He says "even Cythare?" to HP when HP says a lot of players other than Wildfire are town, indicating a pretty strong read on Cythare but his rationale on his vote on Cythare - Here is basically saying that his two posts are forced (which I didn't agree with) and then that he stopped talking when Meg called him out... but all of that dialogue happened same day (not Day). Cythare contested both Meg and AI on their pressure of him at 2:00 that day and was back again at 8:00... AI accuses him of "basically stopping talking" for six hours?
It's not about the timeframe, it's the fact that Cythare went from talking a fair bit to responding with brief one-liners. Cythare himself acknowledged this behavior shift due to Meg's accusation style not leaving room for discussion.
I acknowledged the behavior shift of decreasing my posting rate, since what you said was:
After Meg calls you out you basically stop talking.
My post quality was unrelated, and Megiddo never followed up on my "you've never played like this before". "Your point?" was an attempt to engage him on his previous statement, but it fell by the wayside. My response to this was:
Geesh being accused of being insincere when being sincere is a real bummer. I unvoted Wildfire because I like the way he responded to a vote from me, he didn't appear too jittery about it and had that same vibe from the last game.
I am a bit weird as town, although to be very fair I am a bit weird as scum as well in all likelyhood. For example I do not like to make assumptions until I have to. So no matter what my role is or is not, I would not see it and go 'this whole game is very complex' off the top because that could lead to problems. Assumptions tend to end badly usually, so I try my best to not make them in the early going without several points of reference. I'd apologize for coming off as insincere, but then I'd actually be insincere because I think you guys are just being silly.
Also Seppel is not nicknamed 'special' in my head and that's unlikely to change.
Although as I noted last game when I was pressured I don't mind the pressure. Prefer it, if anything. Mafia becomes fun when it is your head on the line. Now it is just a matter of if I am dealing with good or bad players who are willing to actually engage in conversation. Which I am sure you will twist to mean I am saying only bad players will remain voting on me, but is not what I mean. If we, over a long period of time, engage in a conversation I am sure we can find scum together even if you do end up killing me. Let's just try to actually do that though and not be like special
so... What is this addressing and to whom is it addressed?
The italicized part above bothers me about that post. It's like he's subtly buddying those players while also kind of pushing them forward as the ones who suspect Wildfire.
You're reading way too much into my wording choices.
what is the correct amount of reading into peoples wording choices?
Seems hopelessly bold for a scum to broach the subject, especially if the scum knows more about specialty game regulations than I do.
Continue talking about things that scum do, please.
Unvote
I tend to use pretty basic scum tactical thinking early on until I get a real feel for people, and I just don't think scum like to put themselves in such a harsh spotlight more times than not. I like you, rezombied, you have wit.
Geesh being accused of being insincere when being sincere is a real bummer. I unvoted Wildfire because I like the way he responded to a vote from me, he didn't appear too jittery about it and had that same vibe from the last game.

