Iso's #794 gives me bad vibes, like he's trying to subtly buddy Meg who is widely considered town. Also the "But LnG and AI are obvscum." with no prior justification that I can recall. Meg, what's your read?
Megiddo was my first town read in this game and I like him so he's my sounding board presently. It's hardly subtle, given that I've talked mostly to Megiddo through this entire game - have you not noticed? Did you also miss the part where I justified my LnGr read? (I don't think I ever gave reasoning for you, though.) And if I'm subtly attempting to buddy Megs...what are you doing with asking Megiddo what his read on me is?

So despite having a good computer again this is still (embarrassingly) the only way to do this without wanting to kill myself.
794 @Iso: Your proph vote interpretation is definitely interesting. Noting that you specifically call it a bus vote.
You think his reasoning—that LnG is being self-conscious—is bunk?
795 @hans: Massclaim is scummy for a couple reasons. First, on its face, it's anti-town this early in the game. Or, well, I strongly believe that it would be. As I said earlier I am willing to bet that Zindabad has more anti-massclaim features in the game than just "roles were randomized." Consider Ataghan, where out of concern for a mass claim he gave the scum the ability to kill two players in a single Night phase. However, there's an additional concern. MTGS meta is SO gun-shy about D1 massclaims that I think you could suggest it in 100 games and have it happen in 0. So suggesting it is effectively pointless, but it does look like you're actively participating. You foster a genuine discussion where people on both sides say their piece and you insert yourself in peoples' minds as "the guy who suggested the mass claim." But the end result of the discussion is predetermined. So it's a player starting a pointless conversation instead of analyzing content.
Thanks for sharing your reads.
796 @AI: I do like when people barn me. The issue is that I'm not sure how right I am right now. Iso has been... different this game. I don't know why. Actually, a lot of players have been different this game, which is throwing me off somewhat. So I'm not sure what to make of it. I will say that Iso has been talking to me for a while, so it's not as if he just popped up and started trying to buddy me there.
Thanks for answering re: Wildfire in your next post also. I think that it's still scummy for various reasons as well. I can elaborate if required.
798 @Chris: I lol'd IRL when I scrolled back up and read the post you were responding to. Not that he's wrong or anything, it's just funny to me. Can you walk me through your take on LnG? We can have a discussion.

I tend to like people who ask certain type of questions. There are dumb questions and then there are smart questions. As I read through LnG's posts he kept asking questions I thought showed a fair amount of thought. I also thought his answers were genuine to some of the questions posed to him. He also calls people out who don't answer his questions in a way he likes. Like he hasn't posted a lot but to me the posts felt engaged.

See to me the reason I don't really like the case against AI is the strongest thing, to me, is basically being pushed to the side. Everyone seems cool with his not really backing himself up a lot. If you take that out of thw equation, just dismiss it as normal style, the mass claim thing doesn't really hold much merit because he has given a lot of thoughts since then even if they are pretty all over the place. The mass claim substituting as content is a strong argument paired with the fact that he doesn't back up his points, but when the latter seems to just be accepted... then isn't it a bit late to be accusing him of not doing stuff? Like I haven't LIKED his content, but AI has clearly been giving opinions all over the place since that time.
Like I said if mass claims are very, very obviously fruitless in this community it becomes stronger, but I am unsure why it alone makes him scum when something that I usually think is scummy has been handwaved for the most part. Doesn't add up to me.
Also Niv just takes days off at a time and I am sure when he posts his catch up won't be very impressive.

