Well played guys! DCIII, you played really well and I was convinced you were town almost all of the game. Mainly because of your posting style resembled that of STMUIII (where we were Mason partners).
Seppel, thanks for letting Hunger get lynched. It really won us the game.
Others: Thanks for the game. It was a pleasure to play with you all, I hope we'll get to play again in future.

Also modgaming Bur setups is kind of treading down a dark path
I was glad that I correctly read Seppel right off the bat. I think my Paradigm Shift near the end of Day 1 regarding my Hunger and DCIII scum reads were what got me killed early, coupled with the fact that I was a prominent voice on Day 1. Going back and forth with ika was infuriating and jfc people stop OMGUSing when you're town. It makes you play badly when you do. Just because I put you on tilt doesn't mean I'm scum - it means I'm trying to read you. But holy ***** we won. I can't say I expected that.

Hunger was textbook scum. I mean super textbook. It probably was much easier to pick up in a reread, but he hit every scum beat.
DCIII played great through Day 3, but claiming a protective role was ultimately his downfall. Once I reread when the void slot flipped town it was obvious he was likely to be scum. Then his reaction to my vote was really bad.
Seppel honestly probably played the best of anyone in this game. I was only able to catch him through PoE and analyzing the vote counts. I likely would not have found him at ll if Rhand had not posted a vote count analysis I really didn't like and I reread the game after Day 3. His opportunistic no lynch and the n the obvious plan to paint me as scum confirmed his alignment to me.
It was a very close game, and the town played miserable. A tough loss for the scum.

This was my first scum game on this site and first in over a year. For the sake of trying to improve, mind giving me some pointers?
i may not be emo but heres what i saw that pinged me real fast:
1)"ive been busy so i will get to it later"
-this is one of my very first "im going to look into you" things is when scums go "busy post later" its an easy way to try to avoid posting contents. While all players do it to an extent, to me its /how/ you went about doing it. You would be "i got work but heres a wall post"
2)your post in general
-when i read your post they felt very empty and contentless. while this can be seen by some your post to me felt very "heres contents now leave me"
-even when you were going "i need to interact with ika" it felt like you were trying to force yourself to say stuff. While i can understand people usning interactions to sort people it was really a negative point on /how/ you were doing it. If you tried to be more natual with it it would be better IMO
3) aligned/unaligned
-ok this is what ive seen so many times day 1
-if X is scum Y is town, or X and Y cant be scum together are things that just ping me all over the place. it was really a thing that to me is an easy way to make yourself look busy
i could think of more if i went back thought the game but i do think you do have an ok scum game. However when it comes to interactions, its kinda where you need to push a bit more. While my paranoia did take a good hit on me about cirtus, you did kinda slip to me that you were townreading him by other means then natal progression
At the end of the day on my end, my claim hosed me. Underrated in this game was Voids slow roll of his claim as I thought no one was behind me when I claimed. Hoped to pick off any remaining protective roles hopefully based on class claims that hadn't found their role yet.
The other thing I was considering was basically a role cop of dead players who hasn't found their grims ... Shoulda gone with that, especially in light of seps claim.
Also could have checked in and tied up the vote for a no lynch on Day 2 to save hunger. His "accidental" lynch was the single biggest blow for us.
Frustrating to have so many folks Town read you but to back yourself into a corner with your claim. When Bur vigged kj I thought that let us back in the game but I couldn't get a Rhand or emo lynch to take after the way they zeroed in on Hunger.
I think the bigger problem for the scum team was luck of the draw on who pulled which roles, not that all the roles were fairly townie.
Both EP's and ika's roles were pretty alignment-neutral, but both players were uber-town in their play.
Void and CitricBase were not very town at all, but drew the primary protective and investigative roles. The Antny/Killjoy slot was another one that didn't have very townie play overall, but the role claim was pretty likely to be town.
KamikazeArchon actually had a fairly scum-sided role, but he was lynched D1 and never found it.
IMHO, I think there were two minor problems with the setup and one large one:
1. I should have worded one of the Grimoire hints differently. As Iso pointed out to me after failing to find his Grimoire on D1, the description of the Sanctum matches the hint of "located in an area where the sounds of rushing water can be heard nearby" word for word.
2. The location-searching setup was too major of a focus of the game, and was a huge distraction on D1 & D2. I, for one, like the use of locations and items and will use them again in future setups, but never again to the point of being the key mechanic of the game.
3. The scum team, in retrospect, was probably underpowered. DCIII's role originally moved Grimoires from one location to another, but Megiddo and I decided that would have bordered on bastard modding due to the hint system. In addition, both DCIII's and Hunger's roles became exponentially less useful each day that they didn't find them (and DCIII didn't find his until D3). One role like that in this setup is fine, but two was too much. I probably should have given the scum team a single "team" ability that they had from the start (ideally Hunger's modified rolecop role) and created another role for his character.
Town also grabbed their grims all so early so that was a challenge to deal with, but if I'd been right about being the last to have a role unlocked, I think it would have been a good one.

I forget exactly what the whiff Iso, me, and a few others caught on your first post on the game but there was an early warning sign.
D1 you spent a lot of time making a push without engaging the target and leaving your options only. It's better to stick to your convictions as town or scum and push for the person you feel is scummiest at any given moment. I also have only seen scum eager to pat themselves on the back. It's normally dragged out at the end of the game when PoE is in effect and literally anything to help your case is the right move.
D2 your defense of Seppel was fine, but a long winded defense ending in OMGUS is something scum want to do because they are eager to have a reason to vote someone with built in justification. Then you took it through the basic scum stages of grief: anger, buddying (DCIII), bargaining (ultimately with me), and then desperately flailing (voting me at the end of the day). DCIII basically did all of those in quick succession the day before he was lynched.
I was able to isolate your votes as suspicious immediately, and then the case was sealed quickly when reading your posts. I was 100% honest in not paying much attention to anyone else Day 1.
Ika feels genuine to me. Not really seeing a scum motivation in his side of the back and forth with Iso. I'm not sure about the unforced soft-claim though, seems really dumb to do as town, but I suppose I can see the line of thought there with the frustration.
Not sure how I feel about Iso. His questions have felt like he is trying to figure out the game, but stuff like apologizing to Ika for pushing him too much and the "scum" claim in RVS are weird. Feels like he could be trying too hard to be obvtown, which makes it seem forced and less genuine to me.
I agree with Rhand on Kam's 91, and I also think it feels a bit constructed. "We need to get interaction from everyone else." is just such an obvious thing to say.
The way Void followed Iso onto Ika and Iso pushing Void for his read of him makes me think that Void and Iso are at least not scum together.
The way Iso and Bur towncleared each other off basically nothing makes me think they are at least not scum together.
I think town should be sharing info about locations to unlock their roles ASAP. Sure, it helps narrow it down for scum too, but a vanilla town can't hold scum accountable. We need to unlock our protective/investigative roles as early as we can or scum can just fire away at the most towny people without worry.
On that note, don't waste your time at City Walls, there is nothing there.
This was Hunger's first post and it set me on to him. When I was asked for an explanation, this was my response and probably the biggest thing or two about the post that made me go " ".

How does one force being obvtown, exactly? Isn't a player obvtown of their own merits, rather than by forcing it? How do you explain this disconnect?

I don't think Bur stated what you think he stated. Also, it wasn't "basically nothing".
Also, the word "constructed" was a poor choice in your first post, I think, and I believe your line about "vanilla town can't hold scum accountable" just seemed really weird to me.
