in every post I made. Not hard to nail a dead guy
I will edit my choices into this post soon™

Best Mafia Game Best all rounder: Sir Chris
I don't remember enough games accurately to fill in everything without reading back, and I don't want to make time to go read past games.
I only played in a couple of games, so I can only really base my choices off of those games.
Best Town Performance (Individual) - Hunger in Archer Mafia. I was scum in this game, so I knew Hunger was town, but he was so strongly and obviously town that never once did I consider even the possibility of trying to get him mislynched. And that takes a considerably pro-town performance.
Best Mafia Performance (Individual) - Sir Chris, Wu Tang Clan Mafia. Had I not chosen to SK kill him, I am fairly certain that he would have won the game as mafia here. In fact, I only did kill him because I thought he was town and wanted to get rid of him.
Best SK Performance (Individual) - This feels tacky, but..Cyan for Wu Tang Clan Mafia. I survived until a kingmaker endgame, and only lost due to a really short-sighted townie.
Best Mafia Performance (Group) - Cross Town Mafia 3 - This is a no-brainer to me. The scum team won flawlessly, and none of us were ever under meaningful suspicion, other than 2 of us trying to bus the other.
Best Mafia Newcomer - Sir Chris - No question about this one. Granted he has plenty of experience on other sites, but adjusting to a completely new site is never easy, and he has done so remarkably.

Not as easy as I'd like, partially due to not paying attention to several games and partially due to a lack of good games this year.
Best Town Performance (Individual) - Taredas in WitchHunt. This is a close one and I'm still waffling about it, because in my opinion there are two town performances that were head-and-shoulders above the rest this year, each led by a strong performance from a specific townie (Celestial led by Iso and WitchHunt led by myself), and I'm not sure which of myself/Iso got more from the rest of their town. Iso in Celestial nailed down either three or four scum sometime around D2, IIRC; I nailed KoolKoal to a wall D1 in WitchHunt and then PoE'd out a town autowin by D3 (no-reveal open setup) with alignments and roles solved, while dodging a NK until after massclaim as the Cop.
Honorable Mention - Iso in Celestial
Best Mafia Performance (Individual) - Cyan in Archer Mafia. Most of the Archer team was useless and got itself lynched early, but Cyan was able to ride a combination of a good claim and solid play to pull victory from the jaws of defeat.
Honorable Mention - Sir Chris in Wu-Tang Clan, Generic in Wu-Tang Clan, Cyan in Cross-Town 3, Azrael in Cross-Town 3
Best SK Performance (Individual) - Cyan in Wu-Tang. Yes, LnGrrrR won SEMII as Lima, but he had the advantage of a broken SK that was never going to be caught - Cyan had to do it the old-fashioned way, and he still pulled himself to Kingmaker endgame.
Honorable Mention - LnGrrrR, SEMII
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual) - Dagaen in Return to Ravnica. I count Hitman as non-SK neutral, and Dagaen was the only such neutral to fulfill their win condition this year, so he wins by default.
Honorable Mention - None
Best Town Performance (Group) - Celestial Mafia for reasons explained above.
Honorable Mention - WitchHunt
