Rules: #1: Don't edit your posts, don't quote any PM from any player (especially me), and don't discuss this game with anyone except myself and anyone delineated in your role PM. Breaking these rules will result in modkill. Expect absolutely no leniency as far as this rule goes.
Don't edit your posts. That's pretty self-evident.
When referring to your role PM, you may directly quote your character's name, your role title, the names of your abilities and any parameters they may have. For the effects of your abilities, you should paraphrase; when referring to your flavor, you should summarize. If the flavor is "You are a happy red dog," don't tell people it's "I'm a content crimson canine." Summarize. Say "I'm a dog."
Do not ever discuss this game in any thread, public or not, or in PMs with any player besides me or other players your role permits you to talk to. I don't care if you don't refer to it by name. Saying things like "This happened in an ongoing game" isn't going to fool anyone. Please keep this game's integrity intact as it will be more fun for everyone that way.
#2: Don't lurk to excess. RL comes for everyone. It's understandable. Just keep me updated on what your situation is. If you anticipate being able to continue in the game, I will work with you, and if you don't think it will be possible, I'll look for a replacement. But if you simply drop out of the game without any communication, that will likely have an adverse effect on your chances of getting into my games in future. #3: The Forum Rules apply in this game and in all games. Mafia is a game of high tension due to the levels of suspicion and paranoia involved, and I know from personal experience the effect it can have on some players. Be sure to keep your behavior within the guidelines stated, however. Flaming will not be tolerated. #4: Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once the lynch threshold has been reached, nothing can prevent that lynch and the game is considered to be in "twilight." Posting during twilight is allowed. Twilight lasts from the time the lynch threshold is reached until the next time that I post in the thread. #5: Please bold your votes and unvotes. Votes made without unvoting first will not count. #6: Deadlines are set at the start of each day. Barring exceptional circumstances, those deadlines are immutable and will not be changed. If the deadline is reached without achieving a lynch, the day will end in No Lynch. The deadline remains static - votes made after it has passed will not count even if I have not made it to the thread yet. #7: Once you die, you are dead. Do not post. This includes "bah" posts. Do not communicate about anything game-related with any player, alive or dead, even if you think that communication does not endanger the game state or is not "important." This also includes posts by dead players once you “think” the game is over. Do not post until I declare the game has come to an end. It is a violation of these rules to do otherwise and will be treated accordingly. #8: Night actions must be in by the night deadline. The deadline remains static - choices made after it has passed will not count even if I have not started the day yet. If you do not plan to use your night action, please inform me, as day will start once all choices are in. #9: There will never be a Jester in any game that I host. #10: After you have requested replacement or after I have announced that I am seeking a replacement for you - whichever comes first - your time in the game has ended. Do not post any further. #11: Remember that while this is a game, it is intended to be fun for everyone. If you knowingly take actions that violate the spirit of the game, I reserve the right to apply the appropriate punishment. #12: If you don't know, ask. I am online all the time and I'm happy to help you with any questions you may have. Please don't commit avoidable breaches of these rules because you didn't ask for clarification.
Game mechanics:
Each ability is defined as either active or passive. Passive abilities do not require the player to do anything. Unless otherwise noted, a player can only perform one action classified as "active" during each day/night cycle. If Jimmy has 1 active day ability and 2 active night abilities, he can perform his day ability every day phase (as long as he meets its requirements) but he can only choose one of his night abilities to perform each night phase. Actions classified as "anytime" may be performed at any time, as long as the player meets the requirements to use the ability, and as many times as the player is able to pay for.
You are welcome to attempt any of these tactics. At best, they will not provide any benefit; at worst, they may harm your team. You have been warned.
The game's key mechanic is Vitality. Each player has a Vitality score which is always displayed in the game’s first post or in votecounts. When a player’s Vitality score reaches 0 or less, they die. Dying from loss of Vitality does not count as a “kill.” Vitality affects many parts of this game.
The other major mechanic is location. The worlds of the Celestials make up a major part of this game. At any time during the day, a player may post “Propose Move to <world name>”. A move vote requires a simple majority to pass. Players cannot propose other moves while a move vote is already taking place. To end a move vote, either its proposer may withdraw it by posting “Withdraw Move Proposal”, or a simple majority may vote against it. Should a move proposal pass, the players will move there at the end of the day. If a day ends with a current vote proposal on the table, no move will take place.
Worlds also have and can lose or gain Vitality. If a world’s Vitality goes down to 0 while there are still players on it, those players will be randomly relocated to another world with greater-than-0 Vitality, and will also lose 25% of their current Vitality as the cost of such an emergency change of worlds.
Worlds:
These are the worlds of the Celestials. The game begins on Day One in the First Halls.
The First Halls - 0 Vitality
The First Halls lose 6 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players on the First Halls lose 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Erhamen, the Ghostland - 9 Vitality
Erhamen loses 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Living players on Erhamen lose 3 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Dead players may post while on Erhamen.
Alway Etteem, the Mirrored Domain - 4 Vitality
Alway Etteem loses 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players on Alway Etteem lose 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
When a player uses a non-killing ability on Alway Etteem, the effect of that ability also affects its user.
Oberos, the Lands of Loss - 0 Vitality
Oberos loses 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players on Oberos lose 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players targeted by abilities while on Oberos cannot use abilities during the following day-night cycle.
Gundhiya, the Oblivion Falls – 4 Vitality
Gundhiya loses 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players on Gundhiya lose 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players on Gundhiya can’t gain Vitality.
Ruchperion, Land of Ceaseless Hunger – 54 Vitality
Ruchperion loses 4 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players on Ruchperion lose 2 Vitality at the end of each day or night.
Players who die on Ruchperion transfer their remaining Vitality to it.
Win conditions: Town win condition: "You win when the scum are destroyed." Mafia win condition: "You win when your team controls the lynch, or when such control is inevitable."

