To be fair, if I had been town on that last night, I still would have protected Generic over you Rhand, just because I think that the scum would have been more likely to go for the 100% guaranteed town kill than the guy that is just incredibly likely to be town.
And for what it's worth, 'calculated and non-posting' is really just how I am now. I just happen to have been scum a million times recently. But I don't really play like I used to anymore. I got kind of timid during Crosstown because those MS players were just hard to keep up with, and I have just become a much less frequent poster since then. I can't be the 'train with no brakes' forever.
And yeah, hawk going after me was a huge point in his favor. I pointed that out myself. I was a little worried about the town coming together against me at the last minute, and I felt like turning things back around on hawk, especially after having JUST said 'these don't seem like posts that hawk would be able to fake as scum' would give me credibility. I genuinely was planning on glancing over BSG for 2 minutes and then coming back and agreeing with hawk about LNG in that game. But LNG's behavior was just sooooo different.
I was disappointed with the lack of items I had the option of picking up. I really expected more with this role - when Power started flipping and had no items it was really awkward.
Anyone that lynched me should feel bad because that lynch was straight trash.
Once again, just like BSG with Guardman, Cyan's behaviour was extremely scummy all game, but he rode to victory solely on a PR claim. This is getting old. Setup gaming blows (hey, that's the reason I got lynched too, what do you know).
I suggest to everyone: in the future care about roles less and care about behaviour more.
I really thought I was going to be basically town-cleared by Wheat until Karn CC'd me. I also think it's hilarious that in scum chat, my first post is promising not to bus my mates with the first 100 posts. But then I forgot who was on my team and ended up bussing Niv and Antny. AND IT WORKED.

fun fact, This little outing was only my second time ever being scum. with the first being Warhammer 40k mafia, where I imploded day one. clearly I have no idea how to do it, but I felt that my play was identical to my town play. someone want to fill me in as to what I actually did to out myself d1?

@Karn: setupgaming is not why you got lynched. It only supported the theory. (And correctly so: the last scum did claim power). Cyan's case on you was good.
Why didn't you try to get Cyan lynched if you thought he was scum?
"Oh, Cyan's alive in this endgame? Well, I know who the last scum is!"
Fun fact: Having not read the game at all, I took a look at the gamestate on the final Day and sent Iso a text message that day saying something to this effect.

Setup analysis is, and always will be, a part of mafia. Whenever you try to actively avoid it, you just end up lynching town roles and giving an unintended advantage to the scum. Behavior is the most important thing, but roles always have and always will matter(except in all vanilla games obviously). Sometimes you get a role that lets you be sloppy and get away with it. Sometimes you get a role that is unlikely to withstand player scrutiny. That was the case for you in this game, Karn. You have to compensate for that by just..being really townie. You didn't do that. It also doesn't help that on Day 5 you were just figuring out how your role worked.
@TK: I think you should have just claimed your real role honestly. You most likely would have just ended up in a dichotomy with Karn, but A)that's not something you would expect going into claiming with a role like that and B)you would have had a better chance than you did with that really bad false claim.
Cyan, I was unsure whether Thief would have drawn a lot of anti-Town hate.
Also, so I first intended to claim Rodney/Supplier, but then Seppel died. Then I was going to do Brett/BP, but KJ claimed that. My next claim was going to be Rip/Backup or Katya/Backup. Luckily no one ever pressured me for a name.

Yeah I was musing in the scum chat thread after you died that it would have been so awful if you actually claimed Brett Buckley. I don't think KJ would have ever gotten lynched then. You didn't really need to claim any character other than your real one though, in Archer everyone could potentially be a bad guy for the right reasons. You were most likely doomed no matter what because the town had a role that was very similar to yours, but the claim that you came up with was just really unfortunate.
Yeah, I saw you musing (I was enjoying rooting for you there). As an ODIN member (and the leader), I figured everyone would jump on me, otherwise I totally would have just straight claimed.

I was really unhappy when I looked at the thread after I died and you guys lynched Karn.
He was absolutely town!Karn all game. Yes he was useless but town!Karn likes to play that way.
@Karn: Stop playing that way though. It's way better play to use your townie status to hammer on people then to sit around and try to hit endgame by not being an NK target because you'll eventually be a lynch target when the people calling you town die, like what happened this game.
Whenever I am useless I'm seen as town, but when I start doing things (and am more often correct than incorrect when I do), for some reason people think I'm scum and want to/actually do lynch me.
I still can't figure it out, because whenever I look at a case on me when I'm town (like this game, the "case" Cyan attempted to make), or in Astarte, or Shouto Whateverthename where there literally WASN'T a case, I think it's absolute rubbish and don't understand how anyone can think that it's even remotely close to lynching over. 90% of the time their thoughts aren't reasonable or follow good logic. And I can disprove it, but it won't matter, I'll just be ignored, or in some cases, lynched because of setup gaming.
In some games it just feels like doing something won't even matter. Like this game, I was townread by basically everyone all game, but then I got lynched because of my role, and a scant post from one person pointing out things that didn't actually mean I was scum.
And I went from L-2 to Dead between the time I went to bed and the time I woke up, so by the time I saw that people were actually on board with this atrocious wagon, I didn't even have time to rebuttal. It was really just awful.

Yeah you got lynched in a hurry, which worked out nicely for me.
I think that your problem is that, when you are town, you assume that your behavior cannot actually be scummy, because...you are town. But that is not how I works. While I exaggerated some of the points I made against you, most of them were completely valid. Sometimes it's hard to see this objectively when the case is on you because you know that you meant well, but you have to be able to look at the points from an outside perspective.
You and I are pretty similar in our mafia mindsets, Karn. I think that's how weird good at reading each other.
Trust me, then, when I say it's better to hunt the scum and be thought scum yourself than to be thought town but useless. The reason I give is this: The scum have to push harder to secure your mislynch if you're hunting hard and providing good reasoning, and that, on top of your hunting, will make it easier for the town to find the scum.
Finding scum helps your team more than being town. Besides, how can you be seen as town while still being useful until you've had practice?
It'll take forever but it happens eventually in some games. There was a long period where I was scummy every game.

e League, you will receive two Review Points. At the end of a League Game, you have the option of using a Review Point and get an in-depth review. If you do not wish to use your Review Point or have ran out, you don't get a review. There is a deadline of two weeks to indicate that you would like to get a review. Any player who uses the point before the deadline will get a review.

It definitely was not the case this game. WG was obvious town from start to finish.