Best Mafia Performance (Group) - Cross-Town 3. This was a nominally invitational game with a better-than-average playerbase, and two Mafiosos elected to attempt to bus the third D1. But Az managed to pull through, and the Mafia proceeded to win flawlessly with every power role dead by the start of D3 (partially luck, partially successfully quickhammering a player we correctly read power under cloak of deadline). I could also see Xymande here, as it was another flawless scum win, but as I understand it that game had considerably worse townplay... speaking of which...
Honorable Mention - Xymande
Worst Town Performance (Group) - Tales of Xymande. I wasn't really paying attention to this game, but I understand the town completely imploded in setupgaming and paranoia which let the scum pull out the perfect win.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group) - Star Wars. Mafia had the misfortune of having a complete VI and multiple flakers and their best player (Generic) got copped, and town won in a landslide.
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual) - Cyan in Archer. That claim was half of the reason he pulled out that game.
Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual)- Megiddo in Futurama? Didn't see the claim myself, but I'm told it was hilarious.
Best Town Player - Iso. Usually I would give this to DCIII, but in the fine tradition of MVP voters everywhere I'm reluctant to give Best Town and Best Overall player to the same player and am instead recognizing the second-best townie. That's either myself or Iso, IMO, and I had an absolute clunker in Porcelain Waltz and I'm reluctant to self-nominate so...
Honorable Mention - DCIII, Taredas, Cantripmancer
Best Mafia Player - Generic. This is a classic peak-versus-body of work debate between Generic and Cyan, IMO - Cyan had two exceptional Mafia games, but Generic had five of the best ten scum games of the year. The deciding factor here is that Cyan won last year and in fine MVP voter tradition I'm reluctant to choose the same player twice so...
Honorable Mention - Cyan
Most Entertaining Player - SEM-Juliet. It was either this or Most Improved, and DCIII's got the latter locked up so...
Honorable Mention - None
Most Improved Player - DCIII. In the course of the last year he developed into a true Tier 1 player (strong analyst who's not screamingly obvious as scum).
Best Mafia Newcomer - Sir Chris. He'd have been a strong candidate last year, let alone this year (with only a few new players and fewer strong ones), and should win in a landslide.
Best Overall Player - DCIII. Forget any talk about becoming a strong player - he's already a Tier 1 player, and the only one left on the site with the *possible* exception of a fully derusted Azrael. Very strong town analyst, hard to catch as scum, there's nothing not to like here.
Mod Awards:
Best Mafia Host - Seppel. Seppel hasn't been spectacularly good this year, but SEMII was probably still the best-moderated game of the year so...
Honorable Mention - Prophylaxis
Most Creative - Seppel. There's only been two Specialties/FTQs truly worthy of the name this year (SEMII, Celestial) and I felt SEMII was more creative than Celestial.
Honorable Mention - Zionite
Best Flavor - JeY k. Cross-Town 2 had some of the best and most fitting flavor of the year, and that was all JeY.
Honorable Mention - zindabad
Most Interesting Role - SEM-Juliet in SEMII. Do I really need to say anything more?
Best Read - Cross-Town 3. A somewhat exclusive cast featuring explosive personalities, excellent scum play, and you get to watch the rise and fall of the D1 Az wagon? What's not to like?
Honorable Mention - None.
Best Mafia Game - Social Engineering Mafia II. This is a combination of setup and play, IMO, and from that standpoint SEMII wins this hands-down.
2011: Best Mafia Performance (Individual) - Best Newcomer