Zombied: I assume you're voting FOR Alway? Why?
Also, zombied: Why kpaca?
because it's good.
dumb question, try again.
Because what is good? Obviously this wasn't an RVS vote or you would have just said that. Therefore you had a reason for voting someone before they posted at all. Obviously it wasn't to bait reactions because you immediately revoted. So I'll ask again: Why kpaca?
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Ok I am back. I still want to kill myself, but what can we do.
A symptom of my suicidal computer use, in which I compare posting to castrating myself, is that you don't get quotes, just post numbers. If you have a problem with this I refer you to my signature.
244: @LnGrrrR: You won't like my answer, but I mostly just felt like saying that despite it clearly not being true. Watch out for people who try and call me scum for this, btw, because it's quite opportunistic of them.
255: @Wildfire: I believe this was already answered by somebody else (Cythare a few posts down), but no, I literally straight up said a thing that was not true. It's not correct to say that I lied, per se, but I was definitely bull*****ting.
Please show the class what makes my behavior scummy. I am clearly trying to generate discussion. I am also clearly not voting. Why? Because I don't want to. Your argument could maaaybe work if I weren't being so obvious and up-front about the fact that I'm not voting. But I am doing that, so your argument doesn't work.
Voting or not voting has nothing to do with anything.
Maybe not. The post you agreed with Cythare on (this one) was literally 100% about voting, so my natural assumption there is that you were similarly interested in my voting patterns.
Quote from Rhand »
Furthermore, why does steering the discussion make me scum, again? Please tell me exactly what my goal is. Who benefits from my "steering?" Have I done this in the past as scum? Have I done it in the past as town?
How should I know what your goal is? If you're scum, it's probably getting town to look bad and Megiddo to look good?
Bad answer. You can't make an accusation like this without substantiating it.
When you say "getting town to look bad," please tell me exactly which townies I am trying to make look bad. You can't generalize, since if you are, "the town" in this context is by definition the entire playerbase, and there's no way I can make the entire playerbase look bad. Also if you seriously think my play this game, or in any game, has been about making myself look good, I recommend you read more of my games before spouting off.
Quote from Rhand »
On a more base level, what differentiates what you're calling "steering" from what I will tell you is scumhunting? Cite posts.
I can't do this on the phone and a shoddy wifi connection.
But it's also not my point. The megiddo that I am used to doesn't hunt much Day 1. You're not laid back enough. And too involved.
If this is another town face of yours, then I hope you'll use it more often.
It's different enough from what I've seen from you to make me wary.
If you haven't gathered from my preamble to this post, my internet situation is literally killing me. Every time I turn on a computer I lose a year from my life expectancy. So I have no sympathy for you. If you can do the post I'm replying to, which required changing quote formatting ostensibly on mobile, you can cite some damn posts. This applies to the previous connection.
Also, I'm not sure how it's not your point:
Quote from Rhand »
You seem far too inquisitive for a Day 1. You're steering town a lot more than I am used to seeing from you D1.
Like. Yeah. Not buying that it wasn't your point, and so you now have the burden of proving your argument. You are not allowed to weasel out from under me like that.
And yeah this is obviously another town face of mine. I try to play differently every game (and as others have already mentioned, I change things up within the same game as well) so that when I happen to roll scum I don't get immediately caught. But! And this is important; this game has the following players in it:
Me
HookerPunch*
Iso
Sir Karn
Seppel
kpaca
Six players who are all known for being disengaged and flippant in their play. 6/21 is too many, and it will make the game absolutely miserable for me and for everybody else if we all have to slog through a game's worth of that ***** (see also any game on mafiascum /burn). So I'm compensating by trying to be more engaged from D1. Obviously I went a little too far in the wrong direction so far but after taking a day's break I'm ready to actually participate properly. Taking one for the team.
As I said in Amistarian III, my playstyle is not determined by alignment but rather by external factors such as the size of the game and the playerlist, or as I just said by conscious decisions to try new things and branch out. You're seeing that here.
*I think Hooker is like this but I don't really know. From what I've seen so far this game I'm happy to put him in this list.
Quote from Rhand »
After you realize that you have no argument, go do something more useful, like actually scumhunt. I don't want to waste any more of my time fending off accusations from people who don't know how I play.
THis is a lousy snipe to make me look bad while at he same time acknowledging that I am town with the scumhunt comment.
Still happy where my vote is.

Fair warning: Any post of yours that continues to assert that I am scum but that does not provide the posts cited and evidence I requested to support your argument re: steering the game will be disregarded. If you continue to claim that this isn't your argument, then all you have is meta... and that's nothing.
Anyway, now that we're done with that, moving on.
266: @Cythare: but actually I said earlier that I don't care where we go and I stand by that statement. The only update to this so far is that after reading Arian's analysis, I would prefer Ruchperion Today.
268: +scum for Proph for going V/LA. I'm serious about this.
275: I don't know what to make of Chris. Monitoring this one. I forget if Wildfire did the thing I asked him to. I feel like he did part of it but didn't finish. I'll check up on that later.
278: @Seppel: He did that earlier in the game too somewhere.
285: @DCIII: Monitoring the responses to this as well. No comment on the case itself. Tangent: I forget how to catch you as scum. I'll look into that later too. Oh, a question, how exactly did Killjoy scumslip? I know what he said, I just want to know why you think it is so important. Also pls tell me your opinion on me. Though if you want to wait for Proph that's ok too. I still want him to tell me what my reads are.
301: @SEPPEL: ARE YOU CLAIMING NONTOWN
Also are actions skills? I think somebody cheated me.
302: Am I the only one who thinks the AI/Cythare interactions are like, just really the worst? Maybe I'm seeing things.
General notes:
-AI's still scum and a good wagon. I support that one.
-Let's not forget about location moving. I really would like to have that sorted before we forget.
-If I didn't say this yet, Wildfire is moving into the town column for me. He's not fully there due to some truly baffling posts (like the HP vote) but I got no red flags out of him during my questioning a few pages back. Others may wish to read that and tell me what they think, but for now I'll say that he's clear.
-I'll probably continue my metamorphosis into desCoures over the next few days, then realize that I hate giant posts and go back to mobile posting. Who knows! All of the options are the worst.