"Sidi, the sun is beginning to descend. We'll never finish the story in time!"
"Always so impatient, child. Don't you know that time stands still for the greatest of storytellers?"
"...That's not true."
"And you, girl. Always so...unwhimsical. It's a wonder you find stories interesting at all."
"..."
"Sidi! The story! Before papa comes!"
"Very well, lad. Where we last left Yblisa and Voes, they had made a dread bargain to betray the Celestials, the lords of the worlds beyond Ruffu, and rule the universe together. So they journeyed to the home world of the Celestials, which they called the First Halls, to carry out their sinister plan."
"But what were the Celestials?"
"Years ago - millennia - there was a being named Demernae, and she was companion to the Word. You remember the Word, don't you?"
"Yblisa and Voes's maker."
"Just so. Well, eventually they came to blows over one of their creations, and the Word separated Demernae into her component parts. All the things that had made her herself were divided out into beings of their own. There was no more Demernae. There was only Demernae's Sight, Demernae's Wishes...Demernae's Melancholy."
"This sounds a lot like the story of Voes and Yblisa."
"Does it, lad? At any rate, the Word left, taking part of Demernae with him. The remaining parts slowly forgot who they had been, terming themselves the Celestials, They were nothing like their predecessor, really - after the war between Demernae and the Word, most of creation lay in smoldering, rotting ruin. The Celestials mainly concerned themselves with accumulating enough life energy, or Vitality, to keep their dying worlds alive. And they were failing."
"So Voes brought Yblisa to the Celestials, claiming he was going to offer her Vitality to them."
"But before doing that, he and his sister lured 3 of the more naive Celestials into a foul pact with them. They would disrupt the Celestials' meeting on the First Halls and destroy them, consuming their Vitality, and becoming the lords of creation (as Voes desired) or the lords of nothingness (as he had promised Yblisa.) The stage was set. The Celestials had called a council to discuss the disappearance of certain stars from the sky. They officiously pretended that it was a matter for debate, when all of them knew why the stars were going dark - because creation was decaying."
"What did Voes and Yblisa do?"
"They entered the Celestials' council, Voes a terrifying amalgam of man and beast, feathers and scales patterning his yearningly human face, while Yblisa entered wrapped in a cloak that concealed her face. The Celestials carried on as if there were no-one present, but it was obvious to all that they were distracted by Yblisa. Their eyes glowed hungrily, their ears (those of them that had ears) pricked up, and they cast sidelong glances at her like your sister sometimes does at the last of the prickly-pear yogurt."
"...Very funny, Sidi."
"What happened next?"
"One of them ceded the floor to Voes. He introduced his sister, giving his own grand speech where he described all the benefits of a partnership between himself and the Celestials. As he went on and on, a curious darkness began to fall over the council chamber. Finally, one of the Celestials called through the gloom, 'Enough talk! Give her to us!' 'Yes - and where is she? It's too dark in here!' another one called. 'Give us Yblisa!' chanted the remaining Celestials, until Voes held up his hands (well, more like hand and tentacled appendage) for quiet. 'You want her?' the Reaper asked? 'Then you shall have her!' And the First let her cloak fall, and the Celestials beheld her in her terrifying glory. And she smiled."
"..."
"...What did she do?"
"She flew at them, pointed teeth parted, razor claws flailing. In the hazy darkness, only the sounds of slaughter gave proof of what Yblisa was doing to the Celestials. Finally, the stars above twinkled once more (for of course Yblisa had been feeding on their energy to empower her dark rage, and to grant herself the cover of darkness), and there was no sign of Voes or Yblisa - save the twisted corpses of the Celestials who had tried to claim her."
"How horrible."
"...Fool."
"With the Celestials, it was always eat or be eaten - and Voes and Yblisa had now made clear their true intention. 'Where are those hateful traitors?' hissed one of the Celestials. 'They can't have got far, but they aren't here...wait. There should only be nineteen of us left. But here stand twenty-one.'"
"The siblings had disguised themselves as Celestials."
"And through their powers, they had made their disguises perfectly convincing. The Celestials - who were not exactly the most advanced beings even in their prime, and who were now decrepit husks of what they had once been - could not discern the impostors, though they knew perfectly well that two of their number did not belong. And so they undertook what the Elementals had dared at the Clock, to their sorrow: they concluded on killing one of their number every day in the hopes of weeding out Voes and Yblisa."
"Always killing, Sidi. Was there no other way?"
"The Celestials were little more than avaricious leeches, while the siblings were twisted by hatred and base desires. But there were other players in this tragic game, that had yet to tip their hands...."
Day One of Celestial Mafia has begun.
With 21 alive, it's 11 to lynch.
The deadline is set for Monday, August 18th, at 5:00 pm EST.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