Taredas crushed my hopes of winning best Mafia Player 2 years in a row. First time for everything right?
Welcome to the tyranny of MVP voting!
(You might still win, if we get some more votes [or if I change my mind] - choosing Mafia Awards based on just four votes feels a little light to me? Or maybe not anymore, see below...)
I've never been nominated for best townie before. I am pleased.
Honestly, right now I'm pretty sure you're one of the five best active town players on site, straight up? Most of the old guard has left over the last year and a half or so due to RL and probably Curse (I'm counting desCoures here, since he hasn't been seen since CT3 and apparently missed his turn in the Specialty queue). The only reasonably active players I'd call straight-out better at playing town right now are DCIII, Az, maybe Axel, and maybe myself? (Who are "nomination for Best Player and I don't want to nominate him for everything", "didn't play a town game this year", "didn't play a game that finished this year and is only in the active list because Iji", and "self-nomination when I'm ruling out DCIII to nominate the second-best town player my foot" respectively.) Maybe Cantripmancer, but he has more Cassandra issues than you; maybe Hunger who I haven't seen enough of; maybe Tanarin, who is a decent analyst but also a very easy lynch, maybe Proph when he actually draws town with time.
---
(Mind you... do we even have thirty active players on site right now? You/Plowshares/TCM/Killjoy/Huntzilla/Sepiriel/KA/Rodemy?/Cythare/Seppel/Bur/Puddle Jumper?/ITF?/Tanarin?/Karn/hans/Wheat/g_d/Wildfire/LnGrrrR/Hunger/Sir Chris/dkingsland/emo/Cyan/Deathjoey?, question marks are players who may or may not be back for any duration. Axel/Zionite/Az/AE are definitely in the sometimes pool, I'm not sure whether I'm in the active list or the sometimes pool at the moment. Rhand plays but is V/LA awfully often, Antny has been V/LA a bit. TMCT is probably too busy to play right now, Voxx definitely is, Hawk had his phone explode, CitricBase may have gone back to his home sites, Scarbo's been MIA since Wu-Tang, Arian just lost his job, Generic's having RL issues, Void I think is having RL issues, Cantrip almost certainly is, godot flaked I think, fulcrum is MIA and probably went home. HookerPunch, Prophylaxis, and DCIII are on hiatus; so is Megiddo I think?
That's 22 definitely active players (counting myself for now), plus four "are they actually sticking around?" types, plus four players who will join the occasional game and two who play but may be overtaxing themselves. Four hiatus players I know of (Proph might be better classed in the occasional game pool, and I'm not sure HP will play on MTGS again), plus 11 people who are too busy in RL to play, of whom I think only one or two are safe bets to come back and play in the near future.
That's pretty startling really - I'm not sure we have to playerbase to support more than two simultaneous larges anymore, and will have trouble running even 18p let alone 20 unless some of the occasional game types are interested? (We're starting to dig really deep on the League, for what it's worth.) Which would be sad, and not just because I think that kind of playerbase decline may preclude running Mind Screw Salvation here.
I definitely didn't play or read enough in 2014 to vote here, but Tar's votes look spot on to me from what I did. I'll take a look to see if there are any ties I feel educated enough to break.
Quote from Cyan »
Taredas crushed my hopes of winning best Mafia Player 2 years in a row. First time for everything right?
Welcome to the tyranny of MVP voting!
(You might still win, if we get some more votes [or if I change my mind] - choosing Mafia Awards based on just four votes feels a little light to me? Or maybe not anymore, see below...)
I am pretty sure you just made up this whole 'don't want the same guy to win twice in a row' concept, but it will probably just catch on like wildfire. And THEN it will be called 'The MVP Curse'. For now I'm just going to hold out hope that people look at Archer and CT3 and are dazzled by me.