Surprised you didn't give any thought to post 276 since you highlighted 275, or maybe you just condensed both of them.
You know what I find odd? You seem so argumentative with Rhand when the essence of his post is something you concede to: you're being atypical compared to how he would have seen you. I don't know what made you quote five posts when that's basically all he said.

@Megiddo, actually, I am leaning the other way on Wildfire. He was posting pretty regularly when under pressure, but he has quieted down the last few pages as attention has shifted to others (Chris, AI). I should probably read a Wildfire scum game to confirm, but I know when I am scum I tend to quiet down if pressure shifts off me to others. Afraid to rock the boat.
@Karn, where did you to and why won't you answer my questions?
LnG, I haven't posted as much today because I was without MTGSalvation access for most of the day. It has little to do with the lack of me being under pressure.

@Karn, where did you to and why won't you answer my questions?
Your *one* question, you mean.
Why do I think Wildfire and AI are scum.
This answer is worth waiting a bit on.
The answer you can give for my question, however, there is no reason to possibly wait on:
Why is me 'naked' voting Wildfire and calling Wildfire and AI scum (then not immediately telling you why) the absolute scummiest thing in the game in your eyes - which you made obvious by voting me?
@Karn, I don't recall saying that you voting Wildfire and AI was the scummiest thing in this game. I will gladly wait here while you find that quote from me.
And my other question was: why are you so concerned about my vote on you?
2. It's not a scumslip. It was late and I read it on my phone. I counted 4 names. Obviously I was wrong. Why is that something scum might mistakenly do?

Right. I don't actually have an awful lot of time today, especially with pre-release weekend coming up, and from my skim of recent developments there's this huge mess between a whole bunch of players that it'll take time to digest and untangle. (Specifically, there's this whole AI/Cythare/Sir Chris/Megiddo cluster I'll need to slowly parse.) I'm just going to address some quick points today and leave the mass-quoting to probably after the WC final.
@LnGrrrR: Let me get this straight. You think Sir Chris getting defensive after 2-3 votes is a town tell?
@Sir Chris: I don't think I'm quite convinced by some of your responses yet, but you did make a good point re: Megiddo. To whit..
@Megiddo: I somehow missed that the first time round, but you did actually say that Arianrhod posting about going to Ruchperion - a post which you appear to have been totally convinced by - is a scum tell for him, and appeared to be encouraging Sir Chris with that? Explain to me how that works, please.
Wildfire is probably town. Too many questionable people were piled on him at one point. Won't be sure until I untangle abovementioned cluster a bit, though.

Closed on a house last night and will be moving this weekend and will mostly be out of pocket. Should hopefully have some more time tonight prior to that but to Meg -
I thought Killjoy's post was a slip for two reasons - one, because it felt like a "he's wrong about the size of our team" reaction because it didn't even occur to me prior to that that Iso would have listed those people meaning that it had to be that exact number of people, no more, no less. Two, because he miscounted the number of people that Iso had listed as scum, which made me think that he didn't actually care about or take time to consider who among that list Iso thought were scum, just saw his name and maybe another relevant name or two and reacted.
The thing I found strange about the situation is that no one was reacting to Iso's claim that it was a slip. He said that Killjoy slipped in #223 and I didn't see anyone mention it aside from Killjoy in #277 until I did in #285. And still few people have acknowledged the discussion - which makes me think there's probably some egg shell walking going on around that point.
I'm gonna wait until Proph responds before I share my own answer to your other question. I don't believe that you have no opinion on my case on AI, btw, what I don't understand is why you aren't giving it.