His very first post of the game is something I really should have snapvoted him for, in hindsight. I have no idea how I missed the gem of "you know what guys, losing 8 vitality just doesn't seem to work for me" (that's not an actual quote, I will quote it below now)
IDK about Alway Etteem, but we sure as hell can't stay here. I'm not down with a unilateral loss of 8 Vitality.
Like I know town can say super obvious stuff that has no real merit, but man I hounded a poor guy earlier for stating the obvious in 5 paragraphs but somehow didn't butcher Killjoy for this. It is so much more like scum to make a post and go 'oh god oh god, have to have content, panic panic say something, Iknow VITALITY LOSS OF THAT MAGNITUDE IS UNACCEPTABLE! Yes, good job scum Killjoy, you've shown them all what you can do.
Now in fairness it's an opening post, but to mitigate my own fairness I've caught scum in an opening post before so... yeah that's just really not a good start.
'Good safety net if we aren't confident in a lynch' he says. Geesh kind of tapping out from being confident in finding scum three posts into the game.
...
And he suggests the one where dead players can talk, most assuredly one of the more powerful ones in town's favor as the game goes further in. That's not what safety net means at all.
He calls AI a kissass. I know it is just fluff but I don't see scumbuddies usually interact in such a casual way. A small point against those two both being scum, I think. Also the way he said 'consider my proposal a suggestion' just reeks of weakness.
"Why do you consider Hooker's not self-voting scummy, but not Niv's RVS posting, given that he doesn't normally do it?"
This is what I consider to be one of those bad questions. Mostly because it has an easily solvable answer. "I do find him scummy, but I only have one vote." The smart thing to say would have been 'Why are you voting Hookerpunch?" Odd to bring Niv up there. He isn't voting Niv, didn't mention Niv before. Just kind of pulled him into the conversation like a magic trick. I don't get it.
Also unvoting Meg and going "RVS is over" but not having a revote is kind of... just there. I don't know I just really have liked nothing this guy is posting. Like even the unvote is unnatural and weird. Why even bother to unvote, for the purpose of announcing the stage of the game being over, if you aren't ready to pressure someone in return? It's utterly pointless!
(Also Meg you got owned with your prediction that no one was going to vote for AI. Stay out of the psychic business)
Finally I don't think Killjoy has mentioned me once. I don't know if that means anything, but I've posted a fair amount and I haven't been shy.
But anyway Killjoy is an acceptable alternative to Niv if Niv ever decides to play the game in real time because really now.

proph - In every game I've played with proph, he has basically led the town with his analyses, but this game seems entirely different; I feel like his impact on this game has been nearly nonexistent.
Are you serious?
Why do you feel like it's been entirely nonexistent? I've been playing since I got back.
Quote from Sir Chris »
Okay so besides thinking a post from another game of his was... well nevermind it was from another game, I went through all of LnG's posts and while they are a bit sparse I like the thought process he has displayed thus far in a vacuum. Can someone explain to me why he is really scummy? I just don't see that case at all. Will get to Killjoy later and then probably tomorrow read through the game as a whole with me trying to be more nitpicky than I have been.
Off the top of my head, he did nothing but park votes on lurkers for half of the game while everyone else was actually scumhunting. He's not reading the game, and he asked me two useless questions.
Well I happen to have my LnG iso window open so let's talk shop.
@Proph, how many games had you played with Wildfire? How do you know his scum game from his town game?
And you have played enough with me to know that I a) hate lurkers and b) pressure people who don't answer my questions. Also, explain how I am "randomly" parking votes please.
I don't like your characterization of what is and what is not a useless vote, I am afraid. For one the first is vital to understanding your thought process. He is literally asking, point blank, for detailed reasoning. Something no town should balk at as to reach honest conclusions reasoning has to be involved. To think asking to show your work is 'useless' is a bit silly of you. It shows that he is invested and actually does kind of care about what you have to say, he just wants to know how you got there.
Next, his votes:
He does admit he hates lurkers, but Cythare is not a person who has been only an inactive for the most part. He's made quite a few content filled posts to be judged by. He voted Niv which I can't disapprove of, given he is the type of lurker who writes big paragraphs once a week and that's not exactly something I like. Finally his only other vote out of RSV is voting Karn for not answering his questions, and he wasn't lurking at the time to my knowledge.
I mean you can say he hasn't been active, but... wouldn't you kind of be wanting to kill a lurker then, just like you say he is? I mean the only knock against him to me is his volume of work. He doesn't 'park' votes, he just doesn't post a ton.

Chris's #819 is pretty spot on and I'd be willing to vote Killjoy as a result.
I don't want to vote LnGr Today - Other than the timing of his vote on Cythare, I don't see a case on him. A lot of the casual tone and language he uses throughout the game are making me think otherwise.
AI - you don't remember me expressing suspicion of you? You responded to my case...
Sorry. I don't remember.
I don't like the above at all. I cased him and put the momentum on his wagon to begin with so I find it hard to believe he'd forget that as Town. As scum, I can see him not caring WHO voted for him earlier in the game, just that he was voted. As Town, I would think he'd have been aware of who made a case on him to evaluate whether or not it was a scummy case. In his reads, he had me as a lean town read. He apparently didn't realize I'd expressed suspicion of him previously. He questions my vote of him saying that I hadn't been concerned previously, I point out that he responded to a case from me and he doesn't care to go back to look to see what the case was to see if he needs to re-evaluate me, but apologized for not remembering. It shows a lack of inquisitive mindset and that last line feels like it's trying way too hard not to care.
Can't say I know how AI operates, but from my general experience scum tend to remember who voted them more than town does. They have to.