I'm not completely dead, just. Mostly dead.
Decent chance you see me in a normal within a few months. I miss mafia.
Like Cyan, I didn't play in a ton of games so most of my voting will be based on what I did play in as I think I only spectated one game.
Player Awards:
Iso in Celestial - He nailed down the team pretty early, made good pushes, used his role well, etc.
Sir Chris in Wu-Tang Clan - I said it in the spec chat of that game, but Chris's play was so Town that I had pretty much conceded the victory to mafia if he was on the team.
Cyan in Wu-Tang Clan - Oh so nearly pulled off the win.
Iso's Inflammable - Scum didn't know who each other were so there were no connections to be drawn. No misslynches. Basically nailed two SKs in a row without any town PR.
Honorable mention to Star Wars where there were also no misslynches, but I feel it was more a result of scum dropping the ball and particularly outstanding town play.
Marvel Madness 2 - Granted, they were going up a relatively inexperienced town (Wildfire, myself, someone else that only played a game or two here), but Generic and Rhand did a pretty good job of keeping us guessing just enough in the endgame to never have a clear view of the game state.
Disclaimer: I still hold that Rhand's role in that game was a bit OP
Return to Ravnica - It wasn't terrible from top to bottom, but I feel like the game was solved and some pretty obvious scum tells were missed that led to the loss. It doesn't make sense to me how Sir Karn wasn't obvscum.
Star Wars - Town just plowed through the scum team due to some pretty bad play.
Cyan in Archer - Doc claim with no cc is tough to beat. Behaviorally I had Cyan pegged as scum pretty much the whole game, but I refused to lynch him with his doc claim. Single-handedly won the game for mafia IMO.
DCIII - Good analysis and great pro-town behavior and level-headedness makes him an asset to finding scum as well as a very difficult misslynch.
Honorable Mention to dkingsland. His analysis is also very strong and just needs a bit more pull to get town to really listen to him and follow his lead to some wins.
Generic - I think just based on shear number of mafia wins and wins in which he finished the game for the mafia team.
Seppel - Has made me lol on multiple occasions. Unorthodox style is always fun, though sometimes infuriating.
Sir Chris - Yep.
Mod Awards:
Scarbo in Archer - Flavor was thought out, stayed on top of vote counts and prods, interesting role interactions.
Honorable Mention to Megiddo in RtR for a well maintained game.
Zindabad in Celestial - While it wasn't perfect, this was easily the most complex game with lots of synergy and role interaction. Did you see Megiddo's spreadsheet?
Overall:
Iso - Good analysis, not afraid to take risks, good use of PRs, difficult to detect scum game, draws Night actions like a magnet. Just an all around good player IMO.
Best Town Performance (Individual) - Iso in Celestial Mafia? He completely demolished the scum team from D2 onwards and outside of a few spats with Megiddo basically pinned the scum team to the wall.
Best Mafia Performance (Individual) - Cyan in Archer Mafia. He salvaged a really bad scumteam and pulled some gambits and called it a win.
Best SK Performance (Individual) - Cyan in Wu Tang Clan Mafia. Absolutely amazing performance.
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual) - Dagaen in Return to Ravnica. Again, only real candidate for this, and Dagaen played it cleanly.
Best Town Performance (Group) - Star Wars. The town in that game made a complete embarrassment of the scumteam.
Best Mafia Performance (Group) - Crosstown Mafia 3. I would be very scared to play against a scumteam of their caliber, and they kept stringing mislynches and nabbing all power roles by N2. Lights-out performance.
Worst Town Performance (Group) - Xymande. The best players out of the group drew scum roles and what was left was a town full of perennial mislynch candidates and newbs.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group) - Star Wars. Mafia were completely outplayed.
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual) - Cyan in Archer. His claim turned a near-guaranteed loss into a win.
Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual) - Megiddo in Futurama, no contest. http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/outside-magic/mafia/520088-futurama-the-hostile-takeover-game-over-mafia-win?page=23#c560
Best Town Player - DCIII. Most consistent town player this year. He has won all of his games.
Best Mafia Player - Cyan. Two lights out performances in Cross-Town and Archer.
Most Entertaining Player - Sir Chris. His whimsical approach to the game always cracks me up. Bestposts?
Most Improved Player - DCIII. See the progression from TMNT, Futurama, The Walking Dead. Improved extremely fast and is now one of the best players on the site.
Best Mafia Newcomer - Sir Chris. As quoted from his judge review, "frankly, if this game is typical of your scumgame I think you're probably one of the five best scum players on site already"
Best Overall - DCIII. Terrifying town and scum game. He should be the landslide victor.
Mod Awards:
Best Mafia Host - Megiddo
Most Creative - Social Engineering Mafia II
Best Flavor - Winterfell. I had catharsis reading the final flavor scene, and I've never done anything Game of Thrones-related before playing in DCIII's game.
Most Interesting Role - SEM-Juliet
Best Read - Cross-Town 3 was both entertaining and provides examples of high-level scum play. Azrael's posts are always fun to read.