Congrats on the house!
My reaction to the Killjoy/Iso thing was that Killjoy had just misread Iso's post -- I noted the discrepancy (quoted it in fact, IIRC), but I didn't read anything into it. Iso listed the 5 as one sentence, which made it run together a bit, so I didn't and still don't see anything that's worth reading into, there.
-------------
I have an idea of why the Megiddo / Sir Chris conversation happened, but I'll let them respond to that since I wasn't addressed on it.
-------------
I'm also not seeing what others are seeing regarding AI. He's leaning town in my book.
-------------
I'll echo dC here -- I've got 5 magic events in the next two days, so I'm gonna be pretty out of touch / exhausted. I'll keep up on my phone as best I can, but don't expect much out of me till Monday.
@killjoy: DCIII answered the question as well as I would've, minus one thing: You forgetting to include yourself as a scum player in your mind is what I believe resulted in the "4?" post. It all came across to me as, "Hey, Iso, there are 5 of us, not 4!"
Alternate possibility: I named 4 scum correctly and you slipped HARD.

255: @Wildfire: I believe this was already answered by somebody else (Cythare a few posts down), but no, I literally straight up said a thing that was not true. It's not correct to say that I lied, per se, but I was definitely bull*****ting.
Every time Cythare posts I want to smack him.
264: @Niv: Where you at dawg?
265: @Rhand: yes here we go. I'll quote this one.
Maybe not. The post you agreed with Cythare on (this one) was literally 100% about voting, so my natural assumption there is that you were similarly interested in my voting patterns.
Like.

You know what I find odd? You seem so argumentative with Rhand when the essence of his post is something you concede to: you're being atypical compared to how he would have seen you. I don't know what made you quote five posts when that's basically all he said.

Do you think I am scum?
Your *one* question, you mean.
Why do I think Wildfire and AI are scum.
This answer is worth waiting a bit on.
The answer you can give for my question, however, there is no reason to possibly wait on:
Why is me 'naked' voting Wildfire and calling Wildfire and AI scum (then not immediately telling you why) the absolute scummiest thing in the game in your eyes - which you made obvious by voting me?
And my other question was: why are you so concerned about my vote on you?
Club Flamingo Wins: 1!
If you were actually paying attention, you would see at least one of the reasons why I voted you.
Club Flamingo Wins: 1!
No I'm saying AI dodged the question.
Actions have one-shot skills.
How? I literally said, in abbreviated form, "Yes. How about you?"
I'm going to stop pretending that I'm a good player now because it is apparently hella scummy.
That's not why it's a scumslip.
Since when do we ever have the same reads?
Like, ever?
Remind me who you think is scum/who you're voting for?

The strong town read on Rhand is due to his willingness to have an unpopular opinion re: Meg and do the legwork to support that opinion. I don't see scum!Rhand bothering to do that with multiple competing wagons.
Currently voting Sir Chris.

I have Rhand as strongly town for pushing an unpopular case against Meg despite several easy counter-wagons.
I'm currently voting Sir Chris but I would be fine lynching Wildfire today as well.
It's really not a scumslip though, as I'm town.

Jund Fangirl; Few things can describe the bliss of the fangirl's cries fading to silence (broken by occasional munching sounds).
Grixis Emo; 'Why should I go out there? They're all uncaring zombies! *sniff* No one understands me...'
Bant Wageslave; Behind every successful knight is a corporate drudge doing his taxwork.
Naya Overenthusiast; Because there is such a thing as too much enthusiasm.

Oh I thought you said "Why? How about you?" which is hella scummy.
Please list the questionable people as you see it right now.

More votes on Sir Chris.
Alternate possibility: I named 4 scum correctly and you slipped HARD.

I've played with you and Seppel enough by now to have learned to just ignore you two on day 1. Nothing good ever comes of me scrutinizing either of you this early in the game.