Can't say I know how AI operates, but from my general experience scum tend to remember who voted them more than town does. They have to.
I feel like it's the other way. Scum don't have to solve the game, they just have to stay alive - and one way they're often caught is when they aren't reading the game because they aren't trying to solve it. Town have to figure out who is scum - so knowing who is voting for you and why is a big part in trying to figure out whether they are genuine or not.
Either way, I know that if someone told me they'd made a case on me and I had no recollection of it, the first thing I'd do is go and find it to see if I believed it or not because I'd be trying to figure out if I believed their stance and how it impacted my opinion of them.
There's an inherent contradiction in what he was doing - he was showing curiosity as to why I was voting for him because he didn't remember that I had previously done so (implied suspicion of me because of my vote). When I told him I'd previously done so, he didn't bother to check out why... so, if that's the case, what was the curiosity to begin with? Why ask a question to me about why I'm voting him only to not care about the answer when he was directed toward it? That's why I think it's faked curiosity.
See it isn't about figuring out the game it is about knowing who thinks you look bad so you can try to placate them. On the other hand I also think backing up your opinions is reasonable but AI doesn't seem to like to do that either. I cannot argue the merit of his play being called good, but ... honestly his uniform lack of effort is a sick kind of consistent. If his general lack of effort makes him scum I wouldn't be surprised, but I think it has to be a complete picture for it to make since, not just bits and pieces picked apart.

I just don't buy it... like, the only benefit I can see from a comment like the last one I quoted is to to appear casual/dismissive in the face of suspicion. It feels like it's trying to make a show of how little effort he is putting in.
DCIII my point is he has made great pains to show in all respects how little he cares. I don't like arguments that focus too much on singular points when broader points work better. Did you respond to the post that said AI's behavior is typical town behavior when I asked about it a couple of days ago? I have assumed that assessment was accurate because no one contradicted it directly.

Er, Arianrhod, one small thing in relation to me: people have been on me quite a bit. I am unsure where votes stand at the moment, but I've been called a mixture of terrible and voted for it what feels like often. Why do you think I, as scum, would just ignore that and be confident in the face of that? If I hadn't been voted at all this would make sense, but I don't see how you can connect the logic of what you say with what has happened.
But a couple of questions: is it common for Asian to just not justify what he says in any way? I mean if it is what it is then I guess he just doesn't bother with that stuff. But I'd like to know that's a 'thing', because it would make him seem more town to me for the whole mass claim thing. Also do you believe shorter days benefit town? I've always felt the opposite. With more time the truth often has more time to come out, or be reasoned. In my experience no scum lie can hold up forever. Not to say we have to spend it forever, but uh most of those points are kind of Cythare neutral don't you think?
But if AI indeed just does this I'd probably vote for Niv. His novels aren't very impressive, and big walls of text every now and then are something I am suspicious of because it is how I often see scum operate.
I would say it's fair to categorize AI in this manner. From my recollection of town!AI, he offers a lot of opinions but rarely justifies them unless he's casing someone.

Chris - you mean typical for AI? I haven't played with AI before but I was in a game he modded and he seemed to care - he responded to me with this, so he cared enough to defend against my case at the time.
C'mon Seppel - that's your point? This is all in the context of which of the major wagons would we support right now per Meg's previous question (AI, LnGr, Killjoy, Cythare) and I was saying that I'd be willing to vote Killjoy. I am voting AI. Other players have had similar discussions in terms of would be willing to vote/lynch of other players they aren't currently voting. That was a reach. I'm going to be right about you, I can feel it.
For example, I'm ISOing LnG right now and I literally don't remember or see why I thought he was so awful. So I then have to go back an read all of MY posts to find where I said anything about it.

806 @Seppel: I literally died.

I have no idea what the "Shh" thing even means, and the "don't make me destroy you" in CT3 was in response to Az pushing you.
What do you think of EtR?
↓
After reading this and your original post for something like three times I finally get it. Sorry.
Are you serious?
Why do you feel like it's been entirely nonexistent? I've been playing since I got back.
Off the top of my head, he did nothing but park votes on lurkers for half of the game while everyone else was actually scumhunting. He's not reading the game, and he asked me two useless questions.

I just don't buy it... like, the only benefit I can see from a comment like the last one I quoted is to to appear casual/dismissive in the face of suspicion. It feels like it's trying to make a show of how little effort he is putting in.