Alaway seems like a better place than Ruchperion to start with. All Ruch does is eat up unspent vitality. It's probably a great place to end up at in the endgame, since it will likely be the last to collapse, but to start out, Alaway seems like the place to go. Especially if we've got a Doc or Watcher floating around.
Vote Rhand, because, like Generic, you've managed to trick me in the past two games we've been in together.

On that note, locking players into only being able to vote for the choice of whoever happened to propose a move first seems a bit strange (and possibly beneficial to scum during LyLo). I would have expected the voting to require a player to second the proposal for it to go through, like IRL Mafia.
@zindabad: Is Vitality supposed to be public information? If so, can we get an update to the OP, plz?

If a simple majority votes against moving, the motion fails and another move can be proposed.

Hey guys. I don't really like joke phases so I am not going to bother.
Mirrored Domain seems promising, could hurt scum if they have roleblocks and other negative things for town.

While I can see how this is a good place to move to, I'm not interested in locking in a move this early in the Day. If it isn't locked in, I guess I'm fine with it, but until I get confirmation, I'm against.
If it involved a pale girl finger wagging you with a superior smirk your high school locker room went better than mine.
Also not a fan of Cythare's anti-post rather than a for-post. Like "Yeah I don't want to decide yet" well that's... an empty post. We all know the score, even if you don't want to vote on a world change you can instead provide commentary on the choices like I did. So yeah Cythare early is someone I am not a fan of.

I agree with Cythare that it's too early to lock in a move. Vote against Moving to Alway Eteem however, that is my first choice at this point so if nothing changes I'll support it later.

Please read the rules on how world moves works.
1) A person proposes a move to another world
2) As a group, we vote on whether or not we want to move to that world
3) Until that proposal is off the table, we can't propose moves to other worlds or vote for other worlds
Altway Etteem looks like a good place to go to in a vacuum. But this game just started, and I don't see why we should lock in our move by planning in a vacuum when we can wait until later in the Day to circle back to it once more as happened.
I read the rules I just wanted more out of you. Is it truly too much to ask?

I didn't ask but I did say what he "could do instead." My intent really was quite clear, even if I would have failed at Jeopardy by phrasing it that way. What is suspicious about my reaction? I thought that was a fairly simple point a to point b.

You called my post an "empty post" when it was quite clear what the point of my post was - to vote against locking in our travel plans so soon. How is it empty to not want to do this? I'm not stymieing discussion on the topic at all.
Also, you make some assumptions in your commentary that make it seem not super useful (like how mirroring a roleblock back on yourself is at all an issue when it is "in addition"), and calling me scummy for "naysaying" when your own post does nothing but state something while you yourself don't actually vote.
Some suspicion in Proph as well for attempting to do to Meg what Meg did to him in Winterfell by calling him out for ignoring him early. Think it's unlikely he'd think that tell would work on Meg since Meg was the one who thought he saw it initially in Proph and would be aware of it. Seems like posturing.
@Megiddo: Given public information, you are likely to die soon. If there were a player who could increase other players' Vitality, should that player target you? Why?

"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."

If so, can we get an update to the OP, plz?
a break from tradition:
Vote Iso
Vote for moving to Alaway Eteem. from looking at the worlds in a vacuum, this one is most likley by far the best choice for the game day/night one.
Millionaires, I hear it's good Music (Disclaimer: lyrics not PG-13) Thanks, CC
Then Consider my proposal a suggestion.
I don't really care about which World we go to. Mechanics optimization is fine, but I'd rather it not be a huge part of discussion.
I wonder why Meg is ignoring me.
I want to lynch Wildfire based on his first post.

I like HookerPunch at a glance because scum rarely go "look at me look at me look at me"

I agree with Cythare that it's too early to lock in a move. Vote against Moving to Alway Eteem however, that is my first choice at this point so if nothing changes I'll support it later.
@Proph - thoughts on AI's first post?

Also, you make some assumptions in your commentary that make it seem not super useful (like how mirroring a roleblock back on yourself is at all an issue when it is "in addition"), and calling me scummy for "naysaying" when your own post does nothing but state something while you yourself don't actually vote.