That's a lot of Chris' splattered about on this here topic. I didn't feel qualified to vote as I have only played a handful of games and didn't pay attention to much outside of them, but thanks for all of the praise.
My favorite though is I was called whimsical. I like that word.

I don't like deciding lol. That makes someone feel bad because I vote the other.
I actually think Generic was the overall best player last year looking at the games I was in, but that won't help breaking any ties.
I can't remember scumgames from either DCIII nor Iso. Have we been in any together where you were scum guys?
I think Pleasantville? But I replaced into the awful position Shockwave left me in, so I don't really want to count that. I was also scum in Crosstown 2, which was almost a scum victory (we made one incorrect kill, which shot us in the foot), and WitchHunt, where I incorrectly guessed the Cop all game long and lost for it + being too busy IRL all game long/laptop issues.
I do think I had great performances in Mostly Mute Monk Mafia, and in Pope Mafia, though.

Hats off to all of the winners. I'm disappointed that I didn't win MPOTY, but I'm not disappointed that Sir Chris won 'Best Individual Mafia'. His play in Wu Tang was just..sublime and inspired.
That having been said, I hope that no one gives another 'acceptance speech' for a mafia award. Ever. I'm not sure it's possible to be any tackier(re: mafia). Can't we at least pretend to have a little dignity and decorum?

I guess I have something to add to my sig now. Thank you for the kind words about my Wu-Tang performance, Cyan. I take an extra measure of pride about my scum game. I remember telling Karn that I was so going to die to you (the SK, I didn't know it was you obviously) because I was too town. First world problems am I right? It's nice being thought of. When I skimmed the topic I thought I was just going to win newcomer, so this was a nice surprise.

Honorable mention to my own performance in Mostly Mute Monk Mafia...what a challenge that was!
Honorable mention to my team in WitchHunt; dear god, that was awful.
That said, Juliet was absolutely hilarious and I have to give Seppel credit where it's due - I always wondered what a MafiaBot would be like!

Best Mafia Performance (Individual): Sir Chris in Wu-Tang Clan Mafia (Despite the team losing, Sir Chris has an immaculate performance. And he only died because the SK shot him for being the most town player.)
Best SK Performance (Individual)
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual)
Best Town Performance (Group): Iso's Inflammable Mafia (Perfect performance. No mislynches in a 10-2 situation is MUCH more than just random chance.)

Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual): Sir Karn in RtR (I had a hell of a laugh - and I think some spectators did as well. Also, the fact that I pulled it off and won I think deserves a nomination, even if it's a little off to nominate one's self.)

I don't remember enough games accurately to fill in everything without reading back, and I don't want to make time to go read past games.

(You might still win, if we get some more votes [or if I change my mind] - choosing Mafia Awards based on just four votes feels a little light to me? Or maybe not anymore, see below...)
---
Honestly, right now I'm pretty sure you're one of the five best active town players on site, straight up?
It is too late for the pebbles to vote."
And you can keep me off your "safe bet to come back and play in the near future" list, unfortunately
Personal issues have always made Mafia difficult for me, so I'm at a point at which I'd rather not try anymore.
I'm always dazzled by you, honeycheeks.
I'm not completely dead, just. Mostly dead.
Decent chance you see me in a normal within a few months. I miss mafia.
Player Awards:
Honorable mention to Star Wars where there were also no misslynches, but I feel it was more a result of scum dropping the ball and particularly outstanding town play.
Disclaimer: I still hold that Rhand's role in that game was a bit OP
Honorable Mention to dkingsland. His analysis is also very strong and just needs a bit more pull to get town to really listen to him and follow his lead to some wins.
Mod Awards:
Honorable Mention to Megiddo in RtR for a well maintained game.
Overall:
Town Win % = 75%
Mafia Win % = 75%
Overall Win % = 75%

Best posts?
Don't wait for it tho, don't have time for it.

I actually think Generic was the overall best player last year looking at the games I was in, but that won't help breaking any ties.
I can't remember scumgames from either DCIII nor Iso. Have we been in any together where you were scum guys?
I do think I had great performances in Mostly Mute Monk Mafia, and in Pope Mafia, though.

@Gen: I'm fine with you hosting next year, provided whoever is our Secretary at the time is fine with that.

In that case, we'll call it a tie. Congrats, DCIII!

That having been said, I hope that no one gives another 'acceptance speech' for a mafia award. Ever. I'm not sure it's possible to be any tackier(re: mafia). Can't we at least pretend to have a little dignity and decorum?
